Two Nuts and a Jam

Good morning!~

Let me tell you, it feels SO good to wake up after a night of hard work and have the pressure off. That is my goal in life – to take the pressure off by doing things either in advance or when I don’t expect to do them to make my future self happy 🙂

IMG_5418 (640x427)

Couldn’t wait for more Nuttzo oats on this cozy day.

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water, pinch salt
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Vanilla + cinnamon + 1/3 cup Daisy cottage cheese stirred in at end
  • Tsp duo of nut butters: Nuttzo + Costco
  • Tsp Fortnum and Mason raspberry jam

IMG_5429 (640x427)

GROG was good!!

IMG_5420 (640x427)

IMG_5413 (640x427)

I’m off to finish my very last 2 test question chapters and then to the Y to meet Victoria for my new favorite workout: Sculpt!

Oh yeah, and I have to PACK FOR MONTANA!!! I cannot believe I am traveling yet again and this time to a place where I have never been! We are going to Dillon, Montana to the Great Harvest headquarters this weekend for our final day of interview + discovery on Monday. This is the final step to find out if we are approved for a franchise in Charlottesville, VA!

Here’s our itinerary:

  • Friday: Fly to Bozeman, rent a car, explore a little (Matt scouted out the beer spots months ago), dinner with a college friend
  • Saturday: Drive 2 hours to Yellowstone!! Explore. Hike?? Drive many more hours through the park. The place is apparently pretty desolate this time of year, so I’m hoping we find bathrooms, gas and food. Everything is unknown! We’ll spend the night in West Yellowstone.
  • Sunday: Drive about 4 hours to Dillon where GH is. Find food. Spend the night.
  • Monday: Great Harvest Discovery Day! 8-5PM. Drive back to Bozeman ~2 hours that night. Find food.
  • Tuesday: Early AM flight at 8:30.

LOTS of driving (at least it’s supposed to be some of the most scenic driving in the country!)

Lots of exploring.

Lots of unknown.

Can you tell I’m nervous?!! At least the weather is looking on the warm side!

Adding packing to my to-do list today…

Anyway, it’s a small town but if things are still open you should find everything you need. Enjoy Yellowstone, it’s beautiful! I need to take the husband…

Welcome to Big Sky country! I always get excited for people to discover our neck of the woods. I know you are the ultimate planner, so this probably goes without saying, but the weather here in the fall can vary dramatically–warm and sunny one minute snowing the next. Also, if you can swing it, you’ll basically be driving past one of our real gems: http://www.chicohotsprings.com. The hot springs are absolutely luxurious and the food is amazing–they grow fresh produce year round in a green house heated by the geothermic hot springs! How’s that for local flavor!

I was in yellowstone a couple weeks ago, and while we only drove the se 1/4 of the loop, there really wasn’t anything to eat. So I’d take snacks, since you never know how long/where you’ll stop for photos and such. Also, I’m sure you’ve looked into this, but a section of the main loop was close for construction, which is why we couldn’t drive all the way around. Have fun, it’s gorgeous!

Best restaurant that I went to in Bozeman (which I still tell people about all the time) was the Naked Noodle. Amazing, quirky make-your-own pasta place that had super fun sauces (like cilanto pesto and green thai chile, along with the usual marinara and mac’n’cheese) and you could add tons of veggies and different meats or tofu to bulk up the dishes! and totally afforable! comes highly recommended!

    Tay,
I add them at the beginning. They don’t gel like they would in a liquid just sitting there, but they do change the consistency somehow. Makes it smoother maybe?

    Tammy,

Sounds like you have some good advise for Bozeman. Definitely recommend Montana Aleworks, as well as John Bozeman’s Bistro, McKenzie River Pizza, etc. Plonk wine Bar is great too. Just walk down one side of Mains Street and down the other for all the cool shops. Too bad a fire took out two great places. The Food Co-op is great as well.
In Yellowstone Park be sure to go in Old Faithful Inn just to see the cool historic center. There’s not much in West Yellowstone or Dillon.
Too bad you’re not coming to Billings – we have four great microbreweries here: Carter’s, Angry Hanks, Yellowstone Brewing Co., and Montana Brew Pub.
This weekend the weather should be a little better.
Email me if you need anymore recommends.

Oooh- Mount Washburn is a great longer hike and Fairy Falls for an excellent short hike! I highly recommend both! Have fun!
