Well Rested.

Ahhhh. I read in bed for a good 45 minutes last night and the lights were out at 8:45. And I was dreaming when I woke up this AM – always a good sign of a good night’s rest.

Ready to take on the day!

I made a simple, non-traditional KERF breakfast: cereal with milk?

IMG_2086 (640x427)

IMG_2082 (640x427)

Featuring a portion of New Morning Oatios I received to sample…ages ago! They were like an airier Cheerios. But with 5 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber per cup. And very low in sugar (2g). Anything based on oats must be good!

IMG_2089 (640x427)

So I filled my bowl with 1 cup of Organic Valley Yogurt  (vanilla), ~2/3 a cup of Oatios (all that was left), a kiwi, half a huge banana, a sprinkle of granola and a sprinkle of chia seeds.

IMG_2083 (640x427)

It tasted great and I loved the crunch. And I love how the yogurt drink acts as a thick milk for cereal.

But I’m not that full at all! I feel like I could eat a second breakfast of oatmeal. But I’ve learned in the past that sometimes breakfast that leave me still feeling empty (bread based, cereal based) still have the same number of satisfying hours. I just never feel full. It’s more of a straight line than an up and down. So we’ll see. I can always break into my lunch early 🙂

IMG_2084 (640x427)

On the side I had a Bigelow Vanilla Chai tea mixed with Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride

IMG_2078 (640x427)

IMG_2077 (640x427)

Now if you’ll excuse me, Blair, Nate, Chuck, Serena and the rest are waiting for me to finish their episode! I have to leave for work in 14 minutes!

I LOVE cold cereal as much as you love oats. It’s nice to change things up every once in awhile, but there’s nothing wrong with having a favorite breakfast!

And I can totally relate to that “straight line” talk that you were mentioning about never feeling full but never getting too hungry before lunch either. Strange but true. 😀

I can never eat cereal as a meal. Always a snack. I never get filled up from it. Normally it is a crunchy topper for my oatmeal! I never do the milk thing with it either. I love it with yogurt and fruit. I need to get some chia seeds. I bet that would be a good addition to the mix. have a great day!

I love cold cereal. I could eat bowls of it every single day! When I went home for Christmas (I live in Africa) it had been well over a year without cereal, and I am pretty sure I knocked off a Costco 3-pack of Honey Nut Cheerios in a couple of weeks. My problem with cereal is once I start eating it I absolutely cannot stop! It is worse than ice cream or anything else in that respect. I really want to learn how to be able to eat just one bowl… but until then I will stick to oats. Most of the time. Who am I kidding, I just had two huge bowls of crappy African cereal at lunch. Whoops.

I love the simple pleasure of just reading in bed. I’ve started waking up 1/2 an hour earlier just to read in bed for half an hour before starting the day. It eases me into the morning. 😉

I lived in Copenhagen for 6 months and a milk-like yogurt was all they had but I really loved it! They had so many different flavors and none of them were too sweet and never had anything artificial. I would get a huge bag of muesli, it looked like a packaged of flour, and eat muesli raw drowned in strawberry milk-yogurt (very danish!). That was usually my go-to snack at night too it was so good! Whenever I talk about Denmark I miss it so much, such a healthy place!

I’m not a big fan of cereal; I’ve always thought of it as an “airy” sort of food. Any sort of portion wouldn’t fill me up! I’m a much bigger fan of heartier breakfasts like oats, or eggs, or toast.

I love the tea, by the way! Bigelow Vanilla Chai smells heavenly… 😀

    Have a great day!

I eat 6-7 times a day…so even after a big breakfast, I still have a big midmorning snack. You could do something like that, you’re so busy, you need that energy.
Yogurt in cereal is great. Add bananas and nut butters and stuff and that is great. I like raisins in cereal bowls too.

Cereal never really fills me up either, especially light ones like puffed whole grains or Kashi. Ezekiel cereal is pretty much the only one I eat now (have you tried this? It’s like Grape Nuts [I think] without all of the fortification) and with half of a banana, raisins, pistachios and soy milk I’m still starving right after eating it!

I have a question! When you go to hot yoga classes…do you slip on the mat? I go to a Vinyasa class and the room is kept around 80-85 and I slip and slide all over the place. Someone recommended a product called Yogitoes, but it seems a bit pricey (on top of my already pricey yoga class). Any suggestions from anyone…or am I the only one with sweaty feet? 🙁

You must get a Yogitoes!! I got one a few months after starting yoga and it’s totally non slip. I couldn’t do hot yoga without it! I do have one in my OpenSky store if you want to see more about it. No pressure to buy though!

One breakfast I will not do because it never fills me up is a smoothie. I know, I know. Everyone has amazing concoctions, but I cannot get behind that! Anyway, have a faaab Tuesday!

That’s funny – as I went for my walk today, I was having a major craving for cold cereal. It must be a sign of warm weather! I usually top mine with raw walnuts or cashews to get some filling protein and fat into a carb-loaded breakfast. I like nut butters on cereal too, but as you’ve mentioned, they tend to sink…but more to search for while eating!
