Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!! I feel like I just finished finals! Kelsey and I celebrated with something we’ve been meaning to do for ages:
The warm weather, canceled Clinical – it was just the right time to drink some wine! We went to Vintage Wine Bar, which was on our way home.
We ordered the Mulderbosch Chenin Blanc – half priced bottle night!
Then we decided to just call it dinner and order some bites.
Started with a salad of Prosciutto with Pear, Taleggio + Pistachios
And finished by splitting the Exotic Mushroom Pasta with Sun-dried Tomatoes + a Cream Sauce.
It was like liquid whipped cream! But the sun-dried maters were the best part.
I ate 75% and left a bit in my bowl on purpose to keep things a little lighter.
We had a blast! (We went walking this afternoon for over an hour to study for the Foodservice midterm. I think I did pretty well, but it’s so hard to gauge on these tests!)
Upon arriving home, I shared one of my aunt’s oatmeal coconut cranberry cookies with her for dessert. We think there might be some kind of exotic molasses in them!
I am thrilled to be done with school for a while (although I still have Food Lab on Friday). Tomorrow will be devoted to Africa prep and long-term assignments!
Awesome meal! Love those maters 🙂 Yay for being done with exams and have fun getting ready for Africa! That is so amazing and I can’t wait to hear about it.
Congrats on finishing Kath! Food and wine sounds good and looks good.

So is lunch tomorrow considered Africa Prep or a long-term assignment?
I love wine. What was the style of the white?
Congrats! I love Kelsey’s dress. Or is it a shirt?
Fun dinner! And I think oatmeal coconut anything cookies are amazing…just something about it. Of course I’m partial to oatmeal coconut chocolate chip, but that’s me 😉

the elk wine from willamette valley in oregon is also fantastic ( i went there this past may) but South African wines hold a special place in my heart. oh stellenbosch… cape town also has great vineyards
its so nice you have a bloggie friend in charlotte too!

omg your dinner looks so good! and congrats on being done with the exam!!
Yes, I was hoping you could be a suitcase for me to pack?
It was a Chenin Blanc.
Congratulations on finishing your exams!
Could the ingredient in your aunt’s cookies be black treacle (or blackstrap molasses)? It’s used in many cookie recipes, and I think it gives them a very special flavor. 😉
I love that wine bottle and that pasta looks delish!
Yay for (almost) spring break!
Looks like you guys had a great night! I’m dying to find a cute wine bar, how else will I ever learn about wine?
I am also headed to Kenya in a while! I’m not leaving till later in May, but I’ll be there for almost 3 months!
Anyways, let’s just say that I can’t wait for your Africa posts! I’m going to include them as part of my “research” about MY trip!
Have a great day,
Glad your exams for the week are over and I love the way you and Kelsey celebrated! That looks like a wonderful spot, with some great dish/wine pairings.
Have a wonderful time in Africa and don’t stress packing!!
PS. Please let Kelsey know that her blog comments aren’t working today.
How lucky to be sitting outside!

That looks like my kind of place! I’ll have to try it when I go back to visit my mom. That pasta looks to die for. Congrats on your tests almost being done! I had my adv ex phys yesterday, but don’t feel too confident about it 🙁 Then I have one more on monday for human physiology. Hopefully that will go better? Have fun packing! That’s always the best part 🙂
