Wag Your Tail

image

Hey hey from the doctor’s! Appointment went well. We listened to the heartbeat (thump thump bump bump!), felt a few movements, confirmed that my uterus is in fact growing up and out, asked a few questions and stepped on the scale. [Weight gain is right on track – yay.] My Recipage shirt is my new fav now that I’ve grown into it a bit!

Can’t go to yoga with an empty stomach (excluding the baby of course 😉 )

Plain yogurt, Oh’s, almond butter mash

Snack-2Blog

Yoga was great. Lots of stretching tonight (and less squats!). So much talk about tails… “Tuck your tail…push your tail to the ceiling.” Funny to think of us with tails. And babies inside!

I felt the baby move a handful of times during the class. It’s starting to feel a little less like a light punch/kick and more like he’s moooooving in there. Movements that you’d expect a newborn to make. I wonder what he looks like!?

Dinner compliments of Matt, the Tuesday Chef

IMG_9193-2Blog

It was cooking when I got home at 7

IMG_9191-2Blog

On the menu was a Pecan-Crusted Trout that I bought prepared at Whole Foods today. It was pretty awesome and worth the small premium to get ready-made. Matt pan-fried it in butter + oil to get a perfect crust –

IMG_9199-3Blog

The baked red potatoes were awesome! Baked for 45 minutes at 400* and rubbed in olive oil, salt and rosemary. Topped with plain yogurt + ketchup!

IMG_9197-2Blog

And leftover eggplant with goat cheese

IMG_9196-3Blog

Greens because Matt said the plate looked too bland!

We just watched the second-to-last episode of LOST. Finale…soon!!! I might shed a tear.

Goodnight!

I am so happy and jealous for the people that can workout after they ate, if I eat anything, even a snack 2 hours before I workout its like I have steel in my stomach so uncomfortable!! I like your shirt, it is very cute, and I am very happy that the appointment went well and you and the baby are fine!

The Pecan-Crusted Trout sounds great…I bet it seared up beautifully in the butter. My uncle used to trout fish where I grew up in Minnesota and I used to eat my fair share! Haven’t had trout in about…20 years though. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I’ve thought about it, but when my weight is under control, they seem to be too. I don’t think i’d go through the pain and expense of surgery. But it sure would be nice if I could just snap my fingers..

So I had a breast reduction and it is a major surgery. Lots of pain and recovery time with major scarring. But when your chest is absolutely impeding most aspects of your life and well-being…well then it is time to do something about it. I haven’t had a baby yet but my doctor told me that I probably won’t be able to breast feed. Some people are able to, though. It was worth it when I did it, it has changed my life.

One of my yoga teachers gives the BEST prompt for the tucking of the tailbone – ELVIS ASANA! I’ve also heard it referred to as ‘zipping up’ the front of the pelvis like you zip up your pants. It’s crazy how changing the orientation of your pelvis can have such strong ripple effects through the rest of your body, isn’t it!? I can’t imagine the feeling of having a baby moving around in there during yoga. So cool!

random question kath: i often see recipes calling to add both butter and olive oil in pan at same time, do you know why? do they work differently? or is the butter just for flavor? i’m trying to watch my fats (and i also keep kosher, so putting dairy ie.butter in with meat is a no-no, although ok with fish) so just wondering what they adds to the dish?

    • KathEats says

      April 18, 2012 at 4:34 pm

It’s to raise the smoke point of the butter (which burns fast) while keeping that buttery flavor. So you can just use the oil if you don’t care too much about butter!

      Hey Jen,

It’s from 5:30 – 6:45. We start with 15-20 minutes of “how are you feeling this week” where our instructor goes around and gives advice (she is also a doula) and things. Then we do 45 minutes of yoga and then end with 10 minutes of “rest” at the end. Love it! It’s at the big gym in town so there’s no trouble finding moms.
