Amber Waves Of Grain

You can feel it. You can smell it. We’re getting a real taste of spring today and it tastes SO GOOD!

BLOG-9687

50* and sunny!!!

Matt and I kicked off the afternoon with a run – and man was it hard! I think I lost some of my running mojo in Montana. I barely made it through 4.8 miles!

Before we left, a date.

BLOG-9674

Me and my running date talked and talked. It was a good strategy to get him to slow down on the hills!

BLOG-9675

BLOG-9677

I loved being alone this past week. I put all my OCD clutter habits in full effect. But I will say, the house feels much more like a home when the husband is here <3

Karen stopped over to say hello and brought over a loaf of the No Knead Bread that has been famous via the NY Times for some time

BLOG-9678

She has made it a few times now – this one had sunflower seeds throughout. I’m not sure if she used whole grain flour or not – will have to ask.

We all dug in for a taste. It’s great!! SO chewy and yeasty. A bit different than Great Harvest style, but definitely one to have in the rotation of your household!

BLOG-9681

I could not wait to have a cheese + jam sandwich on a slice for lunch!

BLOG-9690

BLOG-9700

Thick slabs of Organic Valley Sharp White Cheddar (my very favorite sandwich cheese!) with GH jam and spinach for color

BLOG-9683

On the side my staple veg with some of that Whole Foods Red Pepper hummus

BLOG-9685BLOG-9697

A super awesome Harry + David pear

BLOG-9702BLOG-9684

So much delicious!

BLOG-9688

Enjoyed in the sunshine

BLOG-9693

Did you know my mom, the author, wrote a picture book about America The Beautiful and Katharine Lee Bates? When you Google Image Search for “Katharine Lee Bates” her book image and website [created by moi!] comes up!

image

How cool that my name is also Katherine (spelled differently though!) and I’m going to be selling amber waves of grain for a living! I also live amongst beautiful purple mountains.

Time to play!
