While everyone else slept this afternoon, Matt and I went out exploring, looking for art and soaking up a NOLA Saturday afternoon.
We found a rainbow!
I dressed in purple, green + gold to celebrate Mardi Gras
We walked for about an hour and a half – my feet are tired! We found a few pieces of art, but we don’t want to spend more than $20-30 so our options are limited!
But we did find a brewpub!

Complete with live jazz!
I was still stuffed from linner and this beer filled me right up again. We did a tasting of their selections and I had about 2 sips of each. None of them were noteworthy though.
We moved on to another bar – Pat O’Brien’s (pretty famous, I hear). It was huuuuge and very crowded. My newest trick is to have Matt get drinks and give me a sip while I stick to water/soda. Then I get to taste them without the negative alcohol effects. I’ve really gotten to the point where I don’t need alcohol at all to have a good time. So long as I have some kind of drink in my hand to sip, I’m happy.
Here’s our famous hurricane + my soda
We spent some rockin’ times at the piano bar and enjoyed a Mint Julip and another soda with an orange slice
We met our family and friends at a very cool Greek restaurant called Attiti. It was the perfect laid back atmosphere!
Matt and I weren’t hungry, but we felt a bit empty, so we decided to get a bite. We settled on this stellar platter of grape leaves, falafel, hummus, baba ghanoush, tomatoes and GREEK YOGURT!!! Plus pitas –
I made a little plate. Everything was fantastic!! Best Greek food I’ve ever had.
But that wasn’t all – I had more yogurt and some more pita + hummus. Taste > willpower.
But the night got better! Gena came to meet me! She’s here for her friend’s MBA graduation and we made plans to finally meet in person. She is totally awesome, and so incredibly cool. I’m very excited about a potential NYC trip to visit and explore another city!!
OK, Gena is still here and we need to talk more so I am not being rude and blogging in front of her! I had such a great night tonight listening to music, spending a little alone time with Matt and partying in this insanely wild yet cool city
Tomorrow:
- Run
- Blog meet-up with Casey + Renee
- Shopping
- Lunch with Andrew
- Fly home late afternoon
Goodnight guys!

I like your outfit!! Too cute. Have a great Sunday!
Who knew you could get such awesome Greek food in Nawlins!
Oh, I’m so glad you met Gena. I just love her and am so jealous!
Ooooh, the Greek food looks fab! I do the same thing with my husband; he orders a drink, I have a sip and then neither of us finish it lol. I generally don’t like any sort of alcohol mixed with food… not even wine
Jenn
PS. Definitely try to make it to NYC! We live about 85 miles from the city in Sullivan county NY but we got married in Manhattan and try to go there as often as possible, time permitting, of course. Christmastime is one of the best times to be there.

Glad you’re having a blast in NOLA!! I want to book my flight right now, it looks like a great city!
It looks like you’re having such a good time! I’m going on a cruise in a few days, so I might just have to steal some of your vacationing tips. The most important thing I think I need to remember is just because it’s there, doesn’t mean I have to eat it.
And what is THIS I here about a trip to NY. Definitely send me an email WHEN you decide to come, I would love to meet up.
I’m not a beer drinker, but I’ll steal sips of my boyfriend’s. It’s a great strategy.

The first brewpub looks so much fun with live jazz! I’m not a big beer drinker either, although my Dad started brewing his own and makes me try it every time – and I feel too bad to turn him down! I’m acquiring a taste for it now.
