Who Wears Short Shorts?

Guess what I did this morning!!!!!!!!!

ShortscollageBlog

I went RUNNING!!! Matt set the alarm for 6:30 and I was out the door by 7. I did a swift 4 miles. I forget how much better I run first thing in the morning with just 2 bites of banana in my stomach instead of a whole bowl of oats or a salad still digesting. I ran 4.0 miles in 34:48 with an average pace of 8:42. Two of my miles were at 8:34 and 8:35. I am FINALLY getting my speed back – thanks to the warmer weather!

So why all the gratituous photos of me? Because I was trying to get a photo of my new shorts!! My friend Crystal gave these to me because they were not the perfect fit for her. Well, they are the PERFECT fit for me. I’ve never owned any true “running” shorts (most of mine are Target/Old Navy) and this is my second run with these. LOVE them! I love that they are loose and airy and the waist (a size large, nonetheless) fits perfectly with no digging in.

IMG_8839Blog

I tell you all of this because I think I found the same style online and ordered two more pairs this morning – I got quite a steal!

First I searched through Ebates for Nike Dry Fit to see if they had any stores that sell them. They do indeed – Bare Necessities – so I clicked through to get 5.0% cash back. Ebates has been awesome! I bought my sister a Crate + Barrel gift card through the site for a graduation present and got cash back on that, and also those sports bras I got a while back from Fresh Pair. And some makeup from Sephora. Plus today’s shorts! [Disclosure: the link about IS a referral link so I get points if you sign up, but I also honestly think this free money is quite neato!]

Once clicked through to Bare Necessities I found the shorts for $28 – pretty good price for exercise clothing. I put 2 pairs in my cart and got FREE shipping!!!

THEN I Googled for a coupon code to Bare Necessities and somehow got 20% off my entire order!?!!! Googled promotion coupons NEVER work for me so I was very surprised that it did and got such a good deal!

SPRING4FRIEND
20% Off Any Order
Expires: 5/31/2011

Two pairs of shorts, free shipping, 5% cash back and 20% off all for $45 = deal of the day!

I celebrated with coffee!

IMG_8852Blog

And a yogurt bowl – complete with Socca!

IMG_8856Blog

Faith brought me a piece of her homemade socca last night. I believe it’s sort of a flat bread / pancake made with chickpea flour? It sure tasted beany! I’m not quite sure why I thought it would be more sweet bready for breakfast, but I put it in my breakfast beany and all!

IMG_8850Blog

It was good, and I loved the texture. I think next time I’d have it with lunch though 😉

IMG_8853Blog

My bowl included a cup of greek yogurt, half a banana, half a mango, socca, ground flax, coconut and sunflower butter

IMG_8847Blog

And coffee #3! I think my rankings of the Shenandoah Joes goes #1, #3, #2.

IMG_8846Blog

I’m off to the print shop, then home to meet a guy to fix a window, then lunch, then to the bakery all day and all night!

Ahh SOCCA! I love it! I’m making some right now, except with added curry powder, herbs, chestnut flour…it’s awesome 🙂 It’s one of my favourite foods, but definitely more savoury.

Good for you for getting up and out in the early AM, I really need to start doing that because I run or workout usually in the late morning but so much can get in the way!

Look at those strong legs you go girl! and thanks for the heads up with ebates, I need some more running shorts as my favorite ones split at the seams when I was doing squats! 😛

I so want to like running shorts like that, but I need the compression style. All of that fabric just bunches up and I spend time tugging at them. They look good on you though and good job getting out for a run!

Definitely beany!! 🙂 As much as I love garbanzos I’m not the biggest fan of the flour and I figured out it definitely does a number on my stomach!! Maybe because the beans aren’t cooked before being ground into flour? I love getting awesome deals on athletic gear and running shorts make SUCH a big difference. I remember transitioning from those cotton “soffee” shorts to real running shorts and about fell over in excitement. 😉

I like to buy quality clothes to work out in. I usually find mine at Ross or Marshall’s, checking that section when I go in looking for other things. I have a bowl of oats in my stomach right now, and it will be hours before I can go run. I just did not feel up to running first thing this am. It’ll happen, either way though.

Great shorts! I have trouble finding shorts that fit- they always ride up. Or, the waist is too tight but the bottoms fit nicely, they can’t be too long because I have short legs and then they seem to just restrict my stride… so many variables! Excuse the personal question but do those have the built in underwear? I haven’t made up my mind on those yet. I just need some ideas for shorts, I am running a half marathon and told myself I could treat myself to a pair of new running shorts for the half marathon. Thanks for the coupon tips!

Yes, they do have built in underwear. I was against that for so long because they felt so tight on me, but I guess since these are a large they are nice and stretchy 🙂 I always still wear normal undies too – if that’s TMI! – because I just don’t feel like the shorts underwear should be all I’m wearing!

I love Nike Tempo shorts! I’ve tried a lot of different running shorts, but these are definitely some of my favorites. (I have 4 pairs.) Although when I rolled the waistband down (which I often do because I can’t stand them to be high on my waist) they will give me “diaper butt.”

I hate how bogged down I feel after eating, so that’s why I usually run on an empty stomach.

I love it when an internet coupon works out! It’s like hitting the lottery LOL. I will have to check Ebates out, I am surprised I have never heard of them.

You made me crave Great Harvest. I haven’t been in a while since the one in the town where I work closed :(. I remembered though that there’s one near my house and since I’m working from home today that’s where I went…. California Cobb, Granola and a loaf of Whole Wheat Cinnamon Chip. And a nice converstation with the owners that were there working hard.

Now I want to go back every day for all of the different types of bread…mmmm.

Thanks SO much for the running shorts highlight! I run all the time but don’t own a pair of true “running shorts” either. I’m looking to get some, though, and I’m definitely going to take a look at the pairs you bought!

I love those Nike Dri Fit Tempo shorts – they are my favorite shorts to run in and I always love summer so I can finally wear them again – I have 4 pair and always want more. They are the perfect length – enough for movement and coverage!

I also started doing ebates! It’s awesome:)

Sad face. I want the Tempos to work out for me so badly, they come in the cutest colors and I can always find deals on them. My thighs just swallow them up though, and it looks like I am not wearing any at all! Not a good look 🙂 That and I get major chafing from the thigh rubbage. (probbaly not a real word)

Thanks for sharing the Bare Necessities site though. I am going to explore!

Love my Nikes too. Wear them all the time. You can usually find them on Clearance at Dick’s Sporting Goods (I wear Medium and they always have M & L). Ragged Mountain Running also has a good selection that are on sale 🙂

Love these shorts! In the past few years I’ve accumulated quite a few, too. I think the last count was 8 so I only have to do laundry once/week. Now that I think of it, they are SUPER durable considering that I’ve worn/washed them once per week for the past 5 years… I know I’ve had some pairs since college!

Those Nike running shorts are my FAVORITE ever! I own 5 pairs… I love the colors, PLUS they don’t cling, they’re light, breathable, moveable, …the whole kit and kaboodle! I slightly dislike running in cooler/cold weather bc I have to wear my tights or capris.
