Slow Food

I’m up early this morning to get on the road at 7:15 for an 8AM appointment. I can’t remember the last time I went from bed –> shower without a workout or breakfast or lounging in between!

Early mornings make me want oatmeal –

IMG_8851 (1024x768)

Today’s isn’t just any oatmeal, though, it’s MojaMix!

IMG_8843 (1024x768)

The custom cereals are really taking off and I was excited to get to make a rockin’ oatmeal mix with all the toppings already included. Perhaps not the most cost effective way to eat oatmeal, but certainly fun and convenient.

IMG_8844 (1024x768)

IMG_8845 (1024x768)

IMG_8846 (1024x768)

My bowl contained half a cup of Mojamix, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 banana, pinch salt. Plus Ginger Raspberry Jam and Barney Butter toppings.

Loved the chunks of coconut, date and peanuts in this bowl!

IMG_8849 (1024x768)

One delicious bowl of oats!! I have become such a slow eater! After taking the time to make the oats and then eating them, I am running super late. I used to be a shoveler – eating fast because it felt good to take bite after bite – but I have learned over time to savor each bite so that now eating fast is not only physically hard, but mentally as well.

Win Your Own!

MojaMix has donated a custom mix to a lucky KERF reader. Leave a comment with a few mix-ins of choice from the MojaMix site to enter. I’ll choose a winner at dinner tonight.

i really wish i could eat slower! work (and often not having time to eat any way BUT fast . . .) has trained me to be such a fast eater and i know i would enjoy meals more if i could take my time.

yesterday i brought a delicious lunch of gazpacho, shrimp, peach, and kashi crackers for lunch. i ate frantic bites between getting paged, then had to leave for clinic and finished it in the car. i know it would have been so much more satisfying to eat it at a leisurely pace. someday!

All right, I think I’m ready to jump on the chia seed train. I hadn’t really looked into it, other than seeing everyone using them, but reading on the MojaMix site that they stabilize blood sugar? My husband’s a diabetic, so now I think I’ll really have to try them for us!

    Also, goldenberries look intriguing!

Given that’s it’s finally starting to feel like summer here in NY, I think I would try a tropical mix – mango, banana chips, macadamia nuts, and chia seeds in the oatmeal base. And maybe some cacoa nibs, just for fun =).

I like to keep my oats simple, the more stuff I add I find that I get less of the hearty oaty taste. I think I would just do some coconut and almonds, then a big blob of almond butter on top!

I dont know if you have heard about this new garment called the BODY MAGIC, but it is phenomenal. When you put it on, you instantly drop 2-3 sizes w/out diet, pills, exercise, or surgery. I was skeptical of it when I 1st heard about it, but when I tried it I was blown away. I actually went down 2 sizes when I put it on and I have lost 4 inches just by wearing it. This might be something you want to try…Thanks
