Victory!

It’s a gray but cozy day here in Cville. A perfect morning for fall treats: hot oats and hot coffee!

A little Ramen bowl action

IMG_1150 (640x427)

Today’s oat mix featured:

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water (plus more water)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 date, chopped
  • [Missing banana 🙁 ]
  • A mystery peanut butter to be debuted this week!!!
  • Galaxy Granola Maple Quinoa flavor that arrived on my doorstep just as I was about to make some homemade granola. Thanks Galaxy!

Coffee from the Brew Ridge festival – it’s amazing!

NEW to my HOUSE and my SHOP!!

Perhaps my FAV decorating item ever to don the OpenSky steps – Victory Garden posters!

The KERF Kitchen loves them 🙂

IMG_8680

These posters are designed by Joe in Brooklyn, NY as part of his art campaign called “Victory Garden of Tomorrow.” The campaign encourages local food gardens, less waste, more DIY, bike riding, and even encouraging chicken raising at home. I absolutely love the design, but even more, the messages.

Plus I found this other one that I think I’m going to order myself for another space – my favorite yet!

I caught this article a while back and think that this is a super hot/super interesting debate right now and (my own views aside) I am glad to see that the organic/local food movements are sites of lively debate. There is a lot of very high quality produce that is neither certified organic, nor local, but there are good and justifiable reasons for participating in any one of those markets. Maybe it really comes down to prioritizing your ethics…

Posters are super awesome. We are going to be moving soon, abd I think I will need those for the new place……

I am so spoiled about banana in my oatmeal. If I don’t have bananas (which is VERY rare), I don’t even bother with making oats.

    Kath,

Speaking of bowls, I just ordered the two Buddah Bowls and am looking forward to receiving them in a couple of weeks. However, I was wondering if the KERF bowls are available any where or will they ever be available again? Love the look of them! Thanks!

But no one has bought anything from that shop in decades except for me 🙂

The blog is looking really great and fresh, Kath. What a welcoming kitchen you have. I just wanted to say I had an extra kerfy day yesterday– First, I had chia seeds oats they were so awesome– really “fluffy” as you said! Then I made a tempeh stir fry which you inspired. 🙂
I never had maple quinoa galaxy granola, but I love the vanilla and quinoa so sounds great to me.
    Happy Tuesday.

These past few chilly days have been so perfect for hot oats!

I love those posters. Since starting “Omnivore’s Dilemma”, I’ve been trying so hard to buy local!

Love those posters–they’re all over the hallways and classrooms of the nutrition building. They make for good distractions during class:)

That oatmeal bowls of yours reminds me a little of the Leaning Tower of Pisa 😀 But in a yummier way!
