Weekend

Here are some shots from two Fridays ago that never made it up when Karen went with us to Fridays After Five. On Saturday night we cooked an amazing dinner at home: steaks, caprese salads, rolls and summer salad.

This past weekend hit up the farmer’s market, went to a first birthday party, visited Karen in the hospital, and went on a date night to Pasture, a new farm-to-table restaurant that opened at the Shops at Stonefield.

Friday night we met friends for drinks and apps at La Taza’s tiki bar. What fun!

Foodblog--2-2

And the best sweet potato fries ever.

Foodblog--3

Since we ate fries and quesadilla we settled on a cutting board of snacks for dinner.

Pasture was one of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever seen!

Love the colors, love the stamp logo, love the wood, love, the chairs, love the space

Foodblog-0437Foodblog-0441

The chalkboard bathroom was pretty neat!

Foodblog-0446Foodblog-0443

The menu was quite awesome too! I’d call it “modern Southern.” Lots of pimento cheese, grits, okra and the like. Just my cup of sweet tea!

Foodblog-0438

Vino + brew

Foodblog-0449

Matt and I started with an order of pimento cheese (my fav) and a butter bean dip with veggies. The pimento cheese was classically awesome and loved the Ritz crackers that came in a cut paper bag for dipping. I loved the butter bean hummus as well!

Foodblog--2

Next we had an order of fried clams, which were seafoodalicious

Foodblog-0457

And for dinner we shared the pork chop with mashed potatoes and green beans. We had the chance to meet one of the owners too. I’m excited to return for more tastes.

Foodblog-0460

I didn’t really even need to see the dessert menu because a dessert in a jar had been floating by me all night.

Foodblog-0461

Turns out it was a South Boston Cream Pie and it was smashing!

Foodblog-0462

Not good at all.

Winking smile this !

Foodblog-0465

Hope you had a great weekend!

Hi Kath! I read the news about Karen recently and I was struck by how it mirrored some news I had gotten recently about my dad (he just found out a cancer he was treated for 2 yrs ago has returned). I also have young kids, and I was wondering how you and Matt are planning to handle/balance Mazen’s and Karen’s caretaking needs over the next few months as she recovers from surgery and undergoes radiation/chemo? I know she lives close to you guys. I am a little concerned about this because my dad is also divorced and many of the caretaking duties will fall on me. I guess it may be a little simpler for you because you have 1 kid and I have 3. 🙂 Take care and we’re all thinking about Karen and sending her good wishes!!

    Dear Kattie,
Would you be needing some pasture scenic oil paintings to decorate the new place? . I have oils of horses in patures, rabbits in pastures and more available for display.. Contact me at [email protected] and let me know if you would like me to bring them in to the new restaurant at Stonefield. . I am a local Albemarle County artist and will be displaying my art tomorrow, Oct 5 and Oct 6 at the Whitehall Vineyard. Would love to talk to you there. So come on in. and ask for Shelly. You can probably recognize my pasture scenes on display. Will try to secure a spot inside. Looking forward to meeting you.
