By some miracle (perhaps all that cake before bedtime so there was no room for middle-of-the-night hunger!), I slept a glorious 9 hours. Much needed after a week of tossing, turning and sleep walking.
I just made it to the Inn’s breakfast –
I enjoyed a lovely bowl of Raisin Bran topped off with a little granola and lots of fresh berries.
Plus a coffee (splash caf, mostly decaf) and some OJ, for the nutrients ![]()
We all have things to work on this weekend – Larbs has report writing, mom has book writing and I have blog writing : ) Dad, as always, has loads of reading. I’m hoping to get started on Ahab’s Wife too! With all due respect to Meredith and the Pimpernel, I’m switching to a more beachy read for now.
It feels pretty warm out there, so we’re headed out on a power walk as soon as this post goes up!

I’ll have to try cake as my midnight snack tonight
. Do you have a TV there? Duke plays tonight at 7:15!
We are going to try to watch in the bar during dinner!
Love simple breakfasts like those- have fun with your family!
oh gosh, I wish I could sleep like that! I’m sure it was much needed for you though! And I love raisin bran, I used to use up my dad’s all the time when I went home to visit!
My mom showed me and my sister the Scarlet Pimpernel movie when we were little and it instantly became a favorite! I haven’t watched it as an adult yet (now on my to-do list) but I remember it being absolutely hilarious!

Maybe I should just watch that
So glad you finally got some good sleep! I was the opposite last night. We switched!
looks like a lovely breakfast!
Looks like the perfect start to the weekend! I miss family vacations… my sisters and I are so spread out it’s hard to get together anymore.
I wish it was nice out here, I would love to go for a nice walk outside today.
That bird house is so cute! It’s gorgeous here as well and I wish I wasn’t sitting inside, but I know I’ll be out as much as possible this weekend! Have a lovely walk!
So glad you were able to catch some good Zzz’s! What a cool birdhouse!
Have a wonderful walk and soak up the day!
Enjoy your walk. Amazing breakfast
What a beautiful little bird house. Have a great walk.
I was just home with my family for a few days – already miss it! Enjoy your time with them!
That breakfast looks AMAZING. Such a perfect “inn” setting! Enjoy your day!
Nothing like a great night’s sleep!
9 hours of sleep sounds GLORIOUS!
so glad you had a lovely night’s sleep! enjoy the sunshine and this beautiful friday!
I’ve never been to BHI, but these pictures are making me want to check it out!
I so love your posts from Bald Head. I can just imagine that I am actually enjoying the scenery instead of only photos.
What’s your “more beachy read”? Always interested to hear what other people are reading.
Ahab’s Wife – linked to it in the post
Oops, sorry!
Wow, a bowl of raisin bran has never looked so appealing!
My husband knows it, so he won’t be offended if I say that I always get the best sleep when I don’t sleep with him. Now, this only h appens if we go on trips without one another or if someone is out of town and the other is at home – buuut I get elbowed in the face far too often.
Looks like you all are having fun, relaxing but staying productive!
I love how they put a lot of fruits on top, some places just sprinkle a little bit on the top and call it fruits granola, it’s disappointing!
Sometimes sleeping in a different bed is just the trick for getting some proper sleep after a few nights of bad sleep in the usual one! Vacation relaxation never hurts either
.
Gorgeous pineapple and woo-hoo for NINE hours of sleep! Fabulous!
I’m so jealous of you right now, it’s not even funny.
Yay for sleep!!!
If the buttercream dream really is the key to a long night’s sleep, I think you’d have a lot of people happily giving up their Ambien
I am sure you feel refreshed after a good night’s sleep.
That is a pretty birdhouse!

Love your blog! Been silently stalking for about a year now…. Just have to say: don’t give up on the Scarlet Pimpernel! It’s a slow start but it’s completely worth it!
Thanks for your comment! I def. want to try it again – if it’s anyones favorite book it’s bound to get good!
Tasty looking breakfast. I love the photo of the Martin house!
