If Tomorrow Ever Comes

I took the photos of tonight’s meals so long ago that it feels like yesterday!!

Before I left this morning I packed up snacks + dinner.

IMG_5402 (640x427)

My test was at 2PM and went well. I’m not as sure how I did on this test, but I’m pretty sure it’s somewhere between an 80 and a 100. Could be either!! But I think closer to the higher end [I hope!]

At 3:30 I was hungry again. My EarthFare lunch wasn’t nearly as filling as usual – probably because it was a lot less expensive and a sign less volume and calories!

I found this Rachel’s Cottage Cheese at Harris Teeter this week and decided to give them a try. Totally impressed. Not too high in sugar either and loaded with protein. Loved the subtle pear chunks. Only con: $$$ 🙁 They even have a cucumber dill flavor!

IMG_5396 (640x427)

I’m having one of those insatiable hunger kinda days. I was starving again not 1.5 hours later for a super early MNT class dinner.

IMG_5400 (640x427)

I packed a Turkey, Brie and Raspberry Preserves sandwich on GH Honey Wheat

IMG_5391 (640x427)

Loved that flavor combo!

IMG_5392 (640x427)

And a simple salad with balsamic (drizzled it at 11AM and lettuce was still fine at 5PM) with leftover microwaved cinnamon sweet potato

IMG_5393 (640x427)

IMG_5394 (640x427)

Lastly, a Chocolate Peppy-mint Glo-bar for an evening snack! I ended up eating this with a cup of tea once I got home, although I saved half for tomorrow because I dug into the dark chocolate to have with it! Likely my favorite Glo-bar yet!

Dinner + snacks all packed up this AM with an ice pack –

We got out of class a bit early so I decided to tackle a project.

For my Nutrition Education class we have the assignment this semester to write potential test questions each week from our textbook chapters. There are many reasons why this process has been super painful. We have to first read the chapters, process them, understand the material and THEN write the questions. Since there are no class lectures for this class, it’s all self taught. We have to do not one, but two chapters each week, and did I mention this is done as group work which requires coordinating with 3 other group members via email each week and making sure we don’t overlap any question topics, which requires re-writing questions at the last minute.

Needless to say this ongoing assignment has been the hell of this semester 👿

So the good news is that I spent a few hours tonight working on questions, and I am now ahead and just finished my second-to-last set of multiple choice and just have 2 chapters to go and they are essay questions so it’s all downhill. Woo. Hoo.

[/Vent]

So tired from thinking too hard. Off to bed.

OH – before I forget!!! Winner of the San Marco Coffee gift certificate is……

mmmmmmmm coffee!! I don’t know how you can ever really choose from that many delicious flavors!! Almond Joy sounds wonderful as does Chocolate Raspberry or Pumpkin Spice, but i love plain dark coffee too, oh man.

Kelly, sent me an email!!

Nite!

The good news is that assignments like that which require you to go over the material multiple times help you to really and truly learn the material. You’re much less likely to forget info learned this way than you are stuff that a lecturer tells you. Woohoo pedagogy!

On a less nerdy note, that Glo Bar flavor sounds amazing.

I tried one of those Rachel’s cottage cheeses (I think it was blueberry) a while ago and honestly gagged on the taste! For whatever reason, I just could NOT handle the odd flavor that the fruit added. Your flavor sounds a lot better though, so I’d be willing to give it another try if I saw that one in stores. 🙂

Aww, sorry to hear about the stressful class. It always seems like there is at least ONE class every semester that makes you want to pull your hair out, but I know you’ll end up doing well.

Ug. sorry your semester is so aggrevating! My Micro class is sort of like that! It’s all taught online, but we have a lab every Wed. night…and everytime I go, she has nothing for us to do! We just sit there! She hasn’t even graded our work or tests from the first week, ARG. Anywho, hope tomorrow is a good day for ya 🙂

I’m so impressed with your packing organization. Since I work from home, I usually have my kitchen available at every meal. This weekend though I can see I’m going to have to pack lunch and dinner. I better start planning…

Can I ask what you pack your food in? It must be a nice big container to fit all that food and the ice pack? Thanks!

Re: your vent … I’m sorry it’s a frustrating process for you ( esp. the group coordination part!), but it sounds like a GREAT way to learn and truly understand the material. From my experience as a TA in grad school, I’ve always contended that one of the best ways to learn something is to teach it to someone else. Writing test questions is along those same lines. Hang in there!!

    Daria + Wendy ,
No! I haven’t learned a thing! I would do much better with lectures + discussion. This project just forces me to do busy work and I don’t retain any of it because I am more focused on getting the task done.

    Em,
No, I don’t. Wish I could afford to all the time. I buy organic from the dirty dozen whenever it’s on sale – apples, grapes, etc., and I always buy organic milk and meat. I usually buy organic baby spinach because that’s just how it comes at my store.

    Emily,
I have a Built NY lunchbox that is roomy and stretchy.
