In The Heat Of The Night

For the first time, it feels like summer is on the verge!!! I woke up to hot sunshine in my eyes, and came downstairs to open our front door and was cooled off by a nice breeze. LOVE!

IMG_7241Blog

Also love Dough Boy Smoothies!

IMG_7237Blog

Last night I combined [for TWO smoothies] in the blender:

  • 2/3 cup raw oats
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2/3 cup Banana Mango yogurt
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

IMG_7238Blog

This morning I added half a mango and blended away. It turned SO frothy it was like melted iced cream! I think the mango made it extra emulsified

doughy-2Blog

Topped with granola, mango chunks, and coconut butter

Whole Foods Allegro Tea Fail #2. This was one that was supposed to be minty but it tasted too lemony to me. I warned you I was super picky about tea flavors!!

What about just a plain peppermint tea? Then you get the flavor you like without worrying about how much the other flavors distract or add to the mint.

Celestial Seasonings has this Tummy Mint – I think with different mints and chammomile(?). It’s good. I’m not a fan of mint just on its own and it’s still a little plain.

Sometimes, I’ll combine and use two tea bags like mint with ginger or chai – I don’t steep for long anyways – maybe try that!?

I’m a mint tea person, too! My fave is Moroccan Mint and it’s so perfect mixed with Nettles!
We are lucky in the NW to have Spring Nettles popping up now (in fact, the tender leaves are fabulous to eat, too).

    Hi Kath-

Went to my first ever GH Bakery yesterday (Burlington, VT), and I can surely see what attracted you guys! So exciting! Fresh bread = love in my book! 🙂 Question- what is the calorie count on those Trek Bars? They look delish but I think I’m going to repackage mine into four smaller pieces– so I don’t accidentally have a 600 calorie snack!! lol

I don’t know what the calorie count is – every store is different! Did the owners of the Burlington store have any nutrition info on the website?

You might like Peet’s Coffee Xaio’s blend. It’s mint based w/some additonal herbs. It’s a real nice (not too spicy, but plenty flavorful) blend. Steeping two bags in a mug yields an amazing cup of tea. Before investing in a full box of tea bags, ask for a sample or buy a half pound of coffee and you’ll get a free cup to test.

If you think you’d like ginger tea, I’d be happy to send you some loose tea cut leaves from a local spice shop. But, as you’d imagine, it’s on the spicy side. Just holler if you want to sample.

No reason – I just dump some in every morning (I never measure) and it’s probably about 1 tbsp for the two of us. The biggest reason why I don’t use more is because chia seeds are not cheap and I need to ration them!
