The Next Big Thing

How did it go from a weather prediction of freezing rain to a gorgeous sun-soaked afternoon that warrants eating al fresco!?

BLOG-9911

I drove to the gym this morning and went to a Hatha Flow class. Yoga just feels right when it’s cloudy outside and yesterday’s class left me with an unscratched itch. My itch is STILL unscratched – but I have a few classes on my radar to go to in the next week 🙂 Or perhaps Dave Farmar can help me out! I did really enjoy the peace that today’s class brought though – I thank the lovely yoga chant music the instructor played!

I know I should have a clear mind during yoga, but I had juicing on the brain!

BLOG-9910

It was exactly what I wanted for lunch. I always think of juice as a breakfast item, but it was very fun to have with lunch!

BLOG-9903

Celery (a lot!), carrots, ginger, apple, lemon, kale. I think this is the last time I’m going to juice with kale. I would have had so much fun eating that kale as kale chips and it barely gave me a tablespoon of juice! I actually sent it through the juicer twice to try to get more out of it!!

BLOG-9885

Of course the moose was drooling vegetables today 🙂

BLOG-9900

Along with my juice – I fulfilled another craving – sardines!

BLOG-9901

I have not been remembering to eat one tin a week for nutrition!

BLOG-9905

Mashed into a slice of bread (along with mayo, dijon mustard, salt and pepper) and topped with sliced bell pepper, avocado, and cilantro!

The Next Big Thing!!

She’s got curves like no other..

BLOG-9922

Shines like a star..

BLOG-9923

Any guesses to the next big giveaway through OpenSky!?

BLOG-9919

You guessed right! In honor of our Great Harvest to be, we like it when people mix, knead and make dough, so we’re giving away a Kitchenaid Artisan 5-quart stand mixer! The same one I have and love.

The winner gets to chose her (or his) color! I’m partial to the KERF Apple Green!

Winner announced on Friday!

My Next Big Thing:

I am off to the dentist! My new selection had an opening today. (This could be fun or really awful …)

    Hello Kath –

Regarding your yoga “itch” – a few online yoga sites that I’d recommend for a super strong, lovely, sweaty vinyasa flow:

    Http://www.yogisanonymous.com and http://www.yogaglo.com

I’m currently living in Wales, no vinyasa yoga – these websites are wonderful & they keep me “honed”! Try Kathryn Budig & Dice Lida-Klein on YogaGlo and Krista Cahill and Ally Hamleton on Yogisanonymous. : )

Fab give away! and even more amazing sammie! just curious- the obsession with sardines: is it the Omega-3s or the Co-Q10 that you love? it seems like you make it just like a tuna salad, no? whenever i think of sardines i think of the whole fish in a can, like anchovies…

Anyway- as a dentist- I think it’s great that this was on your list of things to do–did you know that gum disease is correlated with pre-term birth, low birth weight, and heart disease? Flossing is the Best! hope your gummies are healthy!! (also just to be a stickler- if you don’t have insurance it’s better to go to the dds and pay for the cleaning and exam then not to go and end up with a much pricier list of treatment needs)

Seriously though, delicious looking smoothie. And enjoy the dentist! (??)

So please don’t take this as a criticism, but since this is the first time that I’ve seen you do a more “formal” giveaway that requires consenting to a third party’s terms and conditions (including its privacy policy), I think it would be a good idea for you to disclose to your readers whether OpenSky will receive entrants’ email addresses and is getting entrants’ permission via their checking that box to use their email for marketing purposes. I also think that now that you’re doing big league giveaways in conjunction with an established company, you should have sweepstakes rules, to comply with sweepstakes law. Depending on who is awarding the prize and what the value of the prize is, there could be tax consequences and, well, not having rules is a violation of sweepstakes law. I’m sure people will think I’m being a downer, but this type of promotion is exactly what the FTC and those endorsement guidelines are designed to protect.

Noted. I’ve passed this along to OpenSky. I think the biggest thing with the FTC is disclosure and I clearly stated that OpenSky was hosting the giveaway. I’ve also said in the past (and perhaps should have restated here) that the newsletter is only from me via OpenSky and emails will never be shared.

Ok – friends to the east, you’d better batten down the hatches! I’m in middle America and getting completely hammered with blowing snow. It’s so heavy right now I can barely see a tree that’s about 50 yards away. Luckily, I got a phone call today saying work was cancelled for tomorrow so I don’t have to venture out in this mess, but I’m sure it’s headed your way… Stay warm and safe!

Hi Kath! I’ve been following your blog for a long time now. I enjoy all the inspiration! I love seeing your travels & the new home series too! I just wanted to write after seeing your post about your mom’s book. I work in an elementary school library in a small suburb outside of Madison, Wisconsin. I recognized the book, pulled it off the shelf, read it & then proceded to display it for the students to see & read. It was fun having a connection to a book. I just thought I’d share…… 🙂

    Hi Kath,
I’ve been reading your blog for a while now, and I recently started a blog of my own (http://mybreadproject.blogspot.com/). I had been making alot of bread and someone at work told me I should blog about it to document the process. Its a work in progress, but I’ve been enjoying it. That mixer might help me post more often… 😉
Anyways, just wanted to say thanks for the daily inspiration to eat healthy and live well.

use the leaves of the kale for kale chips and juice the stems! also, juice broccoli stems! i quickly realized that greens don’t work for juicing (rather save ’em for green smoothies) if you have a breville (need a greenstar or something to get more juice) but the stems are awesome!

Kath, I am loving your organization posts, but I wish they were more applicable to small apartments. I have the problem of too much stuff, not enough space, and I definitely don’t have the option of basement storage or turning an extra bedroom into a closet in a 650 sq. ft. apartment. Do you have any recommendations for decluttering or small storage? Thanks!
