Fun times at the Second Annual Top of the Hops!!
We had a great time tasting beers, playing with Larbs + Matt and our friends Seamane + Rob, Sara + Juan and Jenn – plus SO MANY BLOG READERS!! Thanks to much to all of you who said hello today!!
Seamane wins the award for best dressed
We had tons of fun! Twin Matts!!
Good beer –
Great Harvest cookie snacks
And cute Finn participating in his stroller ; ) [Not really]
After the festie, we tried to go to Zocalo, but it was CLOSED for a private party!! So devastating because L + M had their heart set on the stuffed pepper.
We ended up walking farther to have a fabulous dinner at Orzo.
Hummus + pita
Ricotta + honey
Vino – split 4 ways
Pasta x 4 – amazingly delicious!
Dessert was a 2 mile walk home.
And now we’re pooped and thirsty!!
See you tomorrow – moving day part I!!

Delicious food and great folks, that’s all a gal can ask for! Looks like a blast
fun fun fun! i love meeting “blog fans!”
It really is eerie how similar the two Matt’s look! Whatever that baked pasta is at the end, I want it!
Yum, ricotta and honey is such a good combination! Looks like a fun day- I’m not much of a drinker, but I always get a hankering for pumpkin beer this time of year
HAHA! Best dessert ever
This seriously just looks like such an incredible event. I want to do it one year!!
I love beer! I need to go to a beer fest one of these days. I can never make my mind up at restaurants because I want a taste of everything! Although when pumpkin beer hits restaurant menus it’s never a hard decision.
Looks like so much fun, great Saturday with friends & beer! Good luck with the move.
Looks like a great time tasting beer. I love these festivals, the tasting is the best!
I so want that beer shirt!
What an awesome event, absolutely love the group pic, so hillarious!! Dinner looked great as well. best of luck with moving day part 1 tomorrow; so excited to see how the place looks!!!
What a perfect way to have fun and let loose before your move tomorrow!
Dinner at Orzo looks absolutely delicious… when one door closes, another opens.. looks like that dinner was meant to be!?
Good LUCK to you and Matt tomorrow! I am wishing you a smooth move and cannot wait to see the re-cap!
Looks like you all had fun! Wheeeee for great friends and the WEEKEnd
Seamane = love that name
What a great day you guys had! I am impressed that you had such a full (and fun) day..in the midst of moving. I’m jealous b/c all my pre-moving weekends are spent with ponytail hair, dirty shirts, and blisters on my hands from taping up and carrying way too many boxes!
I’m happy for you
Good luck with the move!! A beer tasting sounds like the perfect way to spend the night before moving!
Looks like fun! How do you pronounce your friend’s name Seamane? I am saying Sha-man-ee in my head but I have no idea if that’s right.
It’s sha-mane!
Love those cute little beer mugs. The group pic at the end is hilarious, lol.
Everyone’s dinner choice looks primo!
I love that shirt!
As much as you and Larbs look alike, so do the Matts!
I love your earrings! And your eyes. They preeeetty.
A little glossed over if you ask me
Alcohol: the new beauty trick
Hah! I love this.
Oh, man! Your day looks like so much fun! I’ve had 2 glasses of my hubby’s (Matt’s!) IPA. But, I love a good beer fest!
I never noticed before but the 2 Matt’s look alike.
I like festivals that allows outside food (so I can bring my own cookies too). it’s not allowed much here, unfortunately. That’s why I love going to Hollywood Bowl because you can have a picnic there with your own food and wine.
Yay moving day! Soon you’ll be settled in your new place
Dinner looked lovely, and the beer looked delicious! I wish those little tasting mugs were the standard size (or at least available all the time!). Sometimes you just want to try a little, you know?
omg it’s not just the matt’s that look alike, the entire other couple is y’all’s look alike!! the girl in the red also looks like you in my opinion!! well at least just the eyes…
Do you mean my sister!?
What is your favorite pumpkin beer? Do you like blue moon’s?
thanks,
Linda
Blue Moon’s is gross!!
Favorite = Schlafly.
Also love Cottonwood, Weyerbacher, Williamsburg, Pumking
I just tried the Pumpkin beer that Shock Top makes – have you had that? I wasn’t that impressed! I saw Schlafly, but it wasn’t Pumpkin! Shock Top was the only option last night!
I don’t think any of the mainstream labels’ pumpkin ales are good..
I’m having someone get me some Schlafly Pumpkin while they are in Illinois for work this week! I can’t find it here in NC. I’m excited!
~
Haha mmmm walks! One of my favorite desserts.
& I love the beer shirt (even though I’m no beer drinker myself)
Looks like a great time! That’s cool that you saw so many blog readers too.
Looks like a really fun evening! I love the beer t-shirt
Good luck with the rest of your moving!
What a fun night! I really like your earrings. Good luck with the move.
1. Larbs’s dress is adorable.
2. Whatever that pasta with the cheese on top is (in the crock), it looks delicious!
3. I kind of want that beer shirt, but I’d replace “beer” with “wine.” ; )
4. Good luck moving today!!
what a great way to break up the moving weekend! That festival looks like tons of fun!
Great pics!! Glad you had fun
The pasta in the bowl with the handle looks amazing!
All play then work
… And then play some more!

That IS the best shirt ever! And pumpking is sooo good. We decided here that schlafly tastes like pumpkin pie, Pumpking is like pumpkin pie with whipped cream!
Good luck with the move! Stay hydrated!
That event looks like so much fun! I went to a beer fest not too long ago but it was the day before Irene so it was pouring. Amazing what people will do for beer. For me? I will do pretty much anything. Including getting soaked.
Ahh – Seamane’s shirt is awesome – any idea where she got it?
Hahaha! That shirt made me literally “lol.” Trying to find it on Google with no success! Crap! Guess I’ll have to get crafty and make my own…
Hey Brandy! Here’s a link to it online: http://compare.ebay.com/like/300297037020?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y
It looks like Amazon has a version as well (in a sweatshirt). Have fun!
Oh, yay thanks! just in time for Oktoberfest
I’m glad you guys are moving today–it’s a a nice fresh start, symbolic and otherwise.
Best of luck with the move!
That first tap in the post is from my college town!! Did you have any of the Tallgrass beers? It sounds like a wonderful time!
Yeah!! The Buffalo Sweat was great!
What a fantastic evening!!
You know when I was a kid living in Germany I drank Kinderbeer all the time. I think it’s one of the reasons I love beer so much!
This all really makes me wish I liked beer
Looks you had so much fun! Good luck with the move!
The food looks great, as always. Question: in between the two pics of the pasta/shrimp dish..what is in that bowl with a handle? It looks so good and comforting! Thanks!
I don’t even remember! It was Matt’s. Some kind of pasta bake. It was really good!
You’ve done it. All of your talk about pumpkin beer got me to try it for the first time this weekend and LOVED it. I may be addicted. It was the Dogfish Head Punkin. Deelish! Thanks for getting me on this bandwagon… I feel like it’s officially fall now.
Wheee!! They get even better than that too!
I had the Dogfish Head Punkin this weekend too when I saw it at our fave bar – the first time I’ve seen a pumpkin beer on tap, and I’ve been waiting for that to try it instead of going in for a bigger purchase at a store. It was good, and Pumpking is next on my list (haven’t seen Schafly anywhere here in Ohio)!
