We had a little snip, snip action from our friend Kris today!! She came over to cut Matt‘s hair and I couldn’t resist requesting an appointment as well. Don’t worry, we tip her well
Afterwards we went out for a photo shoot ’cause I know you guys would ask to see the results!
Stella got her layers back
Just a few…
Matt got me in action
His looked cute as well! Perfect. Cut.
Old farts
While we were outdoors we encountered some wildlife -
He’s staring us down!! The biggest praying mantis ever.
My day was made when the mail truck came and I got a card from my mom – along with a little spending money for some fall clothes! Too bad I have to share it with Matt
Thanks mom!
Dinner was quick + easy + involved only one pan.
A Trader Joe’s salmon patty baked and topped with Tribal Moose Cranberry BBQ Sauce and Fig Goat Cheese. Served over spinach + Flax Oat Bran.
Roasted brussels. 400* for about 20-25 minutes after being tossed in some olive oil, maple syrup, salt and pepper.
I added some more maple to mine! They were sooo good. I can’t believe i ate the whole pile!
I was missing a little sumptin’ after dinner and decided to make some Banana Ice Cream.
So heavenly. Remind me of that the next time I complain about cleaning the food processor, which I just threw into the dishwasher tonight. (We only run ours every few days so I hate using up all of the space with this dish!)
Topped with a little PB and cacao nibs. Deliciously filling.
A Limerick
So I asked Matt to draft some text for an invitation to send to our family members for Thanksgiving. I was super impressed with his creativity when he came up with this!!
A Limerick.
As long as Kath is living,
the responsibilities, she’ll be divvying.
The task falls to me
to write wittily
and invite you all to Thanksgiving.
Our menu is most ambitious:
Besides turkey (incredibly delicious),
It’s rich Fall flavors,
in food sweet and savor,
Cuisine that’s truly nutritious.
Corn pudding signifies Autumn,
And oysters, you’ll think we caught ‘em.
There’s fresh homebrewed beer
(it’s pumpkin this year!),
The desserts, I hope someone brought ‘em!
So please makes plans for vacation,
Our guest room’s taking reservations.
It wouldn’t be the same
unless the whole family came
to the ultimate seasonal celebration!
Wish we could invite you all!!!

I would love to stay and chat but it is dark and scary down here in the living room and I want to go upstairs where there are [hopefully] less chances for bug sightings!

Its actually more economical to use your dishwasher vs. hand washing!
Cuteness! Cute invitation, cute haircut, cute dessert!

That dinner sounds perfect
I love your Thanksgiving invite! You are so organized.. I’m inspired to start thinking about my own Thanksgiving plans and menu.

Very cute haircut!

i don’t know how you survive around all those bugs! i would have a heart attack!
ohh maple syrup on brussel sprouts! that sounds great. I’m starting to use a lot of sugar free maple syrup in recipes to substitute brown sugar, it works pretty well!
Oohh your hair looks great! Roasted brussel sprouts, yummy!
Nice supermodel pics!! :>

I love limericks! Matt’s got a knack for ‘em!
Have a great night!
Your Thanksgiving invite is so creative and thoughtful.
Love the Pantene ProV commercial! And that invite creativity – and the brussels!
Okay, I love the whole thing.

I love getting my hair cut – got mine cut today, too!
The brussels sprouts look great.
I love the ‘action shot’ photos, so funny. I totally do the same thing after I get my haircut.
Love the limerick! I wish I was that creative!
Super cute limerick! My husband and I are hosting Christmas this year. I’m excited to see and read about any and all healthy holiday recipes!
Your hair looks cute! Love those action shots!
I love roasted brussels; yours look nice and crispy, which is just how I like ‘em!
Cute haircut! For the first time this year, we aren’t hosting a holiday! I’m gonna miss not hosting
It’s so much fun!
Love the new do! And you’re hardly old farts! LOL!
Banana ice cream sounds delicious!
Matt is very talented! Nice your Mom wants to spread the wealth to him, too! So cute!

Love the poem! I use poems for all of my invitations! Here is my poem for our annual Oktoberfest Beer Tasting invitation
It is time for the season’s best,
Good food, good friends, Oktoberfest.
So find your costume and your beer,
You could win first prize this year!
The party is for dressing up,
And tasting beer in a mini cup,
Please don’t bring a well-known kind
Start looking for a special find!
If your beer cannot be beat,
You’ll get a trophy, that is really sweet!
The party will begin at 8 o’clock,
October 31, be ready to rock!
Too bad you guys can’t come! Matt might be able to win with his homemade beer!!
Ali
Love the new haircut! Matt is quite the poet…I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner!
Congrats on your Food Buzz noms! I just voted – did not know your hubby has a blog too! I found it while researching for the categories where I wasn’t as familiar with the bloggers. My husband is a home brewer as well – obsessed doesn’t even begin to describe his passion for beer. Very cool!
You and Matt are adorable.
Your photo shots swinging your hair remind me of the opening shots of Marlo Thomas in That Girl. (i’m aging myself!)
Love the limerick, too! As I mentioned before, you two would be great on television!
Love the new haircut Kath! It’s so convenient to have friends with such skills.
That dinner sounds fabulous. Simple, yet heavenly!
I’m totally impressed by Matt’s skills! Who knew he was such a fabulous poet?
Yummy brussel sprouts!
Both of you look great with your new hair!
you could be a breck girl, swingin your hair around like that. work it!
love thw swinging hair shots!
I’m seeing that banana ‘ice cream’ all over the blogs lately. So totally jealous!
Loving the Thanksgiving limerick! Super cute! The haircuts look super nice too!!
you’re so cute. you should do shampoo commercials, lol
Too cute. I looked for you under blogger you’d want to see with a Food Network Show!
Too darn cute – this post – and everything in it!!
That limerick is so cute and CREATIVE! I wish I could write something fun like that.
I love roasted brussels and don’t eat them often enough. They’re heavenly prepared that way, or steamed with a little lemon butter and sea salt – YUM!
Cute hair!
Here’s a limerick of my own: An Ode to Oatmeal (not as good as Matt’s!)
For a breakfast that’s better than bread
Try oatmeal and milk instead
It’s so yummy and quick
You’d think it’s a trick
I’ll keep eating my oats til I’m dead!
Ok – that took me WAY too long to come up with. Holy crap. And it’s not HALF as good as Matt’s!
Good thing I don’t make money writing poetry. =P
I’m made brussel sprouts tonight and have a bunch that I didn’t cook leftover, so I’m gonna try your recipe. It sounds yummy, and simple – just the way I like to cook! Your hair is cute – you two make a pretty couple.
I just have to say again, I think your blog is SO freakin’ inspiring! I REALLY REALLY enjoy looking at your food pics and seeing your recipes and ideas for them and hearing about the foods you like!
That salmon looks great!
I have not eaten salmon in like a year; can’t get it where I live, so I am definitely craving it!
Oh man, I wish my mom sent me money. I’m majorly jello.
yeah fling that hair around! work it work it
Best. Invite. Ever.
I can’t believe your hair stylist makes house calls! Nice!!
Those action hair pictures are so nerdy.
What a witty guy! Let Matt know how much everyone seems to love his poem.
Your brussel sprouts look delicious. I definitely need to give the roasting a try.
By the way, I have also heard that if you have an energy efficient washer it is better for the environment than hand washing.
Love roasted brussel sprouts. Never tried them with maple syrup though!
Love the limerick. I can’t believe we are already thinking about Thanksgiving. This year has gone by so quickly!
OMG you two are SOOO cute!!
Yum! I want those brussels sprouts! (Did I just type that? Sigh. I am a true veggie lover…)
Your hair looks nice! I love getting hair cuts at home, my sis in law is a hair dresser, I love my “Salon Kitchen” cuts.
That was so sweet of your mom to send you some money for new fall clothes:)
I got to get some Salmon patties I have seen them everywhere.
Ok Kath, are you changing your photo up at the top all the time or do you have it set to automatically rotate? It’s freaking me out a little
Oh and can it be Thanksgiving NOW? Thanks.
Cute haircut!
Mmmmmmm brussel sprouts…
I am such a big fan of layers. Love the new ‘do’s!
Matt you are so talented! Great job.
Love the limerick! And YOU wish you could invite US? I promise you, WE all wish we could invite ourselves! I bet Thanksgiving at Kath’s is a super-duper treat! Love the maple coated brussels sprouts! Great idea and can’t wait to try it next time we make brussels. Thanks for the tip!
OMG….that Banana Ice Cream sounds fab! I’m definitely making it – I love my food processor, and I rarely use it.

The Healthy Hostess,
That rocked! Wish I could join you too
April,
He does indeed! But he needs to update it!
Allison,
Love it!!!!
Cynthia,
Thanks
Tamara,
She doesn’t work as a stylist – so she’s not really making a house call. She’s a friend of Matt’s from Great Harvest. But she has a cosmetology license so she’s got the skills.
Hallie,
I change it once a month or so. Sorry it’s freaking you out!?
Kath
Nice work with that poem! Your boy rocks.
It’s crazy how doing a different workout can make you so sore even if you’re already in good shape isn’t it?
How do you like those salmon burgers? I always see them in the case at TJs, but haven’t tried them yet… if you think they’re good though, I will!
That’s so cute your mom gives you money for clothes!! I wish mine would do that still :O)
I love the new haircut and the model pics–too cute!
I love the poem-so cute! Your haircut looks great!
Cute haircut! And wow, I’m impressed with Matt’s riddle-writing skillz.
p.s. Your mom rules!
Amanda,
They aren’t salmon burgers – they’re salmon patties. Just salmon, salt and water in the ingredients. I like them a lot!! They are 80 calories each and cook in 15 minutes in the oven.
Kath
Maple syrup! That’s what I’ve been doing wrong all of these years. I’m so trying this next time. Cute haircut.
Matt is just so creative! I wish my mom read your blog so she could get some inspiration from your mother!
I love your haircut! Cute!
Fun hair pics!! You need a shampoo commercial!
