Love for sweet potatoes, that is <3
I spent my morning out running errands. I felt cool. Most were boring, but I did end up with a Yankee Candle Christmas Tree air freshener for my car. Random. But also delicious.
I returned home at 1PM and put together this:
Featuring a pile of roasted sweet potato chips (because I know I’ll get at least one comment: sliced, seasoned with olive oil, salt and pepper and baked on a cooling rack on top of a sheet pan for 40 minutes, no flip necessary).
They were perfect. Topped with a glob of coconut butter, which didn’t melt as much as I’d hoped. Darn cold house.
In the middle – a Siggi’s Orange + Ginger (purchased via coupon) with some Ancient grains granola. LOVEEEEEE Siggi’s! I get them as treats with my own money (as they are too expensive to be a household staple) but I think they are definitely one of the best (THE best?) flavored yogurts on the market because they are not sweet!
A grapefruit that surprised me for being fabulous despite being in my fridge for 3+ weeks
And a taste of cheese and crackers with celery and carrots that Karen brought over Sunday
The cheese – a undoubtedly delicious smoked cheese – came out of this box, which was sent via the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program
This was Hickory Farms’ "Party Planner Gift Box," a nice collection for a last minute party. The content included cheeses (my cup of tea), meats (the husband’s), crackers, mustards (YUM!) and a cheese ball, that will be rolling out on Thanksgiving.
So nice of them to include fruit too ![]()
Which I had for dessert
Deeeelicious lunch!
Swingin’ Holidays are in full ….swing in our house!
I’m planning computer work followed by some kind of gym workout – the indoor playground!

I only buy Siggi’s as treats too … they are so expensive!
Yum! I love lunches like this that are a little bit of everything. I have to say though that I don’t actually love Siggi’s! I have yet to try Vanilla but the other flavors just don’t do it for me at all.
Ooooh my those sweet potatos look absolutely amazing!! I haven’t managed to find Siggis here in Canada but I’m going to pick some up next time I’m in the US (my food list is getting loooong!)
I am totally going to have to try that cooling rack trick!
Siggi’s is THE best because it’s not sweet. Love it!
This looks amazing!!
Such a pretty, colorful, well rounded lunch!
I was going to say how sweet the little strawberry candy was peaking out. Makes me think of my granny for some reason.
Off to hunt for the coconut butter. I made sugarfree gingerbread muffins that need alittle something… thinking this might be it!! Have good one!
That little strawberry candy made me think of my grandma too!
I LOVE the color of the inside of that grapefruit! so pretty!
I love having a “little of this and a little of that” for lunch!
That lunch looks AWESOME! I am so envious, because my lunch was NOT awesome. I am happy a have sweet potatoes so I can make sweet potato chips tonight!
PS – How was The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo? My mom just bought me the whole trilogy as a gift.
GOOD!! Not my kind of book, but I really enjoyed the suspense. I do intend to read the others in the series, but first I need a breather wtih something cheerful
I love this lunch! Festive, flavorful and filling!
I’m a Chobani girl myself.
But those strawberry candies are THE best. My stomach can’t handle much cheese and I don’t eat meat, but I loved it when someone would receive hickory farms gifts so I could sneak the candy.
Those random snack plates for lunches are the BEST! So delicious because you can get a mix of all the different little things you feel like.
mmm…grapefruit season!
I love your sweet potato chips.
Hmm, Siggi’s. I like it, but boy oh boy, is it ever expensive!!! I feel like it’s a splurge to get Fage sometimes.
wow, that is a lovely lunch! that grapefruit is so stunning, so vibrant! i agree about the siggi’s yogurts, they are definitely the Best flavored yogurts on the market!
such a festive, delicious holiday-esque lunch!!

Hey Kath,

You are a beautiful couple! Thanks for all your support.

p.s. love the “fruit”!
That is a very BRIGHT grapefruit!! I love peeling them like an orange and eating them in segments. So good! What am I saying, they’re good however they’re eaten!!
rosemary and sweet potatoes are a match made in heaven!
Hmm… I’ve got to try sweet potato chips! These looks delish! Muchos gracias
I’m jealous of your sweet potato chips. Ever since I started getting CSAs, I’ve been trying to only eat produce from my box so that I don’t accidentally let anything go to waste. There are going to be sweet potatoes in NEXT week’s box because it’s Thanksgiving week……however I only get the boxes bi-weekly and am getting a delivery instead. No sweet potatoes. Boo.
Cheese looks good. Hickory Farms always reminds me of the holidays, as it’s when I always used to see their booths set up in the mall. Also, our family used to get at least one shipment of Hickory Farms stuff from our relatives for Christmas. I’m more of a fan of the cheese, also.
I love those Strawberry candies — they are my favorite!
I love random lunch plates so fulfilling!
Lunch looks awesome. Sweet potaoes and smoked cheese, sounds like a pretty good taste combo!
I love how pretty your food is always presented! Makes it look so tasty!
Fun party box! I like yogurt that aren’t too sweet but have never tried that kind before. The range of foods all over your plate’s awesome. Hope you have a fun workout!
I am also having a love affair with Siggis…especially the Pomegranate Passion Fruit!
[And my roommate tells me I have a similar Hickory Farms box waiting for me at home...seeing yours makes me VERY excited!]
Mmm I love sweet potatoes on a cold fall day
and Chirstmas music! Hooray!
Enjoy the rest of your afternoon, Kath!
i’ve gotta get a cooling rack to roast my veggies – too lazy to FLIP
those strawberry candies remind me of my grandparents and christmas. they would always take me to the christmas parade in their neighborhood and santa would throw candy…those strawberry ones were my favorite that i’d always run to find! hahaha.
Love all the beautiful colors on that plate! And a little taste of everything… looks delicious! I’ll have to pick up Siggi’s the next time I’m at the market. I’ve never tried it.
gorgeous lunch – I love a bit of everything on a tasting plate. those little strawb candies remind me of my childhood – LOVED them.
It’s true, Siggis is great but so expensive. I get 1 or 2 at a time as special desserts.
I can’t even get my coconut butter out of the jar! I bought some but have never used it because it’s so cold in the cupboard the stuff is never spreadable. I don’t have hot running water to soften it with or a microwave. I wonder if I could pop the jar (without the lid) in the oven for a few minutes to warm it up…
I’ve put mine in the oven before at about 300*…just watch it!!
Yum! Those sweet potatoes look fantastic. I love them, but usually end up baking them whole. I never thought of slicing them into “chips.” Quick, easy, tasty, healthy…I’m sold.
BTW, I’ve made collard greens with maple syrup and soy sauce several times now, an idea I got from your blog. It’s the idea that got me to go from thinking about trying collard greens, to actually trying them, so thank you for that!
those little strawberry candies are my FAVORITE! They remind me of childhood christmases:)
My lunch looked a bit like yours as well – kind of a hodge podge of veggies, protein and carbs.
I wouldn’t have thought to put coconut butter on sweet potatoes. Clever idea : )
Happy Wednsesdeeee,
Dana : )
that cheese looks really tasty! I’m a sucker for cheese!
what a lovely lunch
Oooh sweet potatoes! I know what I’m having for dinner tonight!
I love those little strawberry candies!
I love siggi’s also but agree the price is super high.
What a fun looking lunch! I ADORE sweet potato’s made that way . I make them like that at least twice a week!
Oooooh Coconut butter and sweet potato! That sounds perfect!
I always try eat grapefruit because they look so yummy, but I just never enjoy the taste… maybe I just need to clear my stereotype of not liking them and try again
Hey Kath -
I just wanted to tell you that I saw on your blog the other day that you love the brussel sprout “crispies” – so do I!! I decided that I would make brussel sprout chips – kind of similar to kale chips – they were awesome!! Thanks for the idea.
Ooooooo….remind me to do this next week!
Those SP chips look great! What temp did you cook them on?
400*
oh what a fun and colorful lunch!
I love bits’n'bobs meals like that! So envious of the smoked cheese and Siggi’s… the first is beyond my budget, and the second doesn’t exist in Australia!
Excellent smorgasbord! I’m a huge fan of sweet potatoes, so I will definitely be trying out the chip method.
You lunches always look amazing! I’m jealous
I love lunches with a little bit of everything like that!
I always look forward to having lunches like that on weekends because sandwiches are way easier to take to campus during the week.
Nice trick, using the cooling rack! I will try that soon.
I love “tasting plate” lunches. Sometimes I’m just in the mood for everything and those work perfectly
Yours looked delicious (like always!)
This was a good job done and I love the variation you have incorporated into the menu…
I recently made sweet potato chips too – they are also awesome with cumin, cinnamon, and chili pepper too! Great idea with the coconut butter… will try brushing them with it instead of EVOO before baking next time.
Delicious looking lunch! Sweet potatoes make any meal twice as good
I LOVE sweet potatoes and plain Siggi’s. I just wish it was made with FULL fat instead of skim.
