Tik Tok

I think the baby knows we jumped forward an hour because I was up at 6…or 7? And couldn’t go back to sleep.

IMG_7320Blog

After an hour of lying in bed, reading blogs, emails and baby apps, I got up to make a family pot of oatmeal, “gently whipped”

 this !

IMG_7321Blog

And a steaming carafe of French press – half caf, half decaf.

IMG_7319Blog

Oats went into a jar!

IMG_7331Blog

I made the oats with Holly’s Oatmeal, banana, half milk/water, chia seeds, pinch salt and cottage cheese stirred in at end. Since I was using a plastic jar, I let the whole pot cool for about 5 minutes to warm instead of hot and then portioned them in.

IMG_7328Blog

Some honey bunches on top and plenty of wild squirrel curious coconut on the bottom.

IMG_7332Blog

1.5 of these woke me up along with a fabulous new episode of House Hunters set in renovated homes in LA.

IMG_7325Blog

I am having a SERIOUS hormonal spring cleaning craving. I not only want to clean every square inch of this house, but I want to decorate, rearrange, declutter, sort, package and donate. This happens to me every spring [Home Neat Home went crazy last year!] and I’m excited when the urge hits!

Haha, so funny that you said that. I woke up this morning way earlier than I usually would to and had an intense craving to start cleaning. So up I got and cleaned the kitchen from floor to ceiling. Feeling accomplished already!

Your pot looks delicious! Made a “meal of oats” as my toddler calls them for the family this morning including the bonus of oatmeal stuck on the tip of Bean’s chin. LOVE it! Hope I can get motivated to get some Spring Cleaning done. Have a fantastic day!!!!!!!!

YUM, that looks good. I’ve been thinking about a french press and that one’s so pretty! I love green:) What do you think of it vs. a regular coffee maker? Any more difficult to deal with in the morning?

If you make coffee every morning, I’d go with a coffee maker. We have one we love, but I only make coffee once a week or so so I leave it tucked away. But the french press is more of a pain to make and clean, so I prefer a hands-free coffeemaker.

Good morning Kath, You got me thinking about whipping out our french press and drinking coffee on the back deck. Tempted. yesterday it was someone writing about cold pressed coffees outside, and today it’s the french press. I think these items symbolize Spring or something.

It’s funny that when spring rolls around I also always feel the need to declutter. I usually can’t get rid of anything (especially not my clothes) but last week I felt the urge to give away 2(!) boxes of clothes and household goods to charity. Definitely felt good afterwards 🙂

Have you tried Farm to Table oatmeal? I bought it on Open Sky and it is fabulous! I love the ancient grains one but the ultimate organic oatmeal is great too. It is a mix of steel cut with sliced almonds and other yummys. I think you would really like it. Oh, and the coconut wild squirrel is one of my absolute favs!

Kath, I was wondering what your thoughts are about caffeine during pregnancy. I’ve gotta admit, the thought of giving up coffee is one of the least attractive aspects of pregnancy to me!

I’m not Kath, but especially if you have no history of miscarriages, doctors say up to 250 mg of caffeine is usually safe, especially after the first trimester. I have had one cup of coffee a day for nearly my entire pregnancy. And when I was nauseous in the first trimester, a fizzy coca cola helped so much 🙂

I have little bits of caffeine here and there, but since decaf is so easily replaced, I’ve just been using that. But I’ve had a few mugs of regular throughout and agree with Jessica that 1 cup a day is said to be OK
