Wine + Chocolate

I lacking the motivation to type tonight – I can’t focus for some reason and keep thinking about chocolate!!!

[Just ate a square of dark. Feel better].

Classes went fine. Test went fine. I chugged through the day. Wish I could have spent it outside!!

I couldn’t decide what snack to eat during class so I just took a photo of all of the bars I had in my stash. Operation Bar Stash Reduction in full effect.

IMG_3882 (480x640)

I ended up eating that wonderful Jazz apple around 3:30, a few bites of the KIND bar at 5 (gave the rest to Lauri) and then had half the Larabar before my test. I was going to have the other half of the Larabar on the drive home, but you’ll see why I didn’t need it in a bit…

I ate my dinner after the test at 6:30 – I Bean + Caper Sandwich on Hazelnut Cocoa Bread from Great Harvest. The bread tastes a lot like pumpernickel (and this was an awesome topping combo)

IMG_3883 (640x480)

Navy beans were just mashed with some EVOO and salt

IMG_3886 (640x480)

I also had a carrot with a tbsp of Futter Butter Pumpkin Seed butter a la VeggieGirl! It is GREEN and tastes like something else I’ve had before. Grass fed beef maybe!?!? It’s good, but could use some salt!

IMG_3884 (480x640)

IMG_3885 (640x480)

After class (which got out a bit early!) we walked back to EarthFare where our cars were parked and realized there was a wine + beer tasting going on!!

IMG_3889 (480x640)

I had about 6 different tastes (and turned down many more due to my drive home!) and 2 knobby pretzels. [The Blouberg you see there is one of my very favorite white wines!!!]

IMG_3890 (640x480)

I tasted this New Belgium 1554 and LOVED it so I bought a big bottle for Matt as a thank you for all of his help recently <3 I know he’s probably had it before, but he’ll love the surprise.

IMG_4066 (427x640)

Once home I felt a little empty due to a smaller dinner, but I wasn’t really hungry due to a liquid dessert. But I ended up digging into the chocolate. I had a piece of dark and then remember BethT’s gourmet chocolates and had the Bourbon Pecan!

IMG_4065 (640x427)

Delightful.

I’ve got to get in bed – Sarah is in Charlotte and we’re meeting for an early run!!

I love wine and chocolate together. I love going to the wine festivals where they give you a great red wine to try with a piece of chocolate. SO yummy.

I’ve been reading for awhile, but I’m a first time commenter. Couldn’t resist, as you wrote about New Belgium beer. 🙂 I live in Denver, so the brewery is just an hour’s drive away. Their facility is almost 100% wind powered and do lots of other sustainable practices. They are awesome!

My husband is also a home brewer, so it’s pretty neat to read about Matt brewing, too. 🙂

I like to doctor up pumpkin seed butter with about 1 tbsp sea salt and some lemon juice for a jar, using my Magic Bullet smoothie maker. It adds a salty flair!

And FYI, if anyone is interested in alternative nut butters, cashew is mind-blowingly good.

1554 is one of my faves! If you ever see Session Black (from Full Sail Brewing Company), definitely give it a try. It’s a cheaper beer (that may not be available on the East Coast) but so, so good.
