Tower Of Tastes

It’s been weird being in the office so early – I forgot what it was like! Wish you could have joined me for this morning’s appointments. They were both very interesting and enjoyable to listen to.

I packed lunch today of a little of everything –

IMG_8852 (1024x768)

I started with my produce – leftover kale + tomato salad (I took some out of the bowl last night before Matt got to it!) and watermelon cubes

IMG_8853 (1024x768)

My protein source was an egg I hardboiled last night = simple, cheap + easy to pack.

IMG_8854 (1024x768)

The delicious part of lunch was a yogurt mixture of the last of a big container of Oikos (probably only about 1/3 a cup in there) plus 1/4 cup AgavePlus granola, a little me&goji and some chia seeds

IMG_8856 (1024x768)

IMG_8857 (1024x768)

And finally dessert – a piece of Great Harvest banana chocolate chip muffin. I’m pretty sure this guy was whole grain (probably not low-fat, but probably made with canola) so it’s likely the healthiest muffin you can buy in town 🙂

IMG_8858 (1024x768)

Since I came in early, I just have a few hours of work and then am headed back out. I’m planning to go running, but I hear there’s rain in the forecast 🙁 We’ll see! I’ve certainly got the energy craving.

KERF On True/Slant!

Eat, blog, repeat: Meet the woman who started it all

and over at Cait’s Plate: A Very KathEats Morning

Peace out.

    Hey Kath,

I know you’ve been talking a lot about your food budget lately, and one of the financial blogs I read, Get Rich Slowly (http://www.getrichslowly.org/blog/) had a post today about food budgeting that might be helpful!

He linked to this article PACK with info: http://nchstd.documents.s3.amazonaws.com/More%20Month%20than%20Money%20PDF.pdf

I’ve only gotten a chance to skim it but so far so amazing! All real food on a budget. Kinda perfect!

    Enjoy!

This message is my second one here…. I’ve just discover (last week) your blog and I’m now addict 🙂 It’s so inspiring for me to read your blog, you’re an extraordinary healthy example for everybody, including myself obviously! I’m from Quebec (that why my English isn’t so good) and I dream from a long time to become dietetician….but I’ve done 6 years at University then to become a career counselor… Even if I’ll turn 29 years old next years, I think I’ll try to register at this program…

Because of you, I now believe I can get exercices everyday and have fun! I’ve try this last week, and I’m so proud of me!

I won’t tell you all my story, but I wanted to thanks you for your example 🙂

I’m not trying to be rude or offensive but I agree that you should have mentioned “Eat Like Me.” Otherwise, you’re taking credit for something you didn’t do. Even though you were the first independent food blog, you weren’t the first food blog (which is what the article states).

Great article. I always wondered who was the first food blogger and I thought it was yours, although I feel as if I get the sense from other blogs that they were the “starters”. That is one thing that bothers me about the blog world, I feel as if there are so many people who take credit for things they so called started, in this case you deserve the credit and never harp about it.
I think your blog is my favorite because you not only inspired may others to change their eating habits or document their healthy ways but your photography is amazing and your writing style is very addicting. Eat LIke me was the first food blog I ever read but I never became attached to it like I have become with yours. I am glad you have finally been given the credit as the one who started it all. Congratulations.

I know that I’m going to get in trouble for saying this, but I have to agree with those who questioned the accuracy of being the “first food blogger”. I guess you mean Cristin works for “Self” magazine, so that doesn’t allow her the title of the first independent food blogger, but didn’t Roni start an independent food blog at a site called “weightwatchen”? Please know I’m not trying to start a huge argument, just asking a question.

    Helen + Becci ,
LOVE my lunch bag. I got it in a boutique, but you can get them on Amazon. Built NY Gourmet Getaway. It holds a TON of stuff because it stretches and then folds flat when empty. Machine washable too. And the longest I’ve ever owned a lunchbox.

    Katherine,
    I think so.

    Lauren ,
I do like it better than Fage. It’s smoothier. Chobani’s a tough call, but it’s not available everywhere – I like their flavors. Trader Joe’s is good too. It’s really a toss up on flavor, but I do love that Oikos is organic too.
