[Said in the voice of Mr. Burns!]
It was so nice to sleep in! Although I was up at 5:40am because the house was vibrating. I was SURE it was another earthquake in Virginia, so I was scared for our own house, but then I heard my mom moving around so it must have been her pounding the 1833 floors.
We all just finished breakfast – Great Harvest toast (with sunflower butter I gave to mom a while ago that magically is still around!!!), fruit salad and sunny side up eggs!
Plus a steaming cup of dad’s coffee
Lillis Billis had Fancy Feast and special meow milk. She is 17 and when you pick her up she feels light as a bird!
Off on a family hike!!

What a yummy breakfast! Have a great time on your family hike!
This post totally helped mr make NY mind up for dinner. I was debating between eggs and seafood but eggs it is!
Looks like a perfect sunny side up egg!! I wish we could go on a hike today… the weather has been gloomy, cold, and rainy. Come back sun! Enjoy your hike!
She still looks scary! Although, if I were that old in cat years, I’d probably be sassy too
I love that picture with the steaming coffee and newspaper in the background. It has such a nice calming sense to it and reminds me of Sunday mornings growing up so much.
Oh Mr. Burns! haha.
Perfect sunday activity!
Loving the looks of that sunny side up egg.. and the fruit salad! Dorm room food just isn’t cutting it in the fresh food department lately! Have fun on your family hike
That looks so good! The only time I can find eggs in Italy is at dinner with truffles… which isn’t bad except that mean breakfast is cured meat or pastries.
Perfect breakfast! YUM! Love that table! I want an old rustic kitchen table. Have fun on the hike!
Lillian the Wonder Cat is walking on clouds after so many lovely comments. She keeps singing, “I’m a cool, gorgeously angry, bad ass cat!” She says when she finishes walking on clouds, she’s going to walk like an earthquake since she rules the house.
Eggs for breakfast.. YOU?!? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you eat them for breakfast (Just over salads and for dinner). I sure do miss my over easy eggs & runny yolks, slopped up with a crispy piece of toast… yum!
I only like them at other people’s houses!! And they never fill me up like bowls of wet things, but they are still tasty!
yum! love that y’all travel with GH. come visit me, pleeeease!
I love love love having eggs for breakfast! Especially on chilly fall mornings!
Enjoy your family hike! What a perfect Sunday activity!
Hmmmm can’t beat eggs! Have a great hike
I love to beat/scramble eggs!
Perfect eggs! And I will say it again – the cat is soooo cool. I hope my dog looks half as fierce when he’s that old.
Special meow milk?? What is that and does it help with weight loss? My Frankie is only 4 but he’s an inside cat and he has settled in at 11 lbs. I don’t want him to get any heavier
It’s just regular milk that mom pours for her in a special bowl : )
Ha! Thanks
I was about to spend more cash on my only child. My next trick is to get him to stay on the treadmill with me
Lillian is the cutest cat with that perpetual scowl on her face. I thought she was just a young thing, not 17! Oh my! I just cannot get enough of her….
Same here! I think kitty is the sweetest thing. She has the best kitty face haha.
I would’ve been scared for an earthquake too!! Fruit salad is perfect for breakfast:)
That breakfast looks SO yummy! Have fun on your family hike! Hiking is one of my favorite things to do!
Whoa, 17 years old? She’s looking good.
Hope you’re having a good time at home!
omggggggg i miss runny eggs! if you come to west village, i’d love to pop out & say hi! ha you could have gone on a run w/ me this AM but i am way too slow for you now!
Sorry to miss you! We’re always there and back again so quickly. Next time!!
Lillis Billis is adorable, bot of my mom’s cats are 17 too and very skinny even though they eat all day! Have fun on the hike!
The fruit salad looks so good! I always wonder why bananas are never included in the traditional version!
What? You gave your mom a jar of SSB and she didn’t devour it within a week?! She must have some willpower!
What a yummy looking breakfast. And what an adorable looking kitty.
Glad it wasn’t an earthquake and just your mom giving you a scare! I seriously want to pet that cat!
I’m in love with your cat. I don’t like cats, but that one looks special and I love it
Enjoy your day!
So..I have a fear of cats and this cat is at the top of that list!
I love this cat. I make my husband come and look at him every time you photograph him. Gorgeously angry!
If I was your mom and you publicly compared my walking around to an earthquake I would be so offended and upset. Maybe you need to have some more consideration for people’s feeling. Talking about people weighing more in your last post was pretty awful too.
I daresay in posting this comment, you anticipated the tidal waves of hostility that are going to be coming your way for daring to criticize what was written.
Well, I guess I am too.
I agree. I thought the comment about mistaking your mom’s footsteps for an earthquake was in poor taste. I know you probably didn’t mean it to be anything but an amusing anecdote, but it didn’t come across as such.
Seriously? I think you guys need to lighten up a little and stop picking apart every little comment in posts. I doubt Kath meant it in a rude way and I doubt her mom cares. If so, then she’s easily offended. Our old floors creak heavily in my house whether it’s a child or man walking around.
Sure, floors creak in most houses. I’ve just never equated someone walking on those squeaky floors with an earthquake. And if it’s so obvious that the floors do creak, then why was an earthquake the first thing that came to mind?
I don’t see my comment as picking apart anything – I was giving my opinion. Not every comment has to be a validation of how awesome something looks. I read this blog frequently and most times, my feedback is positive. That doesn’t mean I’m not entitled, as a reader, to make a constructive comment RESPECTFULLY. It has little to do with lightening up – everything to do with being aware of other people.
I never said you had to make a comment saying how awesome everything looked. I simply said to stop reading into things so much and get so easily offended. Kath’s mom is a big girl and can defend herself if she doesn’t like it.
I understand what you’re saying, but Kath’s mom has been on the blog a lot, and she is obviously a slender woman. I thought Kath was moreso making a comment about the house being built in 1833. I think anyone would make the floors creak!
I got the same thing from this post!
What a beautiful mug! Your kitty is so cute.
I can’t wait to try sunflower butter! Looks wonderful! beautiful breakfast! Going to make some eggs right now!! (:
I love the last pic of Lillis Billis. Makes me smile
Lillis Billis doesn’t look a day over 5!
I LOVE eggs for breakfast! Seriously, sunflower butter does NOT last around here either
Sundays are made for family hiking, I need to get my ass in gear and start persuading all the lazy bones to come with me!
oh a family hike! all your posts make me want to move out of the city immediately. I’m just not suited for Chicago… I need the country and the outdoors!
Whoah, that cat is giving some serious evil eyes to the camera! Or maybe it’s just her model face
sweet kitty…17 years is a long time!
Lillian is soooooo adorable, I love seeing her. I hate that people say she is scary, geez, she is just a little kitty. It would be a sad world if only “show cats” got a home. I have a kitty with a crooked tail and pigeon-toed feet, but she is one of the most precious things to me.
Sunflower Butter would not last long in our house

WOW, 17? Thats awesome and she so cool looking.
I LOVE that kitty! <3
