5 Beautycounter Skincare Basics

Beautycounter is currently on a hiatus while the company restructures. Check out this blog post with product swap suggestions from the clean brands I’m using instead!

These are the 5 Beautycounter skincare basics I recommend for healthy skin. These safer skincare products are nourishing for all skin types. Get 20% off your first order with the code cleanforall20!

Beautycounter Skincare Basics this !

Have a solid skincare routine in just 5 steps

Morning and night, it is something I look forward to. It’s those extra few minutes of self-care that make me feel like I’m giving my future self a little gift.

But even on busy mornings or tired nights when I’m not up to my multi-step regimen, I don’t go without using a few staple skincare products. Gone are the days in my mid-twenties when I’d crash into bed and not even remove my makeup – gasp!

Since becoming a Beautycounter Consultant in 2019, I’ve upgraded my skincare arsenal a lot. I love using Beautycounter’s products because not only do they feel wonderful on my skin, but I can rest assured they are free from potentially harmful chemicals and skin irritants.

Beautycounter’s products are comparable in performance to any other high-end brand, but are free from fragrance, parabens, phthalates, and thousands of other toxic ingredients that are snuck into beauty products.

If you’re overwhelmed by all the serums out there so you don’t use any, some basics can get you a long way. And you can apply these tips to any skincare brand you like.

You don’t have to use 12 different products to get results.

Boil your routine down to just 5 basic products:

    1. Cleanser
    2. Toner
    3. Serum
    4. Moisturizer
    5. SPF

Whether you have oily skin, dry skin, or finicky combination skin, having these 5 skincare basics in your bathroom cupboard can help take care of common skin concerns and have your skin on its A-game.

5 Beautycounter Skincare Basics

1. Cleanser

First things first, a cleanser! I recommend cleansing your face morning and night, but if you only do it once per day – cleanse before bed to rinse away the day! Beautycounter has a cleanser every skin type.

The Countermatch Foaming Cleanser is a basic staple I recommend, and one I use myself. I think it smells like an almond cookie. If you have oilier skin, give the classic Charcoal Bar a try; and if you have dry skin, the Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm will melt away your makeup and leave your skin supple and soft.

2. Toner

Toners are often forgotten, but they are a critical part of a basic routine. Beautycounter’s new Triple Acid AHA Toner brightens skin in a few ways. Made with a powerful blend of AHAs, kombucha, and niacinamide, this toner exfoliates and reveals a glowing complexion. It’s pore-refining, too, helping to improve and minimize the appearance of pores after just one use.

The Countertime Hydrating Essence is my personal favorite toner-like product, and the Countermatch Hydra-Gel Toner with a unique gel texture helps minimize the appearance of pores while removing residual impurities, leaving skin hydrated and radiant.

3. Serum

A serum, also known as the “treatment” step, is typically the product with the most active ingredients. This is where those hard-working anti aging (goodbye fine lines!) and exfoliating ingredients get to work.

Beautycounter offers a few different serums, but the two that I recommend the most often are the All Bright C Serum (AM) and Overnight Resurfacing Peel (PM).

I use 2-4 different serums in my routine every week, including the Countertime Radiance Serum that is helpful in minimizing fine lines!

4. Moisturizer

Probably one of the most important parts of a basic routine – moisturizing! Keeping your skin hydrated, both from the inside and out, will help promote a healthy glow. I personally use different moisturizers for AM and PM, and often switch them up depending on the season. Two of my go-tos are the Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream (day) and Countertimem Supreme Cream (night). All Countertime products contain Beautycounter’s safer alternative to retinol.

If you’re looking for something with a lower price point, the Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion and Counterstart Cocoboost Moisturizer are great basics!

5. Sunscreen

If I know one thing about maintaining skin health, it is using sunscreen! Every single day.

Beautycounter’s Daily Sheer Defense For Face SPF 25 is my #1 favorite facial sunscreen. You can use it as your daily moisturizer. It layers well under makeup as it blends seamlessly without leaving a chalky white cast. Protect your skin from UVA, UVB, and blue light rays. This is one of my desert island products!
