Tonight turned into a movie night when I realized The Other Boleyn Girl is due back Friday instead of Saturday.
But first…
I came home from class today Starving with a capital S! My *gut* instinct was to have yogurt, which is my go-to “I’m starving” snack, but then I remembered the loaf of bread the husband made and had a hunk of that. OH MY GOSH it was so good!!!
But then I decided yogurt would sit better in my stomach and decided to have that for my official snack rather than an official piece of bread with toppings. With GoLean and PB&J. Clearly I was hungry!
I had a coffee shop date with the production company who filmed our day-in-the-life for Current.com. They wanted to talk to us about the possibility of pitching a TV show on our behalf!!!!! They got great footage from their first visit to put a piece together and said the husband and I have a lot of talent on camera. It could take months, years (if at all!) to get a bite, so I’m not getting my hopes up, but it was still a really exciting afternoon. I had a decaf iced coffee with skim while I was there.
When I got home I had a little snack of about 5 crackers with hummus (it was a snacky day – I blame last night’s lack of sleep). This was my first time trying the roasted veggie crackers. I think they are good, but need a little salt. I’m still a bigger fan of the honey sesame, but these make a fun mix.
The husband and I were planning to do a Florentine pasta tonight, but I spoiled my appetite and wanted to do something lighter, so we assembled salads.
- Romaine
- Broccoli (1 C), microwaved to soften
- A carrot, chopped
- A celery stalk
- 1/2 cup garbanzo beans (made from scratch on Sunday)
- Avocado (~1 oz)
- Kalamata olives (~5)
- Wheatberries (just a sprinkle)
- Hummus (2 tbsp?)
- Goat cheese (2 tbsp?)
Plus a bread toast on the side –
Mid-movie dessert, delivered by the husband –
I loved the movie, but it was so sad!!!!!! I wasn’t expecting the ending (even though I’m a history major and knew how it ended). I’ve got a splitting shoulder/headache and need to catch up on sleep, so I’m off to bed. Tomorrow’s our second Micro Exam and I should have studied tonight, but MEH. I WILL focus tomorrow afternoon.
Goodnight : )

AWESOME about the tv show!!! What a way to get out there and talk about nutrition and what you guys love! Props to you guys!
a tv show would be fabulous!! would it be more like reality tv or you guys hosting a show and actually talking to the cameras? it may be too early to know but it sounds great
Oh wow, congrats! That’s awesome! Honestly if the show just showed the bread baking I would watch– it looks amazing!!
Are the fire roasted kashi crackers, spicy by any chance? I want to try them but I’m afraid they’ll be too hot. I think its the devil horns on the box…. they look suspicious.
HELL YES ABOUT THE TV SHOW!!!!!!!
Eeek, hope you feel better soon!!
That is awesome news!Congrats!
That bread looks amazing!
After watching that movie i wanted to look at a huge flow chart of the royal families!!! (dork
) Salad looks delicious!
Whoa you’re going to be famous! I know what you mean about the movie. As always, I liked the book better.

Your own TV show?! Wow, oh wow!
Holy Cow – congrats!
Yeah! Can’t wait to see what happens!
PS, that’s how Jon and Kate Plus 8 got their show, they just did a bunch of specials until someone pitched a show on their behalf.
i always knew you’d be famous! seriously.
tell the production company they can do a special on my wedding, if they like
You guys would be perfect for a show…congrats!
If you liked the movie, you should read the book…it’s fantastic!
Congrats about the possibility of a TV show! You know we’d all watch it
I know it may be a long way of (if at all) but it’s still so exciting!
I would definitely watch your show– so cool! I have that same headache so I’m hitting the hay too. Hope you have a good night’s sleep!
That looks like a scrumptious salad! Plus the bread! Wow, I want to be adopted into your family.
If you liked the movie, I highly recommend the book. I thought it was great and an easy read (and a great break from school work). In general, I was a fan of the author and she has books on the other wives of Henry VIII as well.
And yay for the great footage!
Thats so exciting ablut the tv show!
I love that movie. My friends and I drove 1 hr to Savannah to see it because it wasn’t playing in out theatre.
That would be so cool if you got a show! I would definitely tune in!
I loved the movie the Other Boleyn Girl. It was so sad though.
Wow! SO cool! I hope it works outs! We’ll all be able to say, “I knew Kath way back when she was just a blogger!”
hey, i was wondering how you guys store your unused avocado? I only ever eat half and then the other half goes all brown and yucky and then i never eat it cause it looks so gross. any tips?
Man, I’ve been seeing a lot of bread on blogs recently. Any homemade bread with a crust the color of yours has to be good. I wish I could just make crust because I always pull out the interior of bread but I hate wasting!
TV SHOW!!!!!!!!!!! omg that is SOOOOO exciting, Kath + Matt!!!!!
someone mentioned Jon and Kate plus 8, oh my gosh! is any one else obsessed? I’m not sure which is my bigger guilty pleasure, that show or this blog!
ooooo i LOVE the fire roasted veggie TLC crackers. they are so hard to find in my neck of the woods, though.

That is SO exciting about the possibility of a tv show. Must feel strange to you and the Husband though – at least you know you’d have a built-in audience!
Good luck on your exam tomorrow!
How exciting about the show, good luck that is awesome!
I hope the TV show happens!
I love the Other Boleyn Girl!! I read the book a year or two ago and I was so excited that they made it a movie! I’m glad you liked it, historical fiction is awesome! The story is already so juicy, then Phillipa Gregory added so much drama to the story (in a good way). I highly recommend the book, so much more to it than the movie.
the fire roasted veggie TLC crackers DEF need salt!
Thanks for all the congrats guys!!!

Wow what amazing news! Congrats Kath and Husband!
CONGRATS KATH!!! That is excellent. Your sald looks delicious…. I am really happy for you guys. Great work!
Love the idea of a TV show! Something on the Food Network would be awesome… I always said I wished they had a show that featured less meat-oriented recipes and discussed moving as a non-negotiable. You and Matt would be great!
I really didn’t like that movie. Maybe because I read the book?
Does less sleep make you hungrier/snack more? I’m awfully tired today.
runjess ,
Yes, I am always hungrier when I get less sleep.

A TV show would be awesome! I would definitely watch!
I enjoyed the movie too..but The Book was SO much better. The movie left out a lot of good drama. I guess it’s too much info for a 2 hour movie!
Hi Kath – that’s awesome news about the TV show! Congrats!
