No, it wasn’t one of Cville’s gallery crawl nights. But we sure do have a lot of artwork hung!
Ode to the grandmothers/mother’s wedding days
Travel art in the guest room – these three prints are from my summer studying abroad at Cambridge that my mom recently had framed
And these three are a tribute to my grandfather’s time in WWII. The bottom right is a letter postmarked from Japan to my grandmother during their courtship
I also found the perfect spot for my collection of blue glass!
On a windowsill, in the guest room.
Gram’s artwork dons the laundry room, bright and cheerful
And above my desk – a vintage box filled with office supplies and some more blue glass holding pens/sharpies
Poking out is one of my favorite little notepads that Lisa’s Fine made for OpenSky
And this self-inking stamp I just had custom made with our new address from Etsy!
Makes paying the bills so much fun!!
This afternoon we also received a massive IKEA delivery!! To be sorted next week!
Matt was supposed to bring home some pizza dough for dinner from the bakery, but it slipped his mind this morning so <s>sarcasm begins<s> we had to go out to dinner! </s>sarcasm ends</s>
We literally have ZERO food in our fridge other than a corn on the cob and more cabbage (no more cabbage for me!) because we’re going out of town tomorrow, so we decided to walk to dinner at Beer Run!
We ran into two sets of friends from the bakery there. It’s hard not to run into friends at Beer Run – so we joined them.
PUMKING for me!
I had the roasted vegetable platter with mozzarella and brown rice for dinner.
Matt ordered an amazingly spicy [local] pork and beans dish. I shared my vegetables; he shared his protein.
Piece of dark chocolate called it a night.
We’re headed to Tennessee tomorrow for a wedding – Matt’s cousin Elizabeth is tying the knot! We’re heading out a 5:30am tomorrow and coming home Sunday night. 14 hours in the car in 2 days! It will be worth it though. Blogging schedule is unknown since we’re staying at Gran Bett’s house, but I’ll probably pop in more often than not from my phone : )
Gotta pack!

And I bought a bottle of Pumpking the other day, and plan to try it out this week. I’m hoping to do a whole pumpkin beer tasting this autumn. Any other recommendations?
Schlafly, Weyerbacher, Williamsburg, Cottonwood
Kath, your decorating rocks! I love it all. It looks great, like it belongs everywhere you arranged things.
Oh darn, have to eat really yummy food out. Shucks.
Have a great trip to Tenn!
thanks!!
Love the necklace! Have so much fun in Tennessee! I love Tennessee, my boyfriend and I boat on a lake in Tennessee.
Loving all the art work! One thing we have yet to do is really get everything we want hung up. (Let’s overlook the fact that we moved in more then a year ago).
I LOVE your house! You have the perfect eclectic, homey style without being too far out there. And I love all the personal touches. And your necklace! Haha I just really love this post.
you’re a hangin’ fool! have fun on the road trip – i highly recommend tina fey’s “bossy pants” on audio!

The house decorations look great! Sounds like you had the perfect excuse to go out! Dinner looks delicious! Have a safe trip and a great time!
I really like your hair short like that, looks great! Also really like that roasted veg platter, what a simple great dinner idea to try to recreate at home!
Your hair and case look so cook. Again, LOVE your style. Way to go on decorating.
Safe travels!
Have fun at the wedding! And your turquoise necklace and haircut and that black tshirt all look great on you in the last pic

I love the way you decorate your home; will you come fix mine for me? That guest room is absolutely gorgeous!
And I love that stamp! May have to think about getting myself one of those…
That’s a whole lotta you on those walls! Does Matt get to hang anything up?
I love all the artwork and decorating – and I really like the self-inking stamp! I think it’s the little things that really make a house a home.
I can’t believe how much you have on the walls already, it looks great! Have a great time at the wedding.
1. Wow, the art all looks wonderful. So meaningful and full of character (characterful?)!
2. I could really go for those roasted veggies right now… mmmmmm….
3. Weddings are fun!! Safe travels and enjoy
Hi Kath! I’m sorry if you’ve already answered this question somewhere else, but I’m really curious…do you know why so many restaurants in Charlottesville have local meat options? I know that you and Matt both look for local meat sources on the menu, but even taking that into consideration I’ve been pretty amazed at the number of restaurants you’re able to get local meat at!!! Thanks!
I believe it was named recently by Forbes “the locavore capital of the WORLD!” It’s one of the biggest reasons we moved here. Having beautiful farmland all around helps too!
I saw Matt acting super sweet with one of the bakers this morning. For real. He was showing one of the guys how to make the top of the loaves & it looked like they were holding hands. I was dying laughing. It was nice to have entertainment while waiting for my breakfast stuff to be boxed up.
Awww. He’s teaching Alex to bake this week.
I love your family heirlooms! Everything is so beautiful!
Have fun at the wedding
!
Wow, I love your decorating style. So crisp and clean with such history in many of the pieces. I think you need to help me decorate.

I love how you’ve used pieces from your family to decorate your house – it looks beautiful!
I’m kind of in love with that stamp. Now my BF and I just need to get married so I can get our initials on one ; )
I love the color of your room. Do you remember the name of the paint color?? Im transitioning from green to something more muted.
It’s Benjamin Moore Excalibur Gray
What’s wrong with cabbage?
It gave me a 2-day stomach ache!
Love your framed photos of the River Cam! When did you study abroad? I studied there in the fall of 2006! Such a charming city, and I loved walking to the market and running along the backs.
It’s my goal to make it back there someday! Safe travels to TN!
Summer 2004!
I love Maryville!
The house is too cute!! I’m loving all the glass containers!
I love the necklace, so pretty!
Pumkin on tap??? Why would you ever go farther than 5 miles from such a place?
Pumking**
loving all the artwork you’re hanging (the postcard is so very cool) and cute little jars you have with supplies in them. the handmade notebook is super cute–custom stamp is adorbs
Pumking is awesome, I got some from the store earlier this week…It’s cool that Southerntier is distributed that far south!
I also have a love letter framed that my grandfather wrote to my granny when he was in the war! My mom discovered a bundle of the letters in the trash- Granny has Alzheimer’s at the time and cleaned house. I am forever grateful that my mother found the letters.
*had Alzheimers.
Bad grammar on my part.
Loved the used of the sarcasm font.
There seriously needs to be a real one!
Every time I see those green & white chairs I swoon a little. Love them!
The summer at Cambridge – was that with the International Summer School programme there, and if so, what was it like?
I’ve been wanting to do that for years.
No it was through Davidson
Kath, you seem to be sporting an edgier hair-do these days. i like it!
I love that stamp – just bought one for myself! Thank you for your home organization/decoration posts. They are very inspirational! Now I’m off to organize the office.
Love the art deco! I also love how you framed the letter your grandfather wrote to your grandmother during WWII–I love memorabilia!
