I Got My Love To Keep Me Warm

Love for sweet potatoes, that is <3

I spent my morning out running errands. I felt cool. Most were boring, but I did end up with a Yankee Candle Christmas Tree air freshener for my car. Random. But also delicious.

I returned home at 1PM and put together this:

IMG_1480

Featuring a pile of roasted sweet potato chips (because I know I’ll get at least one comment: sliced, seasoned with olive oil, salt and pepper and baked on a cooling rack on top of a sheet pan for 40 minutes, no flip necessary).

IMG_1478IMG_1468IMG_1470

They were perfect. Topped with a glob of coconut butter, which didn’t melt as much as I’d hoped. Darn cold house.

IMG_1476

In the middle – a Siggi’s Orange + Ginger (purchased via coupon) with some Ancient grains granola. LOVEEEEEE Siggi’s! I get them as treats with my own money (as they are too expensive to be a household staple) but I think they are definitely one of the best (THE best?) flavored yogurts on the market because they are not sweet!

IMG_1473

A grapefruit that surprised me for being fabulous despite being in my fridge for 3+ weeks

IMG_1472

And a taste of cheese and crackers with celery and carrots that Karen brought over Sunday

IMG_1474

The cheese – a undoubtedly delicious smoked cheese – came out of this box, which was sent via the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program

IMG_1460

This was Hickory Farms’ "Party Planner Gift Box," a nice collection for a last minute party. The content included cheeses (my cup of tea), meats (the husband’s), crackers, mustards (YUM!) and a cheese ball, that will be rolling out on Thanksgiving.

Hickory-Farms   HickoryII

IMG_1485

So nice of them to include fruit too

Winking smile this !

IMG_1464

Which I had for dessert

IMG_1475

Deeeelicious lunch!

Swingin’ Holidays are in full ….swing in our house!

I’m planning computer work followed by some kind of gym workout – the indoor playground!

I was going to say how sweet the little strawberry candy was peaking out. Makes me think of my granny for some reason.

Off to hunt for the coconut butter. I made sugarfree gingerbread muffins that need alittle something… thinking this might be it!! Have good one!

I’m jealous of your sweet potato chips. Ever since I started getting CSAs, I’ve been trying to only eat produce from my box so that I don’t accidentally let anything go to waste. There are going to be sweet potatoes in NEXT week’s box because it’s Thanksgiving week……however I only get the boxes bi-weekly and am getting a delivery instead. No sweet potatoes. Boo. 🙁

Cheese looks good. Hickory Farms always reminds me of the holidays, as it’s when I always used to see their booths set up in the mall. Also, our family used to get at least one shipment of Hickory Farms stuff from our relatives for Christmas. I’m more of a fan of the cheese, also.

It’s true, Siggis is great but so expensive. I get 1 or 2 at a time as special desserts.

I can’t even get my coconut butter out of the jar! I bought some but have never used it because it’s so cold in the cupboard the stuff is never spreadable. I don’t have hot running water to soften it with or a microwave. I wonder if I could pop the jar (without the lid) in the oven for a few minutes to warm it up…

Yum! Those sweet potatoes look fantastic. I love them, but usually end up baking them whole. I never thought of slicing them into “chips.” Quick, easy, tasty, healthy…I’m sold.

BTW, I’ve made collard greens with maple syrup and soy sauce several times now, an idea I got from your blog. It’s the idea that got me to go from thinking about trying collard greens, to actually trying them, so thank you for that!
