Meals + Miles

October 24, 2010

Today was what Sundays are all about: relax, recharge, reflect, and eat leftovers!

Those of us who remained after the oatmeal brunch ended sat around and gabbed about life and blogs and food and how fun the day before was

Around 1:30, lunch was mentioned, and we broke out the party leftovers like the day after Thanksgiving.

Plus a pile of fresh chopped veg

I made an awesome bowl of mish

Heavy on the mosh!

Arugula, spinach, veggies, crackers, pita chips, hummus, cheese, root veggies, kale salad and lamb salami.

After lunch, Matt and I drove Meghann back to Richmond. It was a gorgeous fall day for a drive, and the miles went by quickly with chatter of Harry Potter and Disney World. I hope to visit Meghann in February! It was sad saying goodbye. I am so thankful to have had friends to travel to celebrate with me!

Once home I had a few pita chips..

And sped cleaned the whole house. Vacuumed. Took off sheets. Got laundry started. Spot cleaned floors + walls (walls!?). It’s feeling Real Simple again!

Dinner tonight was a heat-n-eat dish of more leftovers. Our party crockpot soup (which was SO GOOD made with the addition of 3 sweet potatoes!) topped with greek yogurt and goat cheese for some protein and some toasted croutons for crunch. Yum!

Just popped a square of dark chocolate and am calling it a night. I am so tired!! Would it be bad for me to go to bed at 8PM? Ohhhhhh – how about a bubble bath first!!! Maybe I’ll clean the tub at the same time…. Winking smile

It’s never bad to go to bed at 8pm… that’s like my standard time. Me = granny.

2 Dimple Snatcher October 24, 2010 at 8:20 pm

Same here.
I’m 22 and me=granny.
Who knew I’d grew up and fall completely head over heels in love with sleeptime?!

3 holly @ couchpotatoathlete October 24, 2010 at 7:03 pm

I love going to bed early, but 8pm is toooo early for me. I try to make it to 9 at least :)

Long car rides don’t bother me much, unless I am driving alone. But if I have Jason or a friend/family member with it just flies by!

4 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) October 24, 2010 at 7:04 pm

I should move to Cville and be your official hand model :)

THANKS for such a great weekend!! I had a blast gabbing about all things blogs and food.

The cookies are gone. Whoops!

5 Kath October 24, 2010 at 7:05 pm

haha – you should! Perhaps kneading some GH bread!?

My cookies are now frozen!

6 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) October 24, 2010 at 9:09 pm

I’m SERIOUSLY considering it…if you and Matt are serious too! I’m already in love with Cville.

7 Amanda (The Nutritionist Reviews) October 24, 2010 at 7:04 pm

10 Angie (My Life in Bites) October 24, 2010 at 7:06 pm

I love soups during the fall; they only get better and better as the days pass!

I was definitely contemplating going to bed right about now, too. I think I shall but I’ll take a book and cup of tea with me.

11 chelsey @ clean eating chelsey October 24, 2010 at 7:06 pm

It looks like you had a fabulous birthday weekend Kath. Happy Birthday once again! 😀

29 Hope October 24, 2010 at 8:21 pm

I do the same thing if I’m super tired, it gets to 8pm and think about going to bed – I reckon if you have a bath then bed its usually at least 8.30pm which is acceptable lol

30 Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday October 24, 2010 at 8:30 pm

I haven’t gone to bed that early since I was a kid. But then again, I don’t wake up early enough to warrant going to bed at 8.

31 lynn (The Actors Diet) October 24, 2010 at 8:35 pm

i never think of adding yogurt to soup for protein! glad you had a wonderful weekend. i wanna go to disneyworld and harry potter land too!!!

32 S @ October 24, 2010 at 8:45 pm

34 Sam October 24, 2010 at 8:54 pm

I had the same soup for lunch. I made it in the crockpot last week & froze a bunch of it into individual portions. It is so good.

35 Emily October 24, 2010 at 9:08 pm

Your birthday weekend looked wonderful! It’s so amazing that blogging has brought you close with so many wonderful people who share your passions and are also willing to make the trip to be with you on your day :) Enjoy the evening and have a great bday week :)

36 Amy K. @ onehealthypeanut October 24, 2010 at 9:16 pm

I love your spoons! Such a little thing but makes meals so much more enjoyable!!

37 Claire (Low Impact Fashionista) October 24, 2010 at 9:18 pm

I love mish-mosh lunch salads! I make them all the time to use up leftovers before they go bad. I have to make your crock pot soup- it looks so hearty and delectable, I’m almost drooling over the pictures…

38 Katie October 24, 2010 at 9:57 pm

Early bedtimes are mandatory on Sundays.

39 Melissa October 24, 2010 at 10:05 pm

I agree with Katie! Early bedtime (and/or afternoon naps) are definitely mandatory on Sundays!

40 Lesley Lifting Life October 24, 2010 at 10:10 pm

Bubble bath + 8 pm bedtime sounds so perfect!

42 Hannah October 24, 2010 at 11:29 pm

Okay, our leftovers growing up *never* looked as good as that! Envy!

43 Marina October 25, 2010 at 12:12 am

Sundays are all about relaxing and going early to bed, specially after a weekend filled with activities like yours

44 Maria October 25, 2010 at 4:49 am

Wow… It all looks so delicious. Especially the mish mosh lunch bowl!
And I think 8pm is a perfectly acceptable hour to sleep haha

45 Christie {Honoring Health} October 25, 2010 at 5:19 am

I agree with the others that said that 8pm is a great bedtime. I always go to sleep between 8 and 9pm. The result is that I am up at the crack of dawn but I am so much more a morning person!

46 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) October 25, 2010 at 6:25 am

Great friends are hard to come by and when you find them you definitely hold on. It is always saying good bye even if it is only for a little while. I hope you have a nice evening and got some rest! Have a great week Kath!

47 Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin October 25, 2010 at 6:47 am

I love your random lunch! The best thing about parties is always the leftovers the day after. 😉

48 Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) October 25, 2010 at 6:56 am

I love random lunches, birthday weekends, and ending the day with dark chocolate and a bath. Your day sounds totally perfect. 😀

49 Jill October 25, 2010 at 3:13 pm

I go to bed at 8 pm all the time. Especially when I have been running and working out early that morning.
