Wheee! I had a great day!
Wrapped up some good work at the office and never got hungry for a snack. As much as I love snacks, I do like the days when my meals do the trick.
I came home to Matt and let him rest while I took over dinner tonight. I had a fun new recipe to try!
Angela‘s In A Jiffy Spelt Veggie Burgers!
Veggies into the food processor (I omitted onion and added ‘shrooms)
I don’t use my food processor enough – because I hate cleaning it! But I’ve started just using my dishwasher!!! A miracle. You see, I don’t like using the dishwasher because then we have to run it! We only run it every few days so we try to pack it full before we do and the food processor takes up so much space for one dish!!
Enough of that nonsense!
Chop away!
Can’t do this buy hand!
Added the seeds and flour (didn’t have spelt so used whole wheat)
Ready to go!
[I halved the recipe and made some ballz to go with the patties]
After the production I had:
- A dirty Cuisinart
- A can of chickpeas minus half a cup
DUH – make hummus!!!!!!! Another recipe I’ve been saving: Ashley‘s Curry Honey Hummus!!
GENIUS!!! This was sooooooo good. Sweet from honey. Spiced up. Rockin’ good. Way to go Ash! (Wish I had the time and sunlight to photograph it as pretty as she did!)
Dinna -
Two Fer Two. Both of these recipes were awesome!
Also on the production line: acorn squash with coconut butter HEAB style.
[NOTE TO SELF: Acorn squash season is O.V.E.R.]
And KALE CHIPS! With ketchup.
Food tastes so good!
You know what also rocks? Zac Brown Band. I listened to their CD "Foundation" on Grooveshark while I cooked. Best thing to hit music since Brad Paisley.
We also watched Glee Episode 2. Loved this one!! Can tell I’m going to be hooked. The ending song – Take A Bow – was amazing.
Going to READ!

Glad you used your food processor! Looks like a yummmmmy meal!
Love all the singing..and it’s hularious!
And also glad you love Glee! I am totally hooked
YUMMMMM! I am not a big fan of acorn squash. Maybe I should try roasting it like that!
I’ve never tried kale chips dipped in ketchup! Sounds good and I think I need to try it.
i rarely run my dishwasher too. i know there are reports that it wastes less water to run it half empty than to handwash it, but i can’t get past it!
Those look delicious! STill need to try the chips…
oh you will SO get glee hooked, just wait. you will be buying the CD’s soon!
I need to watch more Glee – I’ve watched a few of the episodes.
Need to try that Veggie Burger recipe – doesn’t look too difficult!
Enjoy your evening!
Those look delicious! The ketchup makes it for me.
Uh oh, I just bought an acorn squash today…we’ll see. :/
Wow my food processor could never handle a job like that- I’m quite impressed!
Your dinner looks killer good though! And thanks for the hummus idea/recipe link! I love trying new hummuses and variations ^_^
I love Glee and can’t wait till it starts back up
yummmm that hummus looks tasty!
I tried the spelt burger recipe from Angela’s blog about a month ago and mine didn’t turn out. Your’s look good, maybe I will have to try it again. I like the idea of honey hummus, was it sweet?
Yes, sweet. But not too much.
I’ll have to try those veggie burgers they look super good!
I am inspired by your creativity! Whenever I have extra of an ingredient, I just put it in the fridge and hope I think of a way to use it in a few days. You think up something amazing right on the spot!
i have take a bow on my iPod, love glee! i agree, cleaning the food processor is the only thing holding me back from using it more often!
TOLD YOU TOLD YOU TOLD YOU!!! I’m so glad you love GLEE!!!!
I’ve also noticed that acorn squash season is over
And the bell peppers haven’t been looking great either
The spelt burgers look so good! I love slathering veggie burgers in hummus
I got a food processor for my birthday and was so nervous to use it, but now I love it! Who know how much you can make from it! I agree though, a pain to clean, good idea making multiple recipes at once!
That looks amazing!
(I feel the same way about my food processor–never use it because I hate taking it apart & washing it.)
P.S. You & Matt might be interested in this–Conan O’Brien started a new Twitter feed:

Oh my goodness those look absolutely delish!!!! I just squeaked out loud b/c I realized that the food processor you have is what we are getting for our wedding! And I will FINALLY be able to make things as fabulous as your meal tonight
It’s the little things…
What a delicious looking dinner! Genius
Another AMAZING KERF supper
WOW!!!! all looks delish, can’t wait to try!
My dishwasher never has enough room for my food processor so I always end up washing it by hand. Or I make my husband do it
Quick question – do you use organic ketchup? Or Heinz?
Harris Teeter brand regular
You have got to get the soundtrack for GLEE! It is amazing! Take a Bow is only the beginning!
That homemade hummus sounds great. I just bought a huge can of garbanzos so I’m going to be making some after my stash of Sabra I just bought on sale is done.
Ahh I need to try BOTH of those recipes. The “burgers” look deliciouus and honey curry hummus – the name just calls to me!!
I love the way you sliced those acorns–beautimous!
It’s so hard for me to buy hummus now knowing how easy it is to make mahself…esp with my cuisineart stick blender courtesy of YOU!
LOVE zac brown band!
they came to richmond for a free show last summer and it was SO GOOD
I didn’t use my food processor for the longest time for the same reason, and now that I’ve started using it, I LOVE it!!! You can do so much so quickly!
LOVE Zac Brown Band! I’ll have to try while cooking.
What an awesome looking dinner! This makes me want to go over to my parents house and ‘borrow’ their food processor. I was the only one who used it anyways! ;p
i’m so glad you liked ash’s hummus! i could eat that stuff with a spoon…
sounds like a match made in heaven with those recipes!
Your kale chips sound great! I usually use a simple recipe with tuscan kale. I can’t wait to try the rest of tonight’s dinner recipes too!
Glad you enjoyed the burgers!
I let my food processor sit brand new in a box for 8 months…I finally dragged it out + figured it out and now I used it all the time!!! The key is rinsing it immediately and then washing by hand is no problem…I always kick myself when I let it sit for a while.
I still haven’t tried kale chips…or grocery store doesn’t carry kale much in the winter!
i looooovee brad paisly and so happy you found out about zac brown band- they are awesome too,
Speaking of good recipes, I made your low and slow sweet potatoes with dinner last night and they were THE BEST ROASTED SWEET POTATOES I’VE EVER TASTED. Never doing them another way again! Thank you much!
Woo hoo!
I love Zac Brown Band too! And Brad Paisley! Chicken Fried rocks!!! You should try Darius Rucker’s CD too!
I need a food processor.
What a delicious looking and filling dinner.
I’m with you – I hate using my food processor – and blender. I now use my blender stick whenever possible… We don’t have a dishwasher, though really I can’t complain, my boyfriend does 98% of the dishes.
Glee is the BEST! I’m so excited the second half of the season won’t start until I’m back from Australia. Don’t want to miss a moment.
That hummus sounds tasty! Thanks for sharing Ashley’s recipe!
I just tried Ange’s ‘In a Jiffy Burgers’ for the first time yesterday. They are SO good!!
Oh wow! I’m so making those burgers!! I don’t know what I’d do without my food processor, it’s my favorite appliance!
We love Zac Brown Band and my baby totally rocks it to “Chicken Fried”! Dinner looks yummy!
Such a great dinner! I’m the same way about my food processor… I just hate to get the darn thing dirty! It is such a handy kitchen tool though.
HA! I’m the same way with my kitchenaid mixer. It’s so pretty sitting on my counter, I don’t want to get it dirty, but I do anyway
Love Zac Brown Band!! I actually have “chicken fried” on my running playlist-which is weird, but I love it
I so know how you feel – I need to use my food processor more! I don’t have that problem with the dishwasher though – ever since I had one break and learned they need to be run at least once per week, I make the most of mine
The hummus sounds perfect, and your little hummus/veggie burger stack is the cutest thing I’ve seen in a while
I love that you made the curry hummus!!! I’m in love with it myself
Also, I’m in love the the jiffy spelt burgers..omg..so so good..and 3rdly i LOVE the burger hummus snowman you made!!! weeeeeee Kale chips nom nom nom
Acorn squash season is over?!? Nooooo!! Oh how I love my winter squash. Well I guess I’ll have to find another veggie to roast in adobo sauce. Yours looks delish!! And the patties with homemade hummus.. that is so going in my bookmarks. Have a happy Friday
Those burgers looks delicious! I like the idea of honey scented hummus too, that sounds tasty
How can acorn squash be over!!?? What a blasphemy! I hope it’s JUST acorn squash that you’re done with and no aaall squash, cos that would suck
Mushrooms make everything better!
I love how your patty + ball looks like a little man with a hat!
What a fantastically refreshing meal! Thanks as always for all the great meal ideas, it is so very much appreciated!
I had homemade bean burgers and kale chips last night, too. I think I am going to add those particular burgers to my menu for next week. They sound really good.
Your made from scratch dinner looks outstanding. Those acorn squash slices kind of look like delicious flower pedals.
I love love love Zac Brown Band! They are so southern
My favorite song is Highway 20 Ride! and Toes and Chicken Fried are both just awesome, feel good songs!
i was in Cracker Barrel in November and they were selling the CD there! So i got it
Wow, I’m going to have to check out that hummus recipe, it sounds so good! And your good mood is catching.
I want to try these spelt burgers. they look so good! Angela is awesome!
gah – another reminder that I need a food processor! the burgers + hummus look great
I am the same way with my food processor…such a pain to clean, I seriously debated making a smoothie for breakfast this morning just because I did not want to clean the blender. I love Glee!! And episode 2 was when I got really hooked, when she sings Take a Bow at the end it seriously gave me chills.
Loved your spelt burger/spelt ball hummus mountain. Looks like the perfect dinner to me…hopefully, the coconut butter spruced up your squash.
Note to self…buy kale.
Enjoy your Friday Kath!
I actually read somewhere that running the dishwasher is more energy / water efficient than washing dishes by hand! I was surprised, but I guess it makes sense…
On another note, I’m always sad when winter squash season ends. Don’t get me wrong – winter itself is the worst! But I love acorn and butternut squashies!
We have a food processor, and I really don’t use it enough. We have it out of reach as well since our storage is lacking but I definitely need to bust it out and those burgers. Zac Brown band is SO good! Love it. Also love me some Grooveshark. I hear the Glee soundtrack is amazing to run to. I may have to try it!
Why don’t you just wash the food processor by hand? That’s what I do, it takes a minute.
I love my food processor! It is a pain to clean, but totally worth it.
Thanks for that curry hummus recipe – I’m going to have to try that this weekend!
K
What kind of ketchup do you use? I’d like to find one without HFCS…
Apologies…just saw you already told someone what kind of ketchup you use! Still, have you ever seen a brand w/o HFCS?
I tried Annie’s once (or some organic brand) and honestly it did not taste good at all. I don’t eat ketchup everyday and I [usually] don’t eat it by the cup, so I’m not worried about a little HFCS in it.
Heinz Organic does not have HFCS and it tastes a million times better than regular Heinz.
Looks super delish!
LOVE Zac Brown band!
