You are here: Home / Lifestyle / 1 Day Vacation!

1 Day Vacation!

It’s vacation again! Except now I have school work to do too 🙁 I’ve got to get started on Biochem today and do some other small assignments.

I started the day with 25 minutes of Power Yoga #3. It’s an Advanced Beginner class and it was a little slow for me – perhaps I am moving into Intermediate territory?! I am starting to enjoy the flow + warrior styles a little more (but I HATE chair pose!!)

Then, it was oat time

 this !

IMG_0397

I went with 1/2 a cup of oats today because I was pretty hungry and my toppings were all nuts + seeds from the Superfood Slam Probar.

IMG_0398

The mix:

  • 1/2 cup oats, 1% milk, water, 1 small banana, pinch salt, splash vanilla
  • 1 tbsp raisins + craisins
  • 1/6th ish of a Superfood Slam Probar
  • Sprinkle coconut
  • Spoonful Smucker’s Natural

IMG_0396

Plus Coconut Chai Tea

To work!

Hey Kath! I have a question for you. I am trying to decide between taking a yoga class or buying a video to learn at home. I have never done yoga before but really want to start. What do you think would be better for a beginner?

stacy: Do you mean just the taste? Like you can’t eat it if it isn’t salty enough? I have no problems getting enough sodium — waaaay too much, and something I’d like to address this year.

But if you just mean craving it, hmmm… maybe I’ve craved it so long I just don’t notice it any more!

Kiersten, I think a lot of beginners might shy away from classes, but I think it’s really helpful to try a few classes when you’re first starting because the teacher can make sure you’re in the right form and things like that. Just my two sense.

Enjoy your mini-holiday! Hope you get a lot of work done on your assignments. Your oats are looking extra creamy lately…maybe it’s the new camera? Glad you’re loving yoga more & more. Chair pose – we did a lot of those in my class this morning. My quads and glutes still feel like jello.

Have you tried the Detox class? I think it’s a higher level, but it’s not as challenging as the two advanced flow classes.

    Hi All, hi Kath!
Enjoy your “vacation”! Wondering if anyone can explain to me how to ‘subscribe” to a blog. I am trying to make one about life/living/eating 🙂 in Manhattan and join this awesome ‘community’ but unfortunately lack the technology ‘savvy’ to get it up and running. I made the blog itself but am trying to figure out how to subscribe to others so I can read them from mine…any suggestions and help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! 🙂

    Kath:
Made your “salmon in a flash” last night. AWESOME IDEA 🙂 Thank you so much for a quick/easy/healthy dinner.

I love the way you rimmed the bowl with coconut, like a little fur coat around the bowl! Of course, its faux fur, not to upset the PETA folks.

    Kiersten ,
It’s up to you and your comfortablility (is that a word?!). Given how easy and free YogaDownload.com is, I’d recommend starting with their beginning ones or YogaToday.com and if you like it, then go to a class.

    Kim ,
That’s exactly why I post them!

    HangryPants ,
Yes, is that the backbend one? It was a little too hard on my back, but I liked it.

    ASHLEY ,
Yes, if it doesn’t say “no stir” on it, then you’ll need to refrigerated after stirring.

    sara ,
The RSS feed is at the very bottom of the sidebar – not the most user friendly, I know 🙁 You can put that into Google Reader and checkin that way. Unfortunately I don’t have email subscriptions in this theme.

    kpteabuzz ,
    Welcome!

Quick question, when you have your herbal teas every morning with breakfast, or chai teas, do you sweeten them or leave the tea plain???

    Thanks!
