Evenings Supper Club II

July 22, 2014

After my first dinner with Evenings Supper Club I knew I had to take Matt back on a date night. These kind of events are right up our alley….er, garage!

Karen came over to play with Mazen and sent us out on the town. (Sidenote: Karen went to one of the dinners by herself and had a glorious time!)

Dress: Stitch Fix.

Necklace: Girls Day Out.

Fitbit: Theodora!

We arrived to find Chef Bryan sharing the concept of Evenings surrounded by cocktails and canapés.

The signature cocktail must have been a lemonadey gin drink because it went down so easily after the hot walk there! Thirst. Quenched.

The canapés were mozzarella, tomato, basil skewers and apple, manchego and pecan bites. Loved those!

After introductions and conversation, we settled down to our table for the evening.

As always, Evenings is BOYB, and we brought a bottle to share from Virginia’s San Soucy Vineyards from this trip! {<— ahhhh Mazen was so little!}

The table was dressed in colorful glass bottles and candlelight. Love!

We began our meal with a Spring Pea Soup, Ham Hock, Carrot Panna Cotta and Parmesan Crisp

The soup was deconstructed and Chef Bryan poured it hot onto our arranged plates. Loved this tableside concept!

You wouldn’t believe it, but chef was working with such a limited kitchen in the back – a far cry from a modern industrial kitchen!

Our main course was Maple Cured Chicken Breast and Fried Chicken Thighs with Braised Cabbage in a Buttermilk Mayo. I loved the fried chicken piece – so much flavor! I also love that Chef Bryan always does two styles of one main course (last time it was pork).

The dessert course was, of course, my favorite. A deconstructed cheesecake! Blueberry Cheesecake, Lemon Whipped Cream, Crispy Filo & Dulce de Leche. Chef Bryan cooked the cheesecake sous vide and then piped it onto our plates. I loved the presentation!

Our surprise final course included some of the favorites from my last dinner:

Vanilla macaroons with Nutella
Chocolate truffles in cocoa
Honey black pepper jellies

And Peach Moonshine!

These dinners are so special and intimate. And as always the food is exceptional. We had such a great time, I am excited for when the dinners resume in the fall!

Food/drink looks amazing. And so does that dress!! I’m telling you, Stitch Fix is calling my name with all the cute outfits I’ve seen from them lately!

Is this garage owned by someone it looks like its sitting all by its self.? What does a dinner like this cost, just curious.

3 KathEats July 22, 2014 at 9:36 am

Actually the church owns it. And it’s $65 a person

That dress looks amazing on you!

The presentation on that pea soup is blowing my mind. Doesn’t it look like something that belongs in a cooking magazine or something? HOW FUN If they had something like that around here I would definitely be going!!

Ok that black dress is AMAZING on you! I want it for myself! I absolutely love it! These dinners also seem like such a fun time and I love that the atmosphere always seems very unique, and the food looks incredible!

One of our local (Milwaukee, WI) RSA style restaurants called ‘Braise’ has just started something very similar to this! It’s a limited space on a long table set under the stars. The price is about the same. I wanted to go, but I will be out of town for it. :( Hopefully when the next one comes around, I’ll be able to reserve a spot for my hubs and me. This looks like something we’d both really be into. Thanks for sharing the evening with us!

This is the coolest concept ever!! I’m so jealous!

Okay, this is going to be a weird comment, but what undershirt is Matt wearing? I struggle with finding the right undershirt for my husband to wear when he’s wearing an unbuttoned shirt. The v-neck is either too deep or he needs something other than white. Help?

19 KathEats July 22, 2014 at 3:14 pm

Haha it’s likely Banana Republic … his favorite store

20 Robyn July 22, 2014 at 3:16 pm

Ooo, I love Banana Republic for button down shirts and slacks for my husband. Don’t know why I didn’t think about their undershirts. Will have to check them out. Thanks!

21 Kelley July 22, 2014 at 6:31 pm

Love the outfit! Such a fun night!

22 Lauren @ Focused To Be Fit July 22, 2014 at 7:46 pm

Love that dress…I need to get hip to the Fix! I love these supper club posts – looks like such a fun and special evening!

23 Sandra July 22, 2014 at 7:56 pm

Looks like a lovely evening

24 Kelly July 22, 2014 at 9:37 pm

Alright, so I’m checkin out this stitch fix deal. So…you get 5 items and you only pay for them if you keep them? And other than the $20 stylist fee, there’s no other out of pocket fees or charges? I was thinking an every other month mailing would work for me, how often do you get your box? Thanks!

25 KathEats July 23, 2014 at 8:34 am

You are correct! And the $20 fee goes toward your purchases so if you buy anything you can consider it waived

26 Barb Dutton July 23, 2014 at 6:59 am

How do you like your Fitbit? I recently got a Jawbone Up and am loving it. I tried on a Fitbit, but I have such small wrists it was huge on me.

27 KathEats July 23, 2014 at 8:35 am

Post on the way!

28 laura July 23, 2014 at 7:30 am

Wow! I love these ideas of casual, yet formal dinners. The menu always sounds so intriguing, too… not stuff you’d normally see. Love that you’re able to attend! Question–are you sponsored for this, and get to attend for free in return for a write-up or do you pay and just write about it because it’s something you enjoy? Just curious! Seems as of late (no judging–know this is your “job!!”) there are a LOT of sponsored posts….
thanks for your honesty!

29 KathEats July 23, 2014 at 8:33 am

No we paid for it ourselves. If I get anything for free in exchange for blogging I always dis close that.

30 Ellen July 24, 2014 at 7:55 am

Love that the soup was poured! And the glass bottles are a great idea for a simple center piece.

31 Valerie July 27, 2014 at 9:40 pm

Love that Stitchfix dress on you!

Have you tried Vain Pursuits? They’re like stitchfix but for skincare products

32 KathEats July 28, 2014 at 6:14 am

No but I’ll look them up!
