Lazy! (And Some News)

September 30, 2008

Tonight turned into a movie night when I realized The Other Boleyn Girl  is due back Friday instead of Saturday.

But first…

I came home from class today Starving with a capital S! My *gut* instinct was to have yogurt, which is my go-to “I’m starving” snack, but then I remembered the loaf of bread the husband made and had a hunk of that. OH MY GOSH it was so good!!!

But then I decided yogurt would sit better in my stomach and decided to have that for my official snack rather than an official piece of bread with toppings. With GoLean and PB&J. Clearly I was hungry!

I had a coffee shop date with the production company who filmed our day-in-the-life for They wanted to talk to us about the possibility of pitching a TV show on our behalf!!!!! They got great footage from their first visit to put a piece together and said the husband and I have a lot of talent on camera. It could take months, years (if at all!) to get a bite, so I’m not getting my hopes up, but it was still a really exciting afternoon. I had a decaf iced coffee with skim while I was there.

When I got home I had a little snack of about 5 crackers with hummus (it was a snacky day – I blame last night’s lack of sleep). This was my first time trying the roasted veggie crackers. I think they are good, but need a little salt. I’m still a bigger fan of the honey sesame, but these make a fun mix.

The husband and I were planning to do a Florentine pasta tonight, but I spoiled my appetite and wanted to do something lighter, so we assembled salads.

  • Romaine
  • Broccoli (1 C), microwaved to soften
  • A carrot, chopped
  • A celery stalk
  • 1/2 cup garbanzo beans (made from scratch on Sunday)
  • Avocado (~1 oz)
  • Kalamata olives (~5)
  • Wheatberries (just a sprinkle)
  • Hummus (2 tbsp?)
  • Goat cheese (2 tbsp?)

Plus a bread toast on the side –

Mid-movie dessert, delivered by the husband –

I loved the movie, but it was so sad!!!!!! I wasn’t expecting the ending (even though I’m a history major and knew how it ended). I’ve got a splitting shoulder/headache and need to catch up on sleep, so I’m off to bed. Tomorrow’s our second Micro Exam and I should have studied tonight, but MEH. I WILL focus tomorrow afternoon.

Goodnight : )

a tv show would be fabulous!! would it be more like reality tv or you guys hosting a show and actually talking to the cameras? it may be too early to know but it sounds great :)

3 Lauren September 30, 2008 at 8:33 pm

Oh wow, congrats! That’s awesome! Honestly if the show just showed the bread baking I would watch– it looks amazing!!

Are the fire roasted kashi crackers, spicy by any chance? I want to try them but I’m afraid they’ll be too hot. I think its the devil horns on the box…. they look suspicious.

4 VeggieGirl September 30, 2008 at 8:34 pm

19 Alison September 30, 2008 at 9:14 pm

I would definitely watch your show– so cool! I have that same headache so I’m hitting the hay too. Hope you have a good night’s sleep!

20 Kelsey September 30, 2008 at 9:16 pm

That looks like a scrumptious salad! Plus the bread! Wow, I want to be adopted into your family. 😀

21 Amanda September 30, 2008 at 9:20 pm

If you liked the movie, I highly recommend the book. I thought it was great and an easy read (and a great break from school work). In general, I was a fan of the author and she has books on the other wives of Henry VIII as well.

And yay for the great footage!

22 Cassidy September 30, 2008 at 9:25 pm

Thats so exciting ablut the tv show!
I love that movie. My friends and I drove 1 hr to Savannah to see it because it wasn’t playing in out theatre.

23 Molly September 30, 2008 at 9:43 pm

That would be so cool if you got a show! I would definitely tune in!

I loved the movie the Other Boleyn Girl. It was so sad though.

24 Tina September 30, 2008 at 9:52 pm

Wow! SO cool! I hope it works outs! We’ll all be able to say, “I knew Kath way back when she was just a blogger!” :)

25 zoe September 30, 2008 at 10:04 pm

hey, i was wondering how you guys store your unused avocado? I only ever eat half and then the other half goes all brown and yucky and then i never eat it cause it looks so gross. any tips? :)

26 Nick September 30, 2008 at 10:09 pm

Man, I’ve been seeing a lot of bread on blogs recently. Any homemade bread with a crust the color of yours has to be good. I wish I could just make crust because I always pull out the interior of bread but I hate wasting!

27 Andrea September 30, 2008 at 10:19 pm

TV SHOW!!!!!!!!!!! omg that is SOOOOO exciting, Kath + Matt!!!!!

28 emmy September 30, 2008 at 10:53 pm

someone mentioned Jon and Kate plus 8, oh my gosh! is any one else obsessed? I’m not sure which is my bigger guilty pleasure, that show or this blog!

29 Grounded Fitness September 30, 2008 at 10:57 pm

That is SO exciting about the possibility of a tv show. Must feel strange to you and the Husband though – at least you know you’d have a built-in audience!

Good luck on your exam tomorrow!

31 Amber September 30, 2008 at 11:45 pm

How exciting about the show, good luck that is awesome!

32 Halie September 30, 2008 at 11:49 pm

I hope the TV show happens!

I love the Other Boleyn Girl!! I read the book a year or two ago and I was so excited that they made it a movie! I’m glad you liked it, historical fiction is awesome! The story is already so juicy, then Phillipa Gregory added so much drama to the story (in a good way). I highly recommend the book, so much more to it than the movie.

33 Twinks October 1, 2008 at 1:16 am

the fire roasted veggie TLC crackers DEF need salt!

34 Kath October 1, 2008 at 7:11 am

36 zestycook October 1, 2008 at 8:41 am

CONGRATS KATH!!! That is excellent. Your sald looks delicious…. I am really happy for you guys. Great work!

37 M October 1, 2008 at 9:23 am

Love the idea of a TV show! Something on the Food Network would be awesome… I always said I wished they had a show that featured less meat-oriented recipes and discussed moving as a non-negotiable. You and Matt would be great!

38 runjess October 1, 2008 at 10:52 am

I really didn’t like that movie. Maybe because I read the book?

Does less sleep make you hungrier/snack more? I’m awfully tired today.

39 Kath October 1, 2008 at 11:14 am

runjess ,
Yes, I am always hungrier when I get less sleep.

40 Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) October 1, 2008 at 11:47 am

A TV show would be awesome! I would definitely watch!

41 Natalie October 1, 2008 at 3:29 pm

I enjoyed the movie too..but The Book was SO much better. The movie left out a lot of good drama. I guess it’s too much info for a 2 hour movie!

42 Jen October 1, 2008 at 8:56 pm

Hi Kath – that’s awesome news about the TV show! Congrats!
