The Miles Add Up

I was so productive today and it was awesome!! Supercharged. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same! Sometimes I just get tired of looking at a list and want to knock it all out at once. Whee!

By late afternoon, though, my shoulders were killing me. I have awful posture when sitting at my desk. I probably need a new chair. Or just something to remind me to keep my shoulders back. I decided a long afternoon walk was just what I needed.

IMG_7231Blog

My mom is writing a novel about a 10-year-old and her aunt, who writes a pie blog. It’s quite the brilliant story [and you can guess who the inspiration was!!] I’m helping her with a lot of the blogging details as well as the plot. I called her on my walk and we worked on the book for over an hour. She just signed with a new agent and we are crossing our fingers this book is a winner!

You guys would read it, right!?

IMG_7234Blog

I walked for an hour and 20 minutes all around my neighborhood. It was awesome!! I stretched out my chest and back and felt great when I returned for a bit more to-do.

IMG_7226Blog

Dinner tonight was just reheated leftovers. I actually planned a new meal for tonight, but when I realized we had at least 3 servings of our Cauliflower Crockpot meal, I decided that made more sense to eat.

We all love meals that don’t require much cooking!

IMG_7230Blog

I put some millet on the stove and headed the leftovers in another pot. Dinner was ready in no time!

IMG_7220Blog

We recreated the meal exactly – yogurt, pecans and all!! The only swap was the millet underneath instead of brown rice.

IMG_7222Blog

So very delicious!

After dinner we were settling into the evening when I got a text from Faith requesting a walk! I am not one to turn down a nice walk on a warm evening, so she biked over and we went out for a loop in the neighborhood. I’m pretty sure both walks totally about 7 miles! Those miles really add up. I was in no mood to run even 3 miles today, but I sure knocked out 7 easy by walking.

After our walk, Tate actually came over and we had a quick beer in the basement. Well, Faith and I had sparkling water and the boys had beer.

Matt does the sign over his keg by hand!

This month he’s featuring a new Smoked Brown Ale with Smokey the Bear himself!!

I found myself [and Shaklee!] mentioned in Woman’s Day today!!! Very cool.

Time to call it a night!

I used to have this problem with my shoulders, which led to chronic neck pain. When you’re at a desk most of the day, it can be a real problem.

I solved it for myself by doing the following:
I adjusted the height of my chair UP so that I had no choice but to drop my shoulders in order to type comfortably. If this leaves your legs dangling you can add a foot rest under the desk.
I make sure I move the keyboard back on the desk so that all of my forearm is supported. This not only helped with my shoulders/neck but also with my RSI in my wrists.

    hope this helps 🙂
