Tilt-A-Whirl

Good morning from the first day of fall!! It’s 55* outside, crisp and shadowy. Absolutely love it! And I love that Virginia has the longest fall ever.

IMG_6111-2Blog

Although my alarm went off at 6:26 this morning, I pittered around for an HOUR before I left on my run. Reading emails, blogs, walking laps around my living room…

Finally, I went. I took a new route, which was fun, but felt twice as long as my usual route even though it wasn’t!

Breakfast-2Blog

It’s been a looong time since I had a Dough Boy Smoothie!!! Delicious texture through and through.

This hot new Salsabol is coming to OpenSky in 3 colors. Love the lime green – it matches my french press!!  And the curve – so sexy.

IMG_6110-2Blog

It reminds me of those teacup rides at the State Fair with the high backs. Tilt-a-whirl! Makes the smoothie all the more cozy : )

IMG_6117-2Blog

Blueberry Dough Boy

  • 1 big banana
  • 1 small handful blueberries
  • 1/3 cup raw rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Pinch salt
  • Sprinkle cinnamon

–> Into the fridge overnight in your blender. Do not blend yet.

–> Overnight

–> In the morning, add a splash more milk and blend away!

–> Top with crunchy granola and BARNEY BUTTER!!

IMG_6118-2Blog

Barney Butter – coming soon to OpenSky as well! Oh how I have missed it!

How is it fall already?? I actually had to think about the date when you said that, and then realized yes, it is the end of August. I also saw that Starbucks is having a vote and one city will get pumpkin spice lattes a week early. One of my fall favorites!!

I’m loving that the weather is starting to cool down a bit… that means less humidity in these parts. One more month until the equinox.

I actually love fall though. I think October has the best weather.

I agree – the humidity this summer was killer…but now I find 23 C too cool after getting used to the heat!

How much does Barney Butter cost ??- for instance, do you actually save much from ordering it online? (not that I can buy it in person here in my part of Canada…or if they even sell to Canada I don’t know)

I can’t wait for it to start feeling like fall here in Carolina Beach! I love warm weather but I am really looking forward to “fall foods”. I love Barney Butter! It is always delicious atop a nice bowl of oatmeal. My boyfriend is always commenting on how many different “peanut butters” I have in the pantry. I am always quick to point out that some of them aren’t even peanut butter! Some days I feel like Justin’s…or Barney’s…or Maranatha. But never ever do I feel like Peter Pan’s Honey Roasted which is his favorite and he has two jars. This post has also sparked my interest in trying a Dough Boy smoothie tomorrow. I never even thought that I liked oatmeal until pointed me in the direction of your blog and I broke down and tried your whipped banana oats and I am in love! Thank you for introducing me to my new favorite breakfast. And now I will end the longest comment ever.

It’s only August! I’m surprised so many people think it’s really the first day of fall 😉

I agree though – it has so cooled off in the mornings- today was the first morning I wanted a warm breakfast in a while!

Did you feel the earthquake this afternoon? We felt it up here in PA. Your post title “Tilt-A-Whirl” was very appropriate for today. 🙂 Hope you guys are fine down there.

    Kathy,

I have been a follower and recipe re-maker of yours for some time now. I was so excited when I moved to VA a couple months ago, hoping I could make it to C-ville! I find it very crazy that you titled your post Tilt-A-Whirl this morning, especially following the quake we just had. Hope everything is intact at your home and shop! I want to personally thank you for helping me adjust into “wifehood” and cooking my husband real, healthful foods! We just had your whole wheat yogurt pancakes this morning, but in waffle form! MMM!

I’m so excited for fall too…just wrote a post about how I can’t wait for our fall Sunday tradition of football!

And why is Barney Butter so darn good? Just seeing that pic of it makes my mouth water for it! 😉

It’s funny because fall always made me feel a little bummed out . . . it meant winter was next. And I hate winter. But we just moved to Florida from Pennsylvania in January, and now I am so excited for fall and winter! It’s a really odd feeling for the girl who has always been a summer girl. Now summer will be the season I dread instead of winter.

Hey Kath! Cute blue mug! I collect mugs, and I always adore you’re place settings. Any fave mugs that you can recommend?
