Technological Advancements

WOW – the new U-verse TV is SO COOL!!!! It’s just like Time Warner’s DVR + cable, but the interface (is that the right word!?) is so much more user friendly. Not only is it 10 times faster to click through shows (thanks to a fiber optic line instead of a divided cable signal), but you can see your DVRed shows by title! Genius. A huge plus for House Hunters watching

 this !
The internet seems to be fast too, so we are very pleased. Can I also add that we’re saving at least $30 a month?

And I fixed my Eye-Fi card!!!!!!!! One of the settings was turned off and I definitely did not log in, click through 3 screens and uncheck the box!?!?!?

The AT&T visit and my Food Lab report took most of the afternoon. The guy finally left around 5:00 and I was really hungry for a snack – and eyeing a package on our mailbox. Little did I know it contained a snack!! I’m so glad I checked the mail first.

It was a batch of my Aunt Mary Ellen’s fabulous secret-recipe oatmeal cookies!!!!!!!!!

IMG_1953 (1024x768)

She made a batch of these for me during our visit in January and said they had very secret ingredients that she couldn’t share. She is even submitting them to a contest!

I can’t even describe what is so good about them: they are chewy, yet crumbly, the perfect tiny little size (about the size of a flat golf ball) and they have a butteriness about them that I am going to pretend is 100% healthy 😉

IMG_1954 (1024x768)

I had one straight out of the bag. The rest of these are going in my freezer so I can savor them for weeks to come. Thank you Aunt Mary Ellen!!!

IMG_1956 (1024x768)

And then I had about half a cup of TJ’s Euro yogurt (I’ve missed yogurt SO MUCH this week, as we ran out on Sunday and Matt kept forgetting to get it after work!) but a cookie crumbled on top, but it’s not on my camera!?!?!!?!?!?!?

At 5:30 we walked a blustery walk to the shopping center to run an errand – about 20 minutes round trip. Then he cracked open a Dunkelweizen and gave me a splash in my own little cup –

IMG_1959 (1024x768)

For dinner we made an old cheap favorite: Poor Man’s Gumbo, which was originally a Rachel Ray recipe. Tonight’s version was pretty much the same one we made last time but we only used a 3 oz can of tuna and a little bit less of each of the ingredients to make a smaller amount.

IMG_1970 (1024x768)

My mug had about half a cup of Lundberg’s Short Grain Brown Rice, which is the best brown rice ever because it’s sticky. And we used the bacon for garnish this time instead of stirring it in.

IMG_1967 (1024x768)

Actually, tonight this reminded me a lot of pulled pork. Something about the shredded texture and it was more tomatoey tonight. But it was delish. I love okra. And bacon (surprisingly!)

We’re off to watch more Office (we’ve been watching about 2 episodes a day). Season 2 is over! On to #3.

I’ll probably blog in the AM because I’m going to have a post-workout mini breakfast before I head to class. Unless I’m running late after the gym.

Adios!

Yes, but I don’t use Outlook anymore now that I don’t have to for work – just Google.

Thanks for the feedback Kath. I think I’m just in a funk right now and I just can’t seem to break out of it. I definitely agree that motivation follows results, but man, those results are hard to come by these days.

Thanks for keeping up such a great website. And for being so accessible to your readers 🙂

We switched to Uverse too and we LOVE it. LOVE. I was so hesitant because I didn’t want to learn a whole new set of stations (different numbers, etc) but even the way they are organized makes better sense, like all the news stations together, all the kids stations together, etc. So cool!
