Waves Await

The weather is unpredictable today, so I need to make hay waves while the sun shines!

2012-05-29 12.38.57

We spent the morning walking/reading on the beach and came in for a fun lunch. There are so few people here today compared to Saturday when you couldn’t walk 3 feet without bumping into someone!

2012-05-29 11.53.56

We just said farewell to Larbs + Matt. Sad we only have 1.5 days left!

2012-05-29 11.54.06

I actually felt pretty sickly later this morning. Those donuts were just too much. This lunch helped me feel better – I tried to focus on protein from shrimp, hummus and cheese and produce to balance out breakfast.

Lunch looks so refreshing for a hot day at the beach! I have some cold shrimp for dinner and just bought a watermelon for the boys after school…it’s a ‘scorcher’ here in Southern Ontario today! Storms are brewing all around but we have had nothing but heat and sunshine! Unfortunately, I am in the kitchen baking cookies and bread as we have run out! Whew! I need a tall glass of water with lemon!

I am so sorry for you that the donuts made you feel sick, once I was so hungry and working very late in the office, the only food left were 3 donuts from a party, I ate them, and next day had to take a sick day, my stomach was killimg me! Well, at least they tasted good! 🙂

I think I would feel the same way too! Errr not to be a party pooper for you guys, but I once heard it said very vividly: “donuts are basically grease sponges”. haha! I just had to throw that out there 😛 But once in a great while they can taste pretty good!

LOVE the first picture! You should definitely frame and hang that up at home, maybe in the nursery? It’s always nice to have the beach, or at least a small portion of the beach to yourself. Enjoy your remaining time.

All that sugar at breakfast (the fruit and donuts) would have left me queasy too! I hope you get good weather for the rest of your trip. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for dinner tonight. You guys have been coming up with some great meals!

Sometimes it’s nice to stay on vaca past the normal crowds for that “down/relax to the max” time. The watermelon in your photo is such a beautiful sweet red…I feel like I can taste it! Enjoy the next 1.5 days 🙂

Sorry you’re not feeling so hot…the heat and humidity and lots of commotion were unsettling to me (some days extremely so) when I was pregnant and I could go from a-okay to super nauseous on a dime. Feel better, Kath!

The donuts would have probably made me feel weak & tired from the sugar–that is how sugar usually affects me. Almost everytime I have something sugar-laden, I feel weak & tired.

love love love that pic of your belly and the beach!!! You know I never thought to leave this here but I did the research for a pregnancy cooking and nutrition for dummies book! The author is a well known dietitian and friend named Tara Gidus, spokes person for the former ADA (can’t ever remember the exact NEW name) and team dietitian for the Orlando Magic. It is an awesome book with great recipes… although I might be a little biased 🙂
