Who Put Oats In My Pumpkin?

OMG those Duggars! [Yes, still watching.] According to Josh Duggar, I only have half a heart because I left pieces of my heart with Joey, and Hugh David, and Snakey. I can’t imagine if I married my first boyfriend!! (Which would have been – I think – Jeremy Davis in kindergarten! Or Jared O’Quinn in first grade or Chris Campbell in second grade….OK I’ll stop

 this !
)

I woke up feeling a little off this morning. Kind of like I’m sick but not sick? I’m thinking either dehydration from yoga or perhaps I’ve been drinking too much decaf and not enough caf this week (I’m down to 30% caf and 60% decaf in the wean plan and hope to stay at those percentages because I am not dependent if I’m under 50% caf.)

Any hobbled down to make some breakfast.

One heck of a combo – with a ton of pumpkin!!

  • 1/3 cup oats, 2/3 cup water [out of milk!!!]
  • 2 tbsp wheatberries
  • 1/2 medium banana (edited to add this!)
  • 1/2 cup+ pumpkin, stirred in at end
  • 1/4 cup cottage cheese, stirred in at end
  • Cinnamon, vanilla, pinch salt
  • Drizzle maple syrup
  • Few butterscotch chips
  • CRUSHED BISCOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Barney Butter

IMG_1746 (640x427)

Nothin’ but a blanket of freshly fallen snow

IMG_1738 (640x427)

The ice caps are melting!!

    The oats look fab!

And I can relate to the feeling of sort of sick, but not really sick. I think it has something to do with the business of the Christmas season (for me at least) while also being a bit dehydrated. Gotta guzzle some more water! 😀

I’m sort of feeling the same way – I really hope I’m not sick, although, I’ve been stressing a lot lately, and that typically does me in!
    Happy packing:)

What does the cottage cheese do to the oatmeal?? Does it make the oatmeal cheesy tasting? Just curious. Have a great day Kath!

You were watching “17 Kids and Counting” this morning too? Yeah, those kids give me the heeby-jeebies. Waiting until your wedding day for the first kiss? In a word: Eek.

I have to say that I have NEVER been an oatmeal person, but your blog is slowly and surely convincing me to give them a shot. The sheer amount of variety is impressive!

I am really fascinated by the Duggars, I find myself watching episodes of their show in complete fascination. Great if that works for them but I always find myself wondering about their lives. Like do the go to college? Get jobs in the real world?

I think the Duggars are a lovely family…you must like them a little bit also or you wouldn’t waste your time watching! 😉 Why put them down for their beliefs when you wouldn’t want someone putting you down for your disbelief??? I say, as long as they are not asking anyone else to raise their children and are doing so well and are so happy, then that is all that matters. After all, the Bible says that children are a gift and that is certainly how this family reacts to each and every precious baby that is born to them…like they have just been given the most wonderful gift ever. All babies are precious, huh? Who could not LOVE them! Have a Merry CHRISTmas and remember…JESUS is the reason for this season.

Unless you’re one of the millions of non-Christians in this world who celebrate some other solstice-related tradition ;). People have been having solstice festivities since way, way before Christianity came about. But that’s a discussion for another time.

I don’t think Kath was “putting down” the Duggars as much as questioning…and isn’t questioning important so we can all be sure we’re doing what’s truly best for us? I’m happy to have people question my belief system (which you might call “disbelief” but I just call “belief in something other”)…I might learn something!

Kath, you have not yet broken me of my major “ick” reaction to cottage cheese, but I’m one step closer to adding pumpkin to my oats (somehow I don’t think drenching my bowl in pumpkin butter is the same thing ;))

TLC only tells half the story. The Duggars look nice, but Bill Gothard’s teachings have ruined lives. What you see on tv is a nice, watered down version of reality. There is definitely a dark side, and it is ugly. I don’t think they would have nearly the support they do if people knew what Bill Gothard and ATI, and Vision Forum are REALLY about.

–from someone who lives in the same area, whose child sees the doctor whose office they used for the Bradley method, and who wound up in a NASTY situation thanks to the same teachings, only even less extreme.

      I won’t touch the ridiculous Jesus comment . . . 🙂

Sorry if I sound rude–not trying to. But if you’ve had the same emotional trauma and havoc wreaked upon your life thanks to these types of teachings, then you know how triggering these types of comments can be.

I love 18 Kids and Counting, but honestly they’re a little nuts sometimes. The episode where Josh Duggar got married was so bizarre to me! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with marrying your first boyfriend but I wouldn’t strive for it. If it happens, it happens but I think it’s weird that they can’t even kiss til their wedding. I feel like their wedding night must be so awkward!
