The Art Of Browsing Art

This post is sponsored by Minted

Welcome to our master bathroom!

Minted-7720

Since I was a little girl I dreamed about having my own bathroom (ask my parents!) In all three of the houses we’ve lived in, we haven’t had a proper master bathroom. So when we toured this house, of course I fell immediately in love.

Hello shower!!!!!!

Minted-7722

I was approached by Minted about featuring a piece of their art on KERF. Minted is a marketplace for independent artists and they feature a huge variety of art styles. They also host regular competitions to source all their art from their global community of independent artists.  I began to browse and spent an hour trying to narrow down the prints down. Here were some of my favorites:

Float

Pining for Pineapple

Oh Buoy

Bouys

Apertures No. 2

Light And Glass

Light and Glass

I Love You That Is All

I love you

The gold foil art is my favorite style, and I tend to gravitate to abstract, beachy and iconic art. I ultimately went with this cute fish print with the simple message “Be Unique.”

Fish

The message to “be unique” is a good reminder as I get ready for the day each morning!

Minted-7743

I went with the driftwood-style Whitewashed Herringbone frame to match the fish’s scales. Plus it mirrors our woodwork!

And….I have a giveaway for you guys!!!! To win a $500 credit towards Minted art, enter here!! $500 will go a long ways towards some beautiful pieces for your home.

WINNER: EMILY S. !!

Pretty bathroom. I wish mine was large enough for a big tub and shower! We have just a tiny shower but I’m hoping to at least re-vamp it a bit in the future. I like the tiled shower look so much.

Pining for Pineapple was made by my friend Joni for a contest minted.com had! She is a photographer. Glad it was one of the ones you liked. I like the one you chose, too!

Love Minted! I’ve bought at least one abstract picture from there and I always want more!

Question about your shower: I also have a shower floor just like that (small tiles with grout) and cleaning it it such. a. pain. Any tips/tricks? I usually clean a part of it while I am showering in the a.m. but wondering what your cleaning tricks are with it…

Greenworks and a scrub brush has been my technique. And a little bleach if necessary. I am determined to never let them “go” so hopefully keeping on top of it will keep them good for the long term

Thanks! we leave the fan on a for a while after a shower to suck up any humidity, and I also use a mix of bleach and water in a spray bottle while scrubbing. If you end up finding a magic trick let me know!

I have found that the trick to the shower walls is to squeegee them after every shower. We haven’t had to officially clean them since we moved in other than a few mild wipe downs. The squeegee works SO well to get all the soap off.

I agree! We squeegee AND wipe down with a towel after each shower and it helps out so much. However, we’re about to move and I told my husband I want an old-school fiberglass tub/shower combo because it’s sooooo much easier to clean (and actually looks clean when it is…the tile never looks crisp to me)! Haha I’m so over the tile and grout 🙂 🙂

As an artist myself (have a look at my site if you’d like!), I love seeing this post – everyone needs a little art in their life. It doesn’t have to be out of reach, even original work. Most towns and cities have local artists of all kinds and many times can be very affordable.

I think that every house needs two things to really feel like a home: art and plants. (I would also say pets, but I know that is not for everyone!) Definitely art, though. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing your discoveries!

Beautiful bathroom ! Love all of the prints shown but the fish print looks great on the wood ! I do have a question – I have a full tile shower – ( just recently renovated our bathroom ). and I was wondering where you found the little stool – shelf ? And was wondering if it is teak wood ? I could so use that in my new shower ! Also , thanks for the cleaning tips – tile and grout are all new to me !!

This is the one I got. At first we were thinking about having some of the tile ripped out to make room for more shampoo bottles, but then I realized that was ridiculous and that a stool would be a perfect solution for extra big bottles and shaving. It is teak, and we like it a lot!
