Beautiful, beautiful wedding!! Caroline and Kris were married in an outdoor chapel under the trees surrounded by music, hydrangeas, owls, pussycats, many friends and their families. The reception was held a short walk away at my aunt and uncle’s house where we enjoyed a gauntlet of appetizers, a delicious buffet by Dogwood Baltimore, a Manhattan toast and a selection of homemade desserts that my aunt and cousin Mary Jane made. The night ended under the stars with a family musical performance. We had a wonderful time!!
Check out those fabulous Aussie hats!!
Vow renewal : )
A song performed by my talented cousin Chris
Love down under -
Welcome drinks!
Finger foods as we entered the backyard -
Kegs – a wonderful selection!
And Manhattans for a crowd – a family tradition!
[Toasting with Matt’s glass while he photographs : ) ]
Dinner buffet – delicious!!
I particularly loved the lamb börek and the blackberries!
The beautiful bride!
And groom!
Uncle Mel (who is 102 years young!) and Aunt Betty started off the dancing
Before Beaner stepped in!
The FROSTINGS!! Amazing.
And homemade blackberry apple pies <3
As the sun set, Chris, Uncle Chris, Beaner and Anna, plus more sang a few songs
And Matt rekindled his love for the banjo!
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

Outdoor weddings are so lovely
Stunning! All of it! Congrats to the happy couple.
That first picture is absolutely gorgeous, Kath! Looks like a lovely wedding, especially those desserts
(hahah kidding..kinda)
Your grams is simply adorable. I love the look on her face. The wedding looks beautiful and fun, outdoorsy style. Fun to see all the different ways people do their weddings, especially bc I’m in the beginning stages of planning myself.
Love Grandma’s face with the drink!
Looks like fun!
102! Wow! Those are some good genes! It looks and sounds like you all had a marvelous time at the wedding. I love that it was so different and simple and yet memorable.
I am so impressed that at 102 he’s out there dancing. Amazing!
What a gorgeous wedding!! Everything was just lovely. I’m glad everyone had a great time. Congrats to the newlyweds!!
What a perfect summer wedding! (and oh, those cakes!)
What a beautiful wedding! I love the bride’s dress very simple and pretty.
Lovely pictures! Your uncle Mel dancing is priceless. I can only hope that I will be able to dance at his age.
I like nontraditional weddings like this one… they are so much fun!
Sounds like a wonderful wedding and I gotta say- fruit is so photogenic
What a wonderful location for a wedding. You, your sister and of course the bride looked beautiful! I can’t believe your uncle Mel is 102 years old. He must have done something right!
speechless!!
The opening picture, how gorgeous!
And then the food, the berries, finger foods, the carved oranges, the drinks..oh Kath, wow! And you look great. Love the “vow renewal” pic too
Oh my gosh, her dress was my reception dress for my Mexican wedding! She added the sheer top layer right? Or at least they didn’t have it with that when I bought it, but that was 2 years ago. It’s Nicole Miller! I got it off Ruelala and had the skier completely chopped off and it was the most fun cocktail dress ever. So fun to see how we both had the same dress yet wore it so different!
Skier = skirt
Hey Kath
Loved your photos…what a pretty wedding!
Off topic: I stumbled upon this on Etsy and it just SCREAMS Matt!

Lovely wedding! I adore her wedding dress. It is stunning. What a fun night!
That is the prettiest wedding ever! I love her dress. I hope I am still out dancing at 102 years old
Absolutely gorgeous photos! I adore the idea of an outside wedding like that, so romantic and beautiful.
Great wedding, love these casual laid back weddings! Is the groom an Aussie? I ask because you quoted down under & the Aussie hats
Yes he is! And he and Caroline live in Tasmania
I did see later on a previous blog that u said he was an aussie…i started reading the most current blog first & worked my way backwards catching up! I’m an Aussie follower of your blog, you must visit Australia one day!!!
Just like a fairytale! Beautiful!!! Don’t we all hope to be like Uncle Mel.
How sweet that he started off the dancing. Those will be cherished pictures.
How beautiful! I especially love the last picture!
Your grandma is so stylish! You have some very beautiful women in your family
This looks like an amazing celebration. And I am so impressed that your 102 year old uncle started the dancing – wow, what an inspiration.
Matt plays the banjo?! How cool is that!! It’s interesting to see what different weddings are like…the only weddings I have gone to so far are big European catholic weddings – church, then reception hall!
Used to…but still fun to play a little! He also plays the guitar and mandolin
What a lovely wedding! I hope you have time to see the tall ships before you leave the Baltimore area. They’re all over the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Canton and Locust Point. They’re advertising it as a Sailabration remembering 1812, Fort Mc Henry, etc.
I’ve been to the harbor many times (and Fort McH!) but sadly won’t make it this trip
I love reading about your trips to Maryland…they make me miss Bmore so much! I also LOVE the Natty Bo welcoming table. In my very humble opinion, that is one of the best “hipster beers”! Also, totally unrelated, but I love your mom’s haircut! It’s really flattering on her!
Dogwood caters weddings?! They’re one of my favorite restaurants in the city—we just went there for my birthday last weekend!
Also, do you think your cousin would be ok with you sharing the name of the outdoor chapel? It looks absolutely stunning.
Send me an email
Beautiful! Are they returning to Oz to live after this? A long way to travel for his side of the family!
what a lovely wedding! you and matt lead such exciting lives, I love reading all about it
gorgeous photos! love the kegs and natty bohs. what a creative wedding!
What a lovely wedding! So great that the weather was good for the outdoor festivities! Everything looked so personal. Much better than the overly “planned” type of wedding where every thing looks non personal.
Chills! This is the vibe I hope for our wedding (a little over a month away!).
beautiful wedding!
What gorgeous pictures, and what an awesome wedding celebration…perfect mix of tradition and modern but all so warm and personal!
My fav pic (hard to choose one) but I LOVE your mom and her bro and the fist bump… it looks like he’s trying NOT to smile, but just can’t contain himself!
Safe travels home!
Loved the fist pump too!
Oh thanks! That was my brother’s idea. He doesn’t seem the type but there’s nothing like a wedding for being extra mellow.
Your grandma looks so pretty!
And I love the floral dress on you — perfect for an outdoor wedding!
Beautiful wedding & reception!!! Wonderful foods as well!

LOVE her wedding dress. And loving the casual vibe of the wedding…something to keep in mind!
Glad you had a good time!
I know you have shared wedding pics before, but for some reason, these made me tear up! It was at the “vow renewal” picture that I think the tears kicked in. Beautiful wedding and a beautiful couple.
Thank you for continuing to share your daily journey with us Kath!
The bride looks like Anna Paquin! So beautiful. And I love her dress!
I thought the same thing!
It looks like a beautiful, fun outdoor wedding – I’ve only been to Catholic church weddings with very formal receptions. I think I’d enjoy the outdoor wedding much more!
Gorgeous bride! You look radiant as well.
I loved the title of this post! Seems like your family has lots of sweet traditions. The wedding was very pretty – the first photo and the last are my favorite. I think they seem to capture a certain mood. The photo of you toasting (from the side) is very nice and flattering.
Those deserts look great. And can I just say that I think your grandmother is awesome? I think she looks super fun and sassy and cool!!
Your family sure knows how to put on a wedding!
Looks like a fun evening! The first photo is absolutely GORGEOUS!
Beautiful, beautiful pics, Kath!! You can feel the love that you and your family share through all of these pictures. Loved seeing them! Happy Father’s Day to Matt.
Stunning! The whole gathering seems perfect! I love the ribbons in the trees–they’re so beautiful! The food all looks amazing. The lighting and atmosphere is so romantic too. Just wow!
Yeah Natty Boh!! Were Berger cookies also in attendance?
Her dress was soo soo pretty! What a fun night it must have been
Uncle Mel put a smile on my face right away! How amazing that he is so young at heart. Beautiful!
What a beautiful wedding! Congrats to the newlyweds!
I’ve said it before but I will say it again. You really should consider photographing weddings!!
I’ve too have said it before, and yet am saying it again..I know your plates are more than full at the moment, but really, you excel at capturing the magic when photographing special events! Truly, I’d hire you in second if we lived closer, Kath!
Wonderful photos; gorgeous wedding!
Thank you, Kath, for showcasing this wedding! I, sadly, have no weddings to attend this Summer, so I am living vicariously through your wedding recaps (here’s hoping that you have more to attend this Summer! haha).
Did you have a Manhattan toast at your own wedding?
No, wish we had! We did serve Manhattans though
Gorgeous bride! So obsessed with her wedding dress!
Uncle Mel-the life of the party! Literally.
I love your sister’s dress she wore to the wedding! Where is it from?
Francescas! Thanks:)
Congratulations to the very happy couple!
Uncle Mel and Aunt Betty are precious.
A great time for all; how fun.
Beautiful pictures! Beautiful wedding!
This is sort of an odd question, but I love your sister’s dress – do you know where it is from, by any chance?
What a beautiful wedding! Makes me so excited about mine. I hope y’all had a wonderful time!
Looks like such a fun family wedding! And I love Aunt Betty’s top…so stylish:)
What a gorgeous setting! Looks like a blast
Your wedding ring is beautiful! The wedding was just lovely!
Her dress was beautiful, as was yours! That wedding looks like something out of a storybook, magical and oh so gorgeous!
Small world – a photo from this same wedding appeared on my facebook news feed this morning – turns out the groom is the brother of one of my high school friends!(I’m from Australia, obviously!) Looks like it was a really beautiful wedding!
Wow!!!
This wedding is AMAZING! And it’s giving me inspiration for my own wedding!
The wedding looked beautiful! So happy you had nice weather for it! I spotted the Natty Boh, wouldn’t be a Baltimore wedding without it!
What a beautiful wedding!!
My favorites were the brides’ hair and the hydrangeas!! Everything looked absolutely exquisite!
