You Can Always Go, Downtown

“The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go”

IMG_5730Blog-2

Downtown take I

IMG_5723Blog

Downtown take II!

IMG_5724Blog

Matt and I biked all around town this afternoon and they we did QUITE a bit of walking! I figured we covered about 10 miles on bike and 5-6 miles on foot – yeehaw!

You can guess who helped me out with the walking bit 🙂

IMG_5711Blog-2

Faith and Tate were involved

IMG_5709Blog-2

Totally chill. Totally fun. Classic Friday night livin’ it up in Cville!

IMG_5731Blog

We started our First Friday adventure with the 2.2 mile walk downtown, and to the Public Radio Station for a reception and some chatting

IMG_5712Blog-2

The had a wonderful spread of cheeses and crackers from Feast!

IMG_5716Blog

I ate my weight in cheese (just a snapshot of all the beautiful cheeses I tried)

IMG_5718Blog

Also snack on the veg!

IMG_5719Blog-2

And had a small glass of vino and just LOOOOOVE those whole wheat Caars crackers!!

RadioBlog-2

Our next stop was Second Street Gallery, which had a nice collection of photographs and interesting artwork

IMG_5722Blog-2

We stopped into Artifacts, but it was closed!!

So we went to Market Street Wine Shop to taste some flavors. Mmm reds.

MarketstBlog

Lastly we move on to the Garage, a neat space-turned-studio. It’s just an open garage downtown!

IMG_5732Blog

IMG_5734Blog-2

IMG_5744Blog

We chilled

ChillinBlog

And nibbled

IMG_5735Blog-2

And played

Couch-2Blog

And ate some amazing Jam According to Daniel! His jam jars each contain a POUND of local fruit and are the best I’ve had – on par with my favorite Great Harvest Mountain Berry!

JamBlog

A taste of Pollock’s wine

IMG_5747Blog

Lots of folks were out and about tonight!

IMG_5741Blog-2

When the crawl was over at 7, we ventured into a used bookstore

IMG_5757Blog-2

BooksBlog-2

IMG_5760Blog

And settled at Horse + Hound Gastropub for dinner (with one addition – friend Sam)

IMG_5761Blog

I wasn’t too hungry, so I just had a green salad to munch

IMG_5769Blog

And helped Matt with his fish + chips + vinegar (vinegar)

IMG_5767Blog

We also shared a SCHLAFLY beer!!!!!!!!!!! A Stout! Sadly I don’t remember which kind of stout this was, but being a Schlafly, it was good! My first non-pumpkin one. [Note this was an 8 ounce glass – our server split the beer for us! How nice.]

Beer-2Blog

We ended our fabulous First Friday with a walk to The Corner where we got a huuuuuge tub of Peanut Butter froyo (Matt and I filled up our Arches card!) with gooey brownie!

IMG_5773Blog-2

And played a game of UNO.

IMG_5774Blog

Faith won.
