Back in our groove
~4.5 miles in the HOT HOT morning sun!
Couldn’t have done it without a little ‘ade help in my camelbak!
We slept until the sun woke us up around 7:30 and then set out on our run. Once back, I worked on smoothies for the group.
Ingredients were unknown amounts of:
- Banana
- 1% milk
- Raw rolled oats
- Vega Vanilla Almond
- Chia seeds
- Ice
- Strawberries
Sadly eggs and Puffins seemed to take priority over smoothies and suddenly everyone just wanted “a taste” and I slurped up my SIAB happily solo
And example of the eggs Matt made! [He complimented with smoothie!]
I topped mine with a little granola + coconut mix I brought in a tupperware and coconut butter magic shell
These Puffin crumbs also got incorporated!
The vibe here is more relaxed – no one is rushing out to the ocean! Matt and i are going hunting for an umbrella after breakfast dishes are done.
And I still have 150 pages to read!!!
Have a great day guys

Those smoothies look refreshing and yummy. There’s nothing better than PB Puffins crumbs.
I must be the only person who doesn’t like PB Puffins?
Love the original flavor though.
Haha you sound like me when I was in high school desperately trying to read up my boring summer reading books for English class. I woulda partook in your smoothie party!
Yikes! The weather is so painfully hot this week I don’t know how you could stand it
I was I was right in that last picture!
those smoothies look heavenly, I would have definitely participated in the smoothie love club
enjoy your day relaxing! I am more jelous than you can imagine
Nothing beats smoothies for breakfast in the summer for me!
Wow, those eggs look perfect! As does the smoothie, but I would expect nothing less
Aww, so sad about the smoothies! Most people run off when I offer to make them a green monster. I actually coaxed my spinach-hating sister into trying one this past weekend and she loved it!
Dear Kath, I am living vicariously through your blog this week. Thank you!!!
Smoothies sound great
I always feel like that when I make anything “healthy”. The rest of my family is skeptical and they have “just a taste”, compliment it, then go back to their own stuff
Ah well, more for me? But not before it all goes bad! D:
Wei-Wei
You guys look drenched! It’s def too hot to run here today
A smoothie after a run in the heat sounds perfect to me!
Nothing like a cold refreshing smoothie after a summer workout! I’m curious, what is the texture like with the oats and chia seeds? Hope you have another lovely day at the beach! Don’t forget the sunscreen
looks so peaceful. have a great day!
those smoothies look like a perfect post-run fuel on a hot day!
Hi, Are great harvest breads made only with sourdough leavening? And, is Dakota bread 100% ww?
S
Per Matt: “Most are made with commercial yeast and are not sour and Dakota is 100% WW”
I would have gone for the smoothie especially after you topped it with all that goodness! Enjoy your reading today…hope you find shade!
Those do look beautiful! Though even after all this time I still struggle with smoothie as “food” instead of smoothie as “caloric and nutritious drink to consume while also eating copious amounts of solid food at the same time”… i am working on it!
These posts are making me miss the beach!!
I love how you guys take big family vacations- they always look like so much fun
Ahhh, I just got back from a sweaty run too! Don’t you love running on vacation? Have a fun day!
I am so jealous of your vacation. You completely deserve it Kath.
Mmm – those eggs look delish – nice and peppery!! And the smoothie sounds so good!
I totally would have drank up that smoothie concoction this morning. SO HOT!! A nice cold smoothie must have been amazing after a sweaty morning run.
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on that book!! I still haven’t read it even though it’s been sitting on my bookshelf for some time now.
A smoothie sounds perfect after a hot run!
Looks toasty out there! Props on a good long run!
Those eggs do look pretty yummy
but smoothies are great for hot weather!
The smoothie looks great. I MUST try adding oats to my smoothies!
What a fabulous morning! I would’ve still had your smoothie
That smoothie looks so cool and refreshing right now- it is so hot by me!! Hope you enjoy your “rush-free” day!
So sorry about your unappreciated smoothie efforts.
Have a good day!
What a bummer about that smoothie. Those people are crazy.
I can’t imagine having KERF make a smoothie for me and not drinking it! Oh well, at least you can freeze the leftovers and eat them like ice cream?
That smoothie after a hot run in the heat looks perfect!
Wow! I cannot wait to be on vacation. I have 60 more days to go before our annual Florida vacation.
Love the coconut magic shell…I need to make more! I would have devoured the smoothies!!!
Yay for a morning run! Looks a fun place to run.
Again, have fun with the book.
hey, i’ll take one of the smoothies!
what a gorgeous view and a fabulous run i’m sure!
enjoy your day, kath – sorry no one wanted to smoothie it up with you!
What I would give to be at the beach right now! Hope you’re able to find that umbrella!
I love the use of oats in smoothies – they bring them to another level
If it weren’t so cold and dreary, I’d want a smoothie ASAP
Please sun, come out!
Aw, that last picture is beautiful! I just found your blog through Fitnessista and so far it seems pretty darn good, haha. Those smoothies looks delicious! Do you use a VitaMix Blender? I just use a normal one but it is not exactly equipped for smoothie-making.
Welcome!! Yes, I do use a Vitamix. Love it!
The smoothie looks amazing for sure! I love the Wilmington area, my parents live there in the winter time and it is beautiful. If anyone gets the chance to travel to North Carolina Beaches I say go for it!
I love that you have all the people to share a smoothie with. It is way hot to be running; you’re crazy!
I can’t imagine eating eggs for breakfast on a hot day like that. That smoothie would definitely be my first choice!
I admire your ability to run in the sun. I get so overheated with running in the blazing heat that I stick to the treadmill or later in the evening.
But sounds like you are having a blast.
Another amazing, summery looking breakfast! Yum!
Although i can’t eat them in the morning, Matt’s eggs look scrumptious xx
mmm that SIAB looked delicious!! I liked your additions!
I would have helped you drink the smoothies! I am seeing coconut butter all over the blogosphere lately but I can’t find any (in the UK). It’s a shame because I love coconut!
Nothing better then a little run when vacationing, it’s so enjoyable, well maybe not for everyone.
Have to say, I’d probably succumb to the Puffin love too
