There and back again from yet another study session. Biochem studying went well, and I feel pretty good about it. In a way, final exams are easier than the original tests because they are much more broad. Most of my professors say they test us to challenge us and stretch our brains on the semester tests and the final is more a recap of topics. Plus, you’ve already learned the material once! It’s just refreshing rather than learning.
While at the coffee shop I got an iced decaf coffee with a shot of sugar-free vanilla and a splash of half and half. I didn’t really want it at all, but I felt I needed to buy something for being there and didn’t want plain water (esp. since I had a water bottle with me!) But I ended up drinking all of it, and it did taste good.
I asked the Queen Of Nail Polish if she would let me paint my toes with one of her colors since I decided I don’t have the time or money for a pedicure before my beach wedding weekend. She provided a wonderful selection of my request: coral-y pinks.
I decided on Opi’s “Lunch at the Delhi” – a bolder pink than my usual corals 🙂
Would you believe that I haven’t painted my own toenails since ….middle school maybe???! Mostly because I just don’t own any nail polish! I usually get a few pedicures each summer and my toes are hidden and boring all winter!
It was quite fun though, and I love the color. (My feet are gross!)
Dinner tonight was Plain Jane Spaghetti with fancy Napa Valley Bistro sauce!
We cooked up some whole wheat spaghetti, sautéed a pint of mushrooms and half a zucchini in some olive oil and heated last night’s sauce in a saucepan (how appropriate!).
Garnished with fresh oregano and Kelsey’s goat cheese –
There was indeed spaghetti underneath!
After another hour of studying, my brain had used up its glucose and was ready for more in the form of the perfect evening snack: a small bowl of cereal with milk.
I had some Uncle Sam’s with TJ’s High Fiber worms mixed in in soy milk .
I read the Uncle Sam’s box while munching and was quite impressed with the stats on this cereal. Whole grains, flax, barely any sugar, low sodium, no preservatives. High fiber and protein, naturally. I like it!
I had to go back for just a taste of my Mix My Granola to finish off the milk :) I almost always use granola as a topping because of it’s energy density, but gosh is it good in milk!!

Love the choice of polish Kath! I can’t believe you don’t own ANY! Kelsey needs to take you shopping for polish sometime 😉
I just love the classic whole wheat spaghetti and sauce. I like how you added in your own veggies to amp up the nutrition!
Sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you tomorrow. Good luck on the exam!
Good luck on your test tomorrow Kath! I love Mix My Granola as a gift idea, it’s both affordable and unique.
Cute toes! Good luck on your test tomorrow 🙂

That’s when granola is most dangerous for me – when I eat it with milk…it’s sooooo good that way!!
Pretty toes! I rarely paint mine either! I <3 OPI polish, though!
I usually have cereal/granola dry, until about a month ago my boyfriend served me a bowl of his homemade granola with soymilk. Yeah. I went back for seconds.
I love Plain Jane Spaghetti! Great polish pick!

How very Kelsey of you to post your nail polish choice!! Love it!
I actually have gotten that toenail polish color before and you’re right- it’s very pretty!
The cheese on that pasta looks like it makes the dish. Yummm.
That is one busy schedule chicka! Isn’t it so great that its the time of year where you need your toenails painted? Hope your day doesn’t wear you down!
So smart amping up the veggies in the sauce to counter-act the pasta. I’m so bad about going heavy on the noodles…gotta throw in zucchini next time I make pasta 🙂
I am VERY excited about the NP post!! Excellent colour choice!!

I totally want to check that cereal out now. And dang, you have a packed schedule tomorrow. Good luck on your exams!
i love nail polish names- they’re just so clever! rest up for tomorrow!
My toes are a similar colour right now! I love bright pinky toes for summer 🙂
The spaghetti goat cheese dish looks SO good.

I think I would rather be naked on my blog than show naked toenails. It’s just a pet peeve of my to have color free toes! Yours are lovely…and you call yourself a runner 😉
Dinner looks fabulous as usual! I think I got tired just reading all about your day tomorrow – good luck with all the exams and studying!
Yum your dinner looks delicious and your toes look great. I like to give myself pedicures year round even if no one can see my feet. Check out this article on manicures. Go to-
wow 2 exams tomorrow, you’ll be busy but I am sure all the studying paid off!
Love that nail polish color!
Granola in milk is an addiction of mine.

Cereal is a controversial health food–the high heat extrusion processing they use on it kills all the beneficial phytochemicals and vitamins found in the grains (and have to be fortified back into it!). Basically you’re getting empty carbs/harsh colon-eroding bran fiber from the stuff, although it’s certainly comfort food. 🙂
I’m a nutrition junkie, too, and enjoyed reading your success story! You’ve certainly found what works for you. Inspiring!
Good luck with your exams Kath!!
spaghetti is my favorite food!!
That color looks so pretty!
Good luck with your exams, I’m sure you’ll do great after all that studying.
i do the same with my nails, too – usually bare naked in the winter, but I do like fun colors in the summer!
Love OPI colors!! It’s the only nail polish that isn’t all streaky! Good luck today!!
I don’t own any nail polishes either! It’s too much of a pain to keep up with and I relized nails are prettier plain anyways. 🙂
You have a crazy busy schedule today! Good luck with your exams. You will do awesome!
Kath thank you for being so inspiring! I too am headed into Finals week and the stress has me craving ‘comfort’ food. Reading about your great study habits and great eating habits is so inspiring and makes me want to step it up!
thanks for the info on uncle sam’s, i will have to look for some. the spaghetti photos look good!
