Mary Kay, Chicken and Lots Of Beans

Good morning! I just sent Mazen off to preschool cute as can be –

Foodblog-7986

Last night I made an early dinner – Chicken and Bean Bake. I didn’t have any fresh herbs so I used lots of dried thyme instead. This recipe is better with fresh herbs and lots of garlic though! But it’s always a hit.

Before I could dig in though, I went to an event hosted by my friend Lauren! She’s been kickin’ butt as a Mary Kay rep for the past 8 years or so, and invited a handful of friends over for a pampering party.

We gave ourselves facials and talked skincare. I was really impressed with how great the products felt on my skin.

Foodblog-21-2

I had two small glasses of wine plus some baked brie at the event, so dinner was on the small side when I got home.

Foodblog-7982

This morning I set my alarm for a beautiful sunny run around town. Unfortunately my foot/legs were still quite stiff from soccer, so it was more of a hobble/jog, but still enjoyable and worth getting up for. I listened to Rob Has A Podcast and the latest Survivor talk!!

Breakfast was a big bowl of fruit (strawberries, mango, pineapple, banana) with Fage 2% and Cville Cluster Granola on top.

Foodblog-7985

I just put some black beans in the crockpot for dinner! Recipe to follow…if they turn out!

I’ve never used Mary Kay makeup, but have always been curious about it! I’m also eager to see your black beans recipe, beans are such a quick and easy dinner option!

The idea of a big bowl of fruit sounds delish! I’ve been craving fruit like crazy lately. Where do you typically buy yours, and do you go for sale items, or whatever looks good?

I usually pick 2-3 things per week at Whole Foods, leaning towards things that are on sale or that I know Mazen loves (pineapple)

A hobble/jog is better than no run! Go you, Kath.

I’ve been using Mary Kay for about 10 years and love it. I just turned 40, and I like to think that my youthful looks is from using Mary Kay, HA! I used to sell it, but then realized I am NOT a salesperson. 🙂
Your food always looks amazing, and that sweet Mazen, oh my!!

I’m loving Mary Kay’s eye makeup remover, the intense moisturizing cream, and the cream to powder foundation I bought recently is TOO fab!

What dining room table did you end up getting? I remember you were considering one from RH but then went a different direction bc it was unfinished and would stain easily.

Kath, I’ve been a reader for years. I comment rarely and always positively, so it is difficult to write today with negative feedback. I want to say that the advertising that shows up when I read on my phone while working is very distracting. Sometimes I find that just by scrolling down to read your post I am inadvertently hovering to long or touching the ad brings me to another site that I had no intentions of clicking on. It is nearly impossible to read without frustration. The number of ads and the content is not a good fit in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m working to try to find a balance of mobile and usability and it hasn’t been easy

Yes, I read it on a desktop and the ads pull the pages back up as I’m reading or they pull them down, and the audio automatically starts playing so I always have to remember to keep the volume down!

Yes, this same thing happens to me while reading on a desktop.
Kath–while the ads are frustrating, know that we as readers know you are working on it. You have a great blog! Keep you the excellent work!

I love podcasts and just realized “I bet there are SURVIVOR ones!” His appears to be the most popular. Would you agree? I love hearing the exit interviews and talks with previous players!

Unrelated to this post, but just wanted to say how I enjoy seeing how you spend time with your son – I’m not a Mom yet but it’s been inspiring to me and given me lots of ideas for the future! You make being a Mom look fun.
