Oh boy, the cheese + crackers I had before bed didn’t have an impact on sleep. I was up from 3:30 (when Matt got a call from the bakery) until 6am. I did a lot of reading and also snacked on cottage cheese with peanut butter stirred in. Hard to tell if that worked or if I just got drowsy again as the sun rose since there was a delay. Luckily I am able to go back to sleep and don’t have to be up early work, so this insomnia is not the worst it could be. Still just kind of annoying and unpredictable.
Breakfast was no work at all! Overnight oats with blackberries and banana topped with Cville Cluster and Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Almond Butter. Delicious.
Plus some hot raspberry tea! I am so glad that this tea and I get along well. It could taste like some bitter herbs, but it’s really more like a mild black tea.
Excited to put our brand new hand-sewn crib skirt on this morning!!

Sorry you had a restless night again. Hopefully that’ll be over soon and at least when you’re up in the middle of the night you’ll have a little nugget making it worth losing sleep.
I love the dishrag. Totally brought me back to my grandma’s house when I was a kid! I need to find some like that.
I always look forward to reading your blog – have been following you for over a year now. I’m heading off for a week and a half of holidays with no computer and hope to read good baby news when I get back. All the best with your delivery, Kath, and much joy as a new family together.
Margaret,
mother of 4 (half grown)
Thanks Margaret! Have a great trip and I ALSO hope there is baby news when you return : )
Random question alert! I’ve always wondered but never asked: do you ever have repeat blog post titles? Or do you always check before posting if the title has been used before?
I figured I might as well ask now… because I’m sure you’ll be a lot busier in a few weeks (or days?!) time.
Thanks!
YES – if you notice a title says -# then I’ve used it before. It appears I’ve used this one 3 times!! Haha. I can’t remember my titles at all : )
Ha, I was actually just wondering about that! I’ve only been blogging for less than a year now and I feel like I’ve accidentally reused titles. I can’t even imagine how you wouldn’t repeat sometimes!
Sorry to hear about the insomnia Kath
I have insomnia too sometimes – trouble falling asleep, and if I do happen to go to bed early, I’ll wake up at 3 or 4am and won’t be able to sleep again. Sometimes having some hot milk with a small amount of oatmeal (w/ a tiny bit of PB or AB) helps me fall asleep again.
Oddly enough – I wonder if the insomnia is your body getting ready for night feedings for the baby?!
PS: SOOO excited for you and Matt – can’t wait for Baby Kerf to arrive
glad to hear you did drift back off – so frustrating when insomnia strikes.
cute little tea towel!
Good luck with that crib skirt. Was it an Etsy find? I hope pics are coming!
My friend made it!!
What a wonderful looking breakfast! I might have to give overnight oats a try. Sorry for your crappy sleep but at least before too long you’ll have a beautiful little one to admire on those sleepless nights.
My best friend had terrible insomnia right before she had her son. Maybe soon now!
aww sorry you had such a broken up sleep! At least you can relax this morning
Breakfast looks great!
Cute kitchen towel! Hopefully you get a nap in today.
Is your hand-sewn crib skirt from Etsy?

My friend made it : )
Hi Kath!
If I order some granola today online, do you know when I would receive it? Thanks
Matt is pretty prompt – I would guess in a few days to at most a week
Thanks! I just put in my order
YUM!
That looks so good! I haven’t had overnight oats all summer!–time to make a mental note to have them this week
I think I’d die if I didn’t sleep well….so sorry to hear about that insomnia! Ugh. Have a good day!
Kath, you are so mindful of what’s happening with your body that I bet baby KERF is too. Perhaps the early morning wake-up call is his way of saying that will be his feeding time!
Your overnight oats always look so crunchy…are they actually or is it just a camera trick?
I think you’re just noticing the Cville Cluster Granola on top?
Aah yea you’re right. It was an optical illusion then
Wishing you all the best for your labor and delivery. Your preparations are so thorough, and your attitude so positive that I think you’ll weather whatever takes place!
I enjoy your blog, and have gotten some good food ideas from reading it. Most specifically, the low + slow sweet potatoes! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Very true, at least you don’t have a strictly scheduled job that you have to get up and go to in the morning, although I’m sure the insommia is still very annoying!
I know, that would be tough if an alarm clock was looming!
Hey Kath! I’ve been following your blog for a few years now. Yours was the very first one i stumbled upon, and which got me hooked! I always refer back to your blog as the standard for great story telling, beautiful pictures, yummy recipes, and of course, motivation! Keep up the great work
Thank you Chelsea!
Kath – the same thing happened to me at the end of my pregnancy. I swear my body was training me for the nighttime feeds. I would get 3-4 hours sleep and then wake up. A similar schedule to a breastfeeding baby who wants food every 3-4 hours. Your body knows what it is doing. Enjoy the last few days with your bump.
I read your blog for the first time last night. I had just heard of overnight oats and was looking for a recipe. To my absolute delight, it led me to your blog…..now I can’t stop reading! The pictures are beautiful! Thank you
Welcome!!
Sorry you had such a bad night’s sleep – there’s nothing worse
I had the same breakfast this morning! Can’t beat the convenience and nothing tops it off better than Cville Cluster
That’s a cute napkin! The colors are great!
Hey Kath! I was just wondering how much granola you usually put on top of your overnight oats? I’m afraid of overpouring so I usually skip it, but yours always looks so good and I’d like to try it. Thanks!
About 2 tbsp?
