Matt and I woke up too hungry to wait for a scone at the market. Plus our breakfast at the inn was included….and featured that amazing granola!! So we showered and ate.
I had a pile of blueberries topped with granola and a little milk
Plus fruit
And a half cup of coffee and a bite of this apple muffin!
HIs
And then we FINALLY got to check out the Cville Market!!! I have always wanted to be a farmer’s market-goer but I have nit-picky complaints about the ones in Charlotte. Mostly that I have to drive to them all. Can’t wait to bike to this one!
It was everything I hoped it would be
Stephanie and Cara met to hang out!
This is for you Canada (mmm onions!)
KATH EATS REAL FOOD! YEAH!
Hands down the best jam I’ve EVER had!
Blackberry Peach Lemon!?
More coffee was required. It was H.O.T. so we opted for iced
And we bought a bag of our favorite roaster!!
We picked up some veggies to bring home. Mmmm, nutrients!! Collards, kale, zucchini, squash, heirlooms, peaches, coffee.
Can’t wait to come back for jam + cilantro curry sauce!
We are picking up sandwiches and hitting the road back to the big city
Take me away from home, country roads.

That looks like a great market! Those blackberries…mmmm. And I love the marker board with “Real Food”
Aw so sorry you’ve gotta leave, but just remember that YOU’LL BE BACK
congrats Kath, I am SO happy for you and Matt – what an amazing trip and a freakin’ awesome new place to live! The market looks awesome – I love the “no pesticides” and “grass-fed” signs – that ROCKS!
I love everything about farmers markets! They are just such a fun environment!!
That looks like an INCREDIBLE market!
it’s so great living close to a farmers market you love. we live within walking distance from the one in l.a. we frequent – and they have the BEST samples. such a joy!
Blackberry peach lemon jam sounds incredible! I make an apricot pineapple jam, as well as straw/blackberry. Tis the season!
Canada represent!
Love markets, I hate that summer is so short here, not enough market time
Aah i am very jealous of your beautiful breakfast! Enjoy the country while you can
What an awesome farmer’s market! So much variety and everything looks so colourful and fresh.
I’m considering UVA for college . . . you’reeeee temptinggggg meeeeeee.
I am the same way with farmer’s markets. I want to be able to walk or bike to one. The only ones we have are just too far away. That one looks great! Have a safe trip!
Oh I LOVE Farmer’s Market’s! Looks like you a had a good day
There are tons of Farmer’s Markets here in NJ, The Garden State. You will love being able to buy fresh, locally grown food. I am lucky enough to be able to stop at a different one everyday from early May through November here. Good Luck with your move!
SO much great local things to discover. Love markets.
You must be so sad to leave… but you’ll be back soon!! And that market looks AMAZING!
I wish we had a farmers market here like that!
Wow. I walked right past you this morning at the market & thought it was you but wasn’t sure. I love the market here & enjoy going there for breakfast on lazy Saturday mornings.
Oh man!! Shoulda said hi!!
I will next time
I can not wait for your bakery to open up here. I love the bread from GH & can not wait til I can finally get it here.
God, CVille looks like my heaven. Sooo jealous.
Wow, that was FAST! Had fun this morning (despite being drenched in sweat
), have a save drive back! See you soon!
Ahhh, what an amazing looking market! Fun Saturday if you ask me!
Farmer’s Markets are so much fun and such a great way to pick out new/unique produce! It looks like you have a great one in your new neighborhood!
It’ll be so great when you can finally live in Cville
This market looks absolutely incredible! I love being a Farmers-Market-goer, especially in a big city (I live in San Francisco). It has been so great getting to know the local growers and vendors, and I hope you have a similarly positive experience! I am so excited for you guys–I know this next step of the journey will be wonderful!
what a beautiful market! i can’t wait to see your adventures there in the future…looks like y’all picked a great city to move to!
haha I love how the sign says “real food!”
I need to start hitting up my farmer’s market more often…I wish we had that selection though!
That looks like a wonderful market! I absolutely love farmers markets. My mom and I just started exploring the markets around us this summer and it is so much fun because each one is different.
That farmers market looks fabulous! Thumbs up for grass fed beef
I got organic kale ready to make some kale chips today. I’m going to use your recipe
Did you buy that jam? Can’t wait to see the creative ways you’ll use it if ya did!
Looks like a great market! Totally a plus at your new home!
So jealous that you got leafy greens at that market! Apparently its too hot and late in the season down here in NC for kale. Biking to the farmer’s market is the most funnest too…you’ll love it!
So glad you loved our market! But, how could you not?!?
Safe travels home…see you in 10 days!!!
I love a great farmer’s market. You know what I dislike though? When there are stands set up selling produce imported from other countries/places. It’s like a trick, because most people assume that anything sold at the farmer’s market is grown at a farm nearby, right?
We used to live by a market that had a rule that if you didn’t grow it, you couldn’t sell it. It was great because it avoided me having to be annoying and ask every seller “did you grow this on your farm?” Anyone else feel this way?
I totally agree! Sometimes the stands are selling stuff that doesn’t come close to growing around our area, like pineapples and bananas. Why are they at the farmer’s market and not at the regular grocery store?
Beautiful farmers Market!! Love the tomatoes -and the blackberries look absolutely amazing! Love “Real Food” on the sign…perfect!
I love the berry picture. Made me drool and go get a bowl of berries from the fridge.
I love our two little farmer’s markets but they are little. I miss the bigger ones where I used to live. But I’ll take good local food wherever I can get it.
Yay for the farmer’s market! Everything looks so interesting
Wei-Wei
This market looks awesome!!! And it looks like you had fun too!
That looks like an awesome farmer’s market!!
Gorgeous market — so much fresh stuff!
I love all the sights and smells of a farmers market.
Saturday mornings are the BEST!! I always look forward to waking up and heading to the farmer’s market
WOW. If I was in Cville I would definitely take advantage of this Market.
That market looks like so much fun. Was that a CUP of jam for tasting? Hehe. Was there any Polyface meat there? You should drive down to the farm some day, its only like 40-50 miles outside C-Ville.
Ha, no! that was my iced coffee!
Gorgeous!!!
Thanks for the “hello Canada” loving.
How do you bike home with all the produce you will surely pick up at a farmer’s market?
Lovely lovely lovely.
Also, dumb question perhaps, but how does your Garmin know the distance you bike? Is it GPS based? I want to learn more!
Yes, it’s GPS!
Your “INN” breakfasts inspired mine today!! Fresh fruit, cereal, zucch muffin w/AB..YUM! Our markets are finally getting better with more local produce coming around. You would be completely amazed at the deliciousness of Colorado peaches. Wow. They are a bit smaller than SC/GA peaches but dripping w/juice + sweetness! mmm
Glad you are having so much fun in your soon to be new town!
I LOVE farmers markets…but you’re right, there’s something about driving to them that doesn’t feel quite right!
The jam you get IS delicious…espescially the plum ones! I don’t knwo why, but there is something so delicious about sweet plum jam from markets! xx
Peaches are so awesome right now in CA. So sweet, yet still a bit crisp.
How many servings does that make? It looks sooo amazing!
No idea! it’s not my recipe
That inn sure does serve up some amazing eats! Everything looks so fresh! Great market day too, I literally want to dive into those berries. Yum!
fun times at the market!
Looks like a really good farmers market.
looove markets! unfortunately I was unable to go to mine today! looks like it’s the grocery store for veggies this week!
that market looks fantastic! my husband and I have made it a tradition to visit farmers markets when we’re on vacation. It’s a great way to support the local community and enjoy some fresh food & treats!
What an awesome market! NICE!
If you ever get towards Madison, WI we have an amazing farmers market around the square on saturday mornings.
Farmers’ markets are so fun!! It looks like its got a little bit of everything for you to enjoy
I foresee kale chips! I love the Charlottesville markets – people are generally so friendly there
AHHH I am so excited you are coming to Charlottesville! I’m a student at the University of Virginia and the Charlottesville City Market has to be my absolute favorite thing about this town. It keeps getting better and better every year and remains a weekly highlight for me.
Have you been to the Corner yet? When you move here I recommend checking it out ASAP, before college students flood in–you can do the holy pairing of coffee at Para and sandwiches from Take It Away, both Charlottesville staples. You also need to check out Rebecca’s Natural Foods (In Barracks right next to Kroger) if you want to get a wider range of local and healthy produce. In Summer and Autumn I usually end up getting all my dry and bulk goods from Rebecca’s and then fresh produce from the Market. Not too bad!
