A few weeks ago, when Restaurant Week was just announced, Karen and I made our plans without Matt. But then we wondered if perhaps he might feel left out (since we are all three such foodies and all!) and decided to schedule a second night out on the town to include him. Karen and I made our restaurant rounds this week and have proclaimed that we’re cooking in through next weekend minimum!
Our date tonight took us to C&O, a famous Cville restaurant I’ve been dying to go to since we moved here!
“In America” – that’s a pretty big accolade!
Prior to our evening out, we stopped by Faith + Tate’s to say hello to a dinner party we unfortunately had to miss
Faith hooked me up with some homemade kombucha!
And I got to play with a fun baby girl!
She was so sweet!!
We walked to Faith + Tate’s and then walked on to the restaurant – about 2 miles in total.
So many nooks + crannies!!
We started off with some amazing warm bread + buttah
And a glass of Old Vine Zin
First Course
Loved the crab dish – especially the chimacharri sauce!!! It was bright and super herby.
Second Course
Man OH man!!!!!!!! This guy totally exceeded expectations!! It was a phylo dough stuffed with kale and peppers and the PESTO was just incredible!!! I nearly finished it all and am now super stuffed!
Served with asparagus and rice
Dessert
We each ordered a different dessert so we could try all three
Impossible to choose a favorite!!
I am now guzzling water and looking forward to the week ahead – lots to do!!

That winter vegetable tart looked amazing!! I just might fly all the way out there for that alone!
Awww, that baby is ADORABLE!!
Your dinner and dessert look phenomenal! Sometimes, I’d like to eat dinner out every night and not do any grocery shopping. But I really do enjoy cooking, so I don’t want to completely abandon my kitchen just yet. hehe
The maple pecan and chocolate pots de creme look to DIE for! I had a redone chocolate mousse with an avocado base today, and it was heaven on a spoon. So glad you had a wonderful evening!:)
Such an adorable baby!
Glad you all had a fun time over good foods
I like the font of your header!
That tart looks amazing! I could eat the whole thing
Love the look of the restaurant! So relaxing and the food looks amazing!
AAAAH!!! When I was studying at UVA in 2007-8, and my parents came over from Australia for Spring Break, we went to C & O as our fancy last night dinner
I had the cheeseplate and it was amazing, but I couldn’t look at cheese for about another two months. Teehee!

Your hair color is so pretty! Makes me jealous.
Thank you 2 : )
gorgeous…and how awesome that they support local farmers too! i would’ve been all over that maple pecan tart.
I love how you take notice of the use of America! It’s one of my big pet peeves when people say America or Americans when they’re only referring to the United States, although my boyfriend in particular gets annoyed at me for arguing over semantics
I’ve been wanting to make homemade kombucha for a while now! It’s going back on my to-do list. Your dinner looks great.
All of the food you ate looks delicious, but my eyes are glued to the amazing desserts!! They look incredible!
this post reminds me i have yet to take advantage of LA restaurant week!!!
I love the third picture of you and the baby where she’s smiling… that little smile is a huge heart warmer!

That looked like a great dinner! You can’t go wrong with the Post’s recommendations for food
Okay, I have to say this again. I LOVE RESTAURANT WEEKS!! I can’t wait for ours to start up.
PS- that is an amazing picture of you holding the baby! You look so natural!
WOW! What a meal! It looks amazing. I am already thinking of how I can recreate the kale and phyllo dish.
I love living vicraously through your dining out. Cville seems to have some lovely restaurants.
I am only 90 minutes from nyc…i should take advantage of restaurant week.
I love finally getting to those restaurants on the “to-dine at” list. The kale phylo dish looks unreal. That would be fun to recreate!
That little girl looks like she could be your daugher. ::sigh:; Whenever I hold a baby, my ovaries start to ache hardcore!!!
You make me want to start eating out more often. The meals you order always look so incredible!
love that place! we went last time we were there — it was my friend vickie’s favorite while she lived in cville — apparently they have a late night menu that is fun and pretty reasonable in price.
Oh my goodness, what an incredible meal! Your main course sounds amazing. Great photos Kath!
The Winter Vegetable Tart looks divine! C’ville seems to have a ton of unique, eclectic restaurants. I’m jealous!
Mmmm! Definitely going on my list!
I had my rehearsal dinner there. I love C&O, such good food!
I certainly can see why you guys chose to move to C-ville…it’s so beautiful and from your posts I can tell it’s got that great “feel”…plus you can walk and bike everywhere! Yes, I’m a teensy bit jealous
love,
cathy b.
You look so CUTE with that little girl!! Great pics!!
All that food looks fantastic!! Especially that tart! I swear, nothing made with phyllo dough can ever taste bad.
That food looks so incredible! The atmosphere is really cute and cozy too! What a fun date with Matt and Karen!
looks like an amazing meal! and i love that you walk everywhere!
Oh Kath, you make me miss Cville so much sometimes! That meal looks amazing, and the pics of you with the baby girl are beautiful!
Do you ever feel weird taking pictures of the restaurant? I was in a bar this past weekend and got very self conscious taking pictures of the bar (I am fine with my own plate, or things on my table). Any tips?
Sometimes when I’m seated front and center. But most people probably think I’m a food critic
that meal looks amazing!
My head is trying to think of ways to make the winter vegetable tart already!
what a lovely night! i love that pic of matt and his mom-too cute. my hubs and i love it that we can walk everywhere too. it makes meals out so much fun and gives you a bit of help digesting
What a gorgeous baby! The tart was pretty too.
This food looks soooooo good! Wow!
Love that last picture!
How precious is that baby!? She has beautiful eyes!
This restaurant looks amazing! I may have to include it on my site.
Katie
Hi Kath! I am a teenager and I love your blog! I am so glad you liked the C&O! My family lived in Cville for 4 years when I was little and the owners daughter has been one of my best friends ever since! They are wonderful people so I am so glad you liked the C&O! Its delicious!
Love the food pictures, but I can’t help but TOTALLY CRINGE at the incorrect use of the word “its” TWICE in that quote about the restaurant…
“From ITS humble beginnings,” and “delights ITS guests.”
I’m a high-school English teacher and it drives me nuts that people don’t get that one. I see it all the time on food blogs … not saying everyone has to be an English major, but to publish on the internet I think some writers need to do a little more grammar check. Yours is usually good.
OH you are very right!! I thought I had used it wrong at first and was sweating!
Kirsten
Thanks for pointing out the ITS business. We’re fixing it this morning. Many thanks to everyone for the positive comments.
Dave Simpson / C&O Proprietor
Thanks for stopping by Dave!
Awesome!!! Hope to visit your restaurant sometime.
Kristin
So would this be good as a v_day dinner date? We are trying to decide where to go!
If it’s not all the way booked!
looks like a great time
