Wedding Bells

Congratulations to Whitney and Jason, a.k.a. Whizzle and Jeeson!

IMG_0269 (480x640)

Matty + Snake ready for the ceremony

IMG_3784 (640x427)

Whitney was gorgeous and looked just like a movie star!

IMG_0266 (480x640)

We realized during the ceremony that we have been married for 2.6 years!! Here’s our wedding video in case you missed it when it first aired: K + M Get Married.

IMG_0260 (640x480) (2)

After the ceremony we had the hardest time hailing a cab!!! It was freezing, raining and windy and no cabs seemed to want to pick us up. My poor frozen feet! But we eventually found one and went to the reception site downtown. We arrived a half hour early, so the gentlemen headed to a bar – conveniently a microbrewery – for a drink.

IMG_3788 (640x427)

I was starving and had a sip of the amber ale – it was pretty tasty!

IMG_3787 (640x427) (2)

Onward to celebrate!

IMG_3813 (640x427)

IMG_3819 (427x640)

The reception was gorgeous and began with a beautiful appetizer spread of veggies, pita chips and breadsticks with hummus, olive spread, eggplant dip, cheeses, dried fruits, pistachios.

IMG_3790 (427x640) IMG_3796 (640x427) IMG_3789 (640x427) IMG_3792 (640x427) IMG_3794 (640x427) (2) IMG_3795 (640x427) IMG_3797 (640x427) (2) IMG_3793 (640x427) (2) IMG_3803 (640x427) (2)

I piled my plate with veggies + hummus and tastes of breadstick, apricot and cheese

IMG_3811 (640x427) (2)

Enjoyed some passed apps

IMG_3812 (640x427) IMG_3822 (640x427)

I could have EASILY eaten 5 more plates but I held off because I knew dinner was coming up soon. After a while my hunger did go away. The 20 minute rule is so true!

My beverage of choice was club soda + lime. I’ve learned how easy it is to mindlessly drink at events where alcohol is provided and these days I’m pretty happy with just one – or maybe two – drinks.

IMG_3832 (427x640)

IMG_3834 (640x427)

At 7 we made our way into the ballroom, which was stunning!

IMG_3840 (640x427)

IMG_3853 (640x427)

IMG_3854 (640x427)

IMG_3841 (427x640)

J + W danced their first!

IMG_3855 (640x427) IMG_3860 (427x640) IMG_3872 (427x640) IMG_3874 (640x427)

Toasts were given and champagne was passed. It was delicious, so I drank my glass 🙂

IMG_3883 (640x427)

My groom was wearing his full wedding ensemble from our own big day

IMG_3801 (427x640)

Including the cuff links I gave him!

IMG_3885 (640x427)

After the toasts, dinner was served. They had 3 buffet stations of amazing foods. The first was four different pastas, the second bite-sized gourmet treats and the third vegetables, salmon + prime rib.

IMG_3888 (640x427)

The staff served us the food, so it was a bit hard to get the right portion. We ended up with plates piled high! There was a lot of sharing and tasting. It made seem like I ate a ton tonight, but I don’t really feel like I did.

IMG_3896 (640x427)

I didn’t finish this – like I said we did lots of tasting – but I made a substantial dent!

IMG_3897 (640x427)

With dinner I sipped on a bit of red

IMG_3900 (640x427)

Dancing consumed a good portion of the evening – the band was fabulous!!!

We finally got a photo with the bride and groom! Whit + Jason are both Davidson classmates. Whizzle lived across the hall from me freshman year and we had such fun doing crazy things. Jeeson ("Jeeson" is Jason pronounced in a long island accent 🙂 ) lived next to Matt sophomore year!

IMG_3919 (640x427)

[I had the hardest time taking photos tonight because the room was so dark!! We couldn’t get any to turn out, especially the people. I have a new respect for wedding photographers!]

 IMG_3925 (640x427)

After a while a plate of raspberry jam cookies was set down in front of us!!

IMG_3909 (640x427)

I had two 🙂

IMG_3910 (640x427)

And then all of these treats started coming out of the woodwork!!!

IMG_3936 (640x427)

I didn’t eat all of these – I had a taste of each and then passed them on to Snake + Matt to each try. So we split them all at least 3 ways. But it was fun to taste so much variety!

IMG_3938 (640x427)  IMG_3947 (640x427)IMG_3943 (640x427) IMG_3941 (640x427)IMG_3945 (640x427)

Then it was cake time!!!

IMG_3846 (640x427)

IMG_3849 (427x640)

IMG_3969 (640x427)

IMG_3970 (640x427)

IMG_3977 (640x427)

IMG_3986 (640x427)

Cake on the plate. Plus 3 more bite-sized desserts! I didn’t quite finish this all (more sharing!!) but it was delish.

IMG_3996 (640x427)

We ended the night with an hour of dancing (they played "I Got A Feelin’!!!") and then a horrid walk back to the hotel in tired heels and horizontal rain.

So excited that 1) I’m sober and 2) I’m not stuffed. It will make for a fun morning!

Goodnight love birds
