A bonus to not sleeping well = more dreams! I’d say 90% of the dreams I have I enjoy, and there were some fun (and weird!) ones last night! I woke up yesterday saying that my rib muscles and hips were feeling nearly symptom free and things changed for the worse by bedtime. Puzzled. I think the ribs have to do with the baby’s position (because he was clearly under them at bedtime) and the hips – no idea. Sleeping position I guess.
What else is so dreamy? Biscoff. And the crunchy is out of this world! I must locate another jar.
Overnight oats today were composed of:
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup plain yogurt
- 5 chunks of frozen banana (because we’re out of fresh)
- A sprinkle of the last of our blueberries
- 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp vanilla
Sips.
Sweet dreams tonight!

My roommate has just gone down to the States to visit some family while she’s on vacation, and I’m totally just about to text her and ask her to track down some Biscoff for me because I’ve yet to locate it here in Canada!
Looks like some very tasty oats. Have a great day Kath!
I still have yet to try the Biscoff spread. It sounds so yummy.
Breakfast sure looks like a winner today.
Isn’t the crunchy flavor the best? I had to ban it from my house while I’m on a training diet… but I’m drooling over your oats in that jar. I wonder if it’s ok with my coach is I eat an entire jar on cheat day… LOL!
Yes, but the flavor is the same
I’m eating cookie butter with my breakfast. So sinfully good!
I first tried a cookie spread (Speculos) when I was studying abroad in Belgium – brings back so many good memories! That was the first time I had Nutella too
So what does that stuff taste like? I have seen it at the store. It is wheat based?
Yes, cookie based. Not a health food! It tastes like gingersnap cookies minus all the ginger
Where can I find a box of biscoff?
(love the idea of using the last of the jar in the jar!!)
Dreaming actually means you’re sleeping well. It occurs during the REM (rapid eye movement) stage which is considered to be excellent sleep!
Oh good!
I never remember my dreams!!! Occasionaly I’ll remember a snippet but that’s it
I really must go table linen shopping this weekend…I LOVE that placemat!
That jar wouldn’t stand a chance next to me
We just saw Biscoff at Walmart of all places. Not where I’d expect to find it! I think I’ll have to pick up a jar the next time I’m there.
Yum yum yum! Biscoff is awesome!
I can’t believe I still haven’t tried Biscoff spread!! AH!!
world market sells crunchy!!
Oh sweat!
I mean sweet!! haha
Sleeping at the end of pregnancy is the worst. You know, I actually felt like I was getting more sleep (and better sleep) AFTER Lila came!!
Breakfast looks lovely!
That’s good to hear!
What is Biscoff?! I’ve never heard of it…I’m assuming you can’t find it in Canada!
How was the frozen nanner in your oats? Did it melt and get all goopy? We have 80 bajillion frozen bananas in the freezer because I have a bargain banana boarding problem.
A little goopy, but that’s OK with me
I have to admit that I hate frozen banana in my oats…it reminds me of boogers!
haha gross!
Trader Joe’s sells it but its called Speculoos Cookie Butter: http://traderjoes.com/fearless-flyer/article.asp?article_id=561
cookie butter is not nearly as good!! (But still good…)
I haven’t even seen a place where I can get my hands on Biscoff spread- it always sounds so delicious! ….I’m having problems sleeping right now- when I wake up, I can’t get my mind to shut off, the end is just so close I have a BAJILLION (yep, real word
) things on my mind!
I almost never have fresh bananas in my house. My mom will see me with banana ice cream or banana bread and ask “How did you make that?” Duh! Frozen
Oh Yes, I agree, Biscoff can be really dreamy, and after a bad night sleep, it makes my morning very bright and happy!
What’s your favorite Tazo? I’m a massive fan of the Refresh. To die for.
Earl Grey + Awake!
you have me sold on trying the Crunchy version – love the smooth, must try crunchy!
I’m in Belgium and can get my hands on the stuff whenever you want, so let me know if you have trouble tracking down the crunchy kind! Its one of the perks of living here to make up for missing (good, aka trader joes) peanut butter
I bought a jar of crunchy Biscoff and my sister polished it all off. I wish I had tasted some. She said it was delicious!
You can buy them at Cost Plus/World Market. I’ve seen them, but have been holding off until I get through my honey almond butter
I just saw this at the store yesterday, I was tempted to buy it to try but didn’t lol I’ll have to pick some up next time it sounds really good
I LOVE that stuff. I put it in my oatmeal or spread it on a banana. YUM!
i love biscoff as much as the next girl…but how is it real food???
Most definitely NOT a model ingredient list, but not fake either:
Biscoff 57% (wheat flour, sugar, vegetable oil, soy flour, brown sugar, leavening (sodium bicarbonate), salt, cinnamon), canola oil, sugar, emulsifier (soy lecithin), citric acid.
Sleeping those last couple months are the worst! I feel for you!
When I was pregnant with my fourth, I ended up at the physical therapist for some muscle pain. She showed me how to prop myself up at a 45* angle while sleeping. Basically, have your husband stuff as many pillows as it takes behind you (all along your back, rear, legs, head) and in front (under hip, belly, legs), until your comfortably facing a 45* angle. Of course, stuff a pillow between your knees and arms. It takes a lot of pillows, but made a HUGE difference for me. Hope it helps!
Hi Kath, I have a general question about Ball jars. I have been thinking of getting these jars to store all dry items in the kitchen like beans, oats and other grains. I read online that the lids of these containers have BPA.
Since I have seen these jars in your kitchen often, I was wondering if you are aware of this issues and if you have any workaround for the lids.
Thanks !!
Hmm I haven’t heard that they have BPA. They are metal, but there might actually be a plastic liner on the inside. I’m not sure. Since the food doesn’t touch it very often, I haven’t been concerned
Neha,
I believe you can buy plastic lids for the Ball containers. I use mine to store dry goods too but the food does not touch the lid.
I’m POSITIVE I could not control myself around that Biscoff…no to cookie butter in my house-the entire jar would be licked clean in under an hour! Just too good!!!
LOVE Biscoff! I haven’t tried the crunchy version though.
I had some crazy dreams last night! So…do you feel like you dream more while you are pregnant? Just curious!
Yeah, I think so
We’re obsessed with Biscoff crunchy in our house. Walmart sells the creamy and the crunchy Biscoff for $3.78 per jar which is the lowest price I’ve seen. You can also get it on Amazon but it’s more expensive. I’ve been buying jars for my friends and once they try it, they too are hooked!
I have a lot of different dreams at night as well. I just feel restless from many consecutive nights of not-so-great sleep.

Biscoff spread looks so yummy! Does it taste sorta caramel-like?
I need to try Biscoff spread!
I had oats in a jar this morning too! And so did Meghann! There must be something in the air
i’ve never gotten around to trying biscoff, but would love to one day! i’ll have to search for it soon!
I feel as if when I remember my dreams in the morning, I am also more tired. I think it’s because you come out of your deepest sleep or one of the deepest stages of sleep when you are dreaming.
I couldn’t wait for that hip pain to go away when I was pg! I actually slept on the couch for the last half of my pregnancy. Our couch was much firmer than our pillow top mattress. Somehow that helped me get some relief! When I think of having a 3rd baby it’s the thing i dread the most! Hope you can find something that helps!
So fun you posted Biscoff spread this morning. I just got the cookies on the flight to NYC and thought of you, of course!
I STILL haven’t tried biscoff spread yet, but I HAVE tried that dark chocolate bar they sell at Trader Joe’s that has biscoff spread inside the chocolate. Have you tried it? It’s ridiculously good!
I haven’t!
I can’t keep biscoff spread in my house, I have no control! It starts off innocently, which a little in my oatmeal or spread on pancakes, but then one day I eat it straight from the jar with a spoon and it “disappears.” I know my limits, biscoff (and nutella) cannot be in my house.
I bought a jar of Biscoff crunchy on Amazon for $8 or so – with Prime shipping, not a terrible price. It is soo addictive!
Found Biscoff at Whole Foods in Oklahoma. DELICIOUS! Used a spoonful in a smoothie for my kids when I was out of peanut butter….not as healthy but OH SO GOOD!!! It was a HIT!
Thanks for the tip! I was unaware the OKC Whole Foods carried it.
Weirdest timing EVER. I haven’t had overnight oats in MONTHS, but I spotted my biscoff jar on 99% empty yesterday, so I decided it was meant to be. I followed your general recipe last night (I totally looked it up), and topped it with bananas and blueberries today. Cue Twilight Zone music
It totally reminded me how much I love them though – must keep them in breakfast rotation!
I just bought Biscoff for the first time last week (and it was the crunchy kind) and I am SOOOO in love! I saw it on the shelf while grocery shopping and told my husband I wanted to get it because I saw it on your blog. He automatically thought it was going to be some kind of weird health food spread, but of course, one taste and he LOVED it.
Yeah, I discovered the cookie butter at Trader Joe’s last time I was there. I can only buy a jar every once in a while because I can eat a jar of it in a week!
Your oats look delicious and very creamy. That is a great idea to add that peanut butter to them.
I’m just curious what else could be used besides chia seeds?? I’m assuming it’s for thickening up?
Flax? Yes, just for thickening
