Things I’m Digging

And I don’t mean snow!!! That’s pretty much all melted given we’ve had a few days in the 60s : )

Smoothies with chia seeds. I’ve recently discovered how thick chia seeds make smoothies. This one was almost like pudding!!!

Foodblog (20 of 28)

Stella and Dot. My friend Ellen sells their jewelry and I have gathered quite the collection over the past few years. These were from Matt for Christmas!

Foodblog (1 of 1)-2 this !

The $9 lunch at Paradox, which includes soup, a salad and a delicious cookie! The Hot Toddy cookie is my fav with heath bits. I try to only eat 25% and bring the rest home, but sometimes that is hard!!

Foodblog (1 of 1)

Hot Yoga Cville. Can’t get enough!! Love Monica – aka DJ Bucks – and took Julie’s class this week and finally figured out the best way for me to get into crow pose. Vinyasa classes are obviously my fav : )

Foodblog (1 of 1)-4

These vegan brownies from Tea Bazaar. I’ve mentioned them before, but gah – so good. The texture is crumbly and crystallized. Normally I prefer super fudgey brownies, but these are so good in a new way!

Foodblog (1 of 1)-3

And finally, Garth Stevenson’s music is amazing!!!! I learned about him from DJ Bucks, and he is a famous double bassist with a cinematic style. Check out The Southern Sea -it’s my fav!

Garth

Do you grind up your chia seeds first for your smoothies? If not, I totally suggest trying it! I just grind them in the coffee grinder and keep a tupperware in the fridge to grab a TBSP as needed. Blend with liquid, let sit for 5-10 minutes, then finish making the smoothie. Sometimes I find the chia seeds can almost get a bit sharp and feel like they’re scratching my throat if I put them in my smoothie whole (especially if I add other seedy berries to the smoothie, which I often do) and this seems to knock that out! 🙂

I just put them in the Vitamix and they blend in well but ground chia could be good for so many recipes!

I mean, I guess I’m not technically stuck, but I can’t leave without the kids we just adopted ;).

How does your hot yoga charge for classes? We just had one open here in New York and it’s $30 a class! Is that the normal rate?
