{Television} Lately

My favorite shows of the past few years include:

LOST, Mad Men, Survivor (clearly), Nashville and…. So You Think You Can Dance!

When this summer’s season ended, I immediately snagged two tickets for the tour in Richmond. I gave my ticket to the first friend I found who said “I love that show!” Turns out my Survivor-obsessed friend Ellen also loves SYT and we had a blast together (this was her third or fourth tour!)

Foodblog-55

It was really exciting to see everyone dance in person! Valerie was my favorite of this season. Rudy and Ricky really stole the tour show.

Foodblog-01 this !

Before the show Ellen and I went to Pasture to see what the original location is all about. {Sidebar: Pasture opened a second location here in Cville and I loved it. Sadly, they have re-branded into a BBQ place. Apparently the first concept wasn’t well received (I don’t know why!), but I’m not sure Cville needs more BBQ because we have great places already. Going to give it a try though.}

Foodblog-28

The Richmond location was just like the Cville one – as it used to be! We got the amazing pimento cheese and Ritz crackers. Black bean falafel. Carolina rice grits with sausage. Fried clams. Autumn brussels and butternut squash and fried pickles!

Foodblog-44

Turns out the server and Ellen went to high school together, so he brought us one of their house-made candy bars for dessert. Unbelievable – especially the crunchy pecan-honeycomb stuff on the side!

Foodblog-23

Moving on to less exciting meals, we kept things pretty simple the rest of the week.

I made Gimme Some Oven’s Enchilada soup again!

Foodblog-3966

We made Cook Smarts fish tacos another night. Featuring catfish and cabbage!

Foodblog-4020

And the Cook Smarts Wedding Soup with turkey meatballs and couscous –

Foodblog-4072

And finally, Matt and I went on a date night to Rocksalt, which is our new favorite restaurant at Stonefield.

Foodblog-45-2

We were immediately sold on these mussels and frits

Foodblog-45

I had a cup of shrimp bisque – thick, rich and everything I had hoped for!

Foodblog-52-2

And Matt had this seared tuna entrée with beans and kale.

Foodblog-52

Lunches

Moving backwards to lunch!

Leftover soup. The best!

Foodblog-4016

Half of Mazen’s leftover hamburger with a side salad, cheese and clementine.

Foodblog-4028

A mix of all kinds of delicious leftovers – chicken, spinach, cheese.

Foodblog-3703

And lunch at Eppie’s with KK! I got the Santa Monica salad (my favorite) and enjoyed some of Mazen’s black beans and mac and cheese.

Foodblog-25

Breakfasts

Oatmeal is on the menu! Classic whipped banana with Good Spread Peanut Butter on top.

Foodblog-3761

Next up: eggs + toast with grapes.

Foodblog-3700

I’ve been making double the oats and reheating them with some milk another day that week.

Foodblog-3329

This bowl was a mash up of yogurt, chopped pear, granola, raw oats and peanut butter. French press a la Perfect Coffee!

Foodblog-3707

And finally – yogurt with blueberry sauce, banana and peanut butter. Coffee always on the side!

Foodblog-3714

Hope y’all have a great week! What are your favorite current shows? I know I need to watch Homeland…and I started Orange Is The New Black but am so sucked into Survivor that I can’t find time to watch it!

OMG I love italian wedding soup! I had totally forgotten about it though! Now I’m craving some and really want to make some. 🙂 Also, LOST is for sure the best series of all time. Incredible.

So cool to visit the “first” Pasture! I went to the new pastureQ and I have to say I won’t be returning :/ it’s a shame the first concept didn’t work out, but all I can hope for at this point is that something great replaces pastureQ (because I unfortunately don’t see it lasting..)

the pulled pork and beans were actually okay, but i didn’t like the slaw or the pulled chicken. i think the issue is like you said there are too many amazing bbq places for a mediocre one!

I’ve been a reader for maybe 6 months, but this is my first comment – I have to because I was actually at Pasture when you came in and I recognized you! Hopefully I didn’t stare too much or anything, I was just doing a double take that my internet blog reading was coming to life. 🙂 I happened to be in Richmond for a couple of days last week and Pasture was near my hotel. I also had pimiento cheese, the grits, and the brussels sprouts. Glad you had a good dinner!

I really don’t watch tv! I don’t even have cable in my apartment. I do use my boyfriend’s Netflix account, though…Always Sunny is crushing it for us right now. Talk about binge watching.

So jealous of the food scene in your neck of the woods. Philly is great for Italian especially, but I live just far enough for little corner places to be inaccessible. Sigh.

I love Orange is the New Black, I got sucked into it for 2 weeks this Summer. I highly recommend The Blacklist…watch season 1 and season 2 (the current one). It’s SO good and James Spader is eerily good.

Definitely OITNB! Also check out Blacklist. We are mildly obsessed right now since the first season is on Netflix. I’m also obsessed with all the Shonda Rhime shows on ABC on Thursdays. I love getting a snack and sitting down for Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder. It’s a total girls night for me every week!

I watch way too much TV, but there are just so many good shows now – thank God for DVRs! 😉
I like the hour dramas best, especially procedurals. I’m currently loving The Blacklist (hate that it’s on a winter break…), Forever (probably my current fav), Elementary, Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-O and Person of Interest.

Next time you head to Richmond you need to check out Southern Season- it’s like Sur la Table & whole foods in one! I went last time I was home and can’t wait to go back 🙂

I watch them on Vudu because it’s connected to my BluRay player and TV (verses having to watch on a computer screen). If you have Chromecast though, you can find a ton of them on Amazon Prime. I’d recommend watching them all in a row!
