Top Of The Charts

If I had to choose a VERY favorite breakfast – in terms of flavor, enjoyment, versatility…this would be it.

IMG_1910Blog

Trader Joe’s Sunflower Butter (my very favorite nut butter ever) with overnight oats and a Great Harvest bran muffin crumble (although that is tied with granola topping).

I actually prefer OIAJ made with overnight oats to hot oats. Something about the sticky cold oats works really well with the sticky nut butter.

IMG_1914Blog

This jar was just SMASHING and took me a good 25-30 minutes to savor.

IMG_1911Blog

Inside The Jar

  • 1/3 cup rolled oats, raw
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Pinch salt
  • Half banana
  • Sprinkle cinnamon
  • SUNFLOWER RESIDUE!!!

–> All in fridge overnight

This morning I added: some crumbled blueberry oat bran muffin top – YUM!!!

IMG_1906BlogIMG_1912Blog

On the side: Coffee + Choffy blend. I really like the choffy as a way to reduce the caffeine but still get nice cup of coffee. And it imparts a nice dark chocolatey flavor!

IMG_1919Blog-2IMG_1916Blog

Instead of biking into town today, I’m going to be flying!

I have grown to enjoy it a little more atop my oats, mixed with granola (like you wrote!!) but it’s a little too bitter for my taste. I was surprised, since I like eating sunflower seeds. The good thing about it was that it’s not as pricey.

I’ve never tried making OIAJ with overnight oats! I stick to hot oats because I like how the heat helps to melt the nut butter off the side of the jar. 😀

My Overnight oats are sitting in my refrigerator right now! I can’t wait to eat them in the morning!
Now I need to find some Sunflower butter. We do not have a Trader Joes here..but I may beable to find it at Fred Meyers, in their health food section.

Question: would omitting the chia seeds (I don’t use them) affect how the OIAJ comes out texture-wise? I think I’ve read that chia seeds absorb water, so I thought that might make a difference…

    Thanks!

You can absolutely make them without chia, but they do add to the textuer

I’ve never had sunflower butter before. I’m curious to see what it tastes like! 🙂
