Tech-NO

My Eye-Fi card stuck me between a rock and a hard place tonight.

 imageimage

[I swear these cards are both the best and worst thing to happen to memory card technology…]

My photos got 100% stuck on the card when everything I plugged it into said it was “not formatted.” First my computer gave me the error, then my camera itself. I had no choice but to re-format – and therefore delete – everything.

LUCKILY all we had for dinner tonight was pizza and salad leftovers!! So I didn’t have much to show. I cannot imagine if this would have happened after some special event!

ALSO LUCKILY I do have one photo to share – the amazing frozen yogurt snack I got on a downtown after a meeting!

Thin Mint, Coconut and Peanut Butter with Heath and Butterscotch. What a lovely afternoon!

Sorry to hear about your Eye-Fi. Man oh man, I can’t wait to have frozen yogurt after this detox. Just a treat here and there in moderation!! So excited.

I just got a new camera and debated on the eye-fi card. The sales lady at best buy actually told me not to buy one. She said they are slow and unreliable so I opted for a normal memory card. I still don’t know if I made the right choice!

Thank goodness for small miracles. My favourite frozen yogurt is the kind that the machine presses the frozen berries into the frozen yogurt…strawberry blueberry is a fav.

Now I am craving frozen yogurt. LOL

Technology can surely have some glitches at the most inopportune times 🙁

At least you did not lose a bunch of pictures!

I would be devastated if I lost all my pictures on my camera, because I have not backed them up yet!!!

That STINKS about the pics. I think you would hear my head explode if that happened to me. A good reminder to constantly back up especially after events. I tend to take them for granted.

Ugh, tech glitches are the worst. There is nothing worse than losing pics! I have lost tons in my day; usually just of food, but there have been some vacation/family/kiddo pics that I were deleted/lost in a computer crash. Such a bad feeling and even though things were backed up, or so I thought, they weren’t fully backed up.

Good luck with the ole Eye-Fi tomorrow!

    hey kath,
i was wondering — what is the calorie count like on those fro-yos? i love it, but i find portion control so hard (especially when you can’t really tell how much is a serving and/or serve yourself) — any tips on how not to go overboard?

I have the same problem! I love it too much & get too large of a serving. Actually, I really can’t eat ‘sweets’ at all or I just go overboard 😉

      Hey Sara,
Frozen yogurt is relatively low – from 90-150 per half cup. So my advice (which I do not always follow) is to have a good serving of yogurt and go easy on the candy toppings.

This happened to my eye-fi after a huge foodie event –Xmas eve dinner! After blogging about it, eye-fi contacted me immediately and offered to restore what was lost. I couldn’t trust it again, so I do it the old fashioned way ever since.

As a photography teacher, this seems to be the story of my life (with students). Things got accidentally deleted or lost all the time. That’s what makes me miss darkroom photography- you take a picture on film, and it’s there forever.
(But digital is wonderful in so many ways too, of course)

I actually wouldn’t recommend it for traveling 🙁 It requires you to set up every wifi network that you encounter and you can only have one at a time – although I could be wrong and there could be travel kinds that use cellular networks now, but mine stays connected to my home network only and I don’t use it when I travel 🙁

Was there an option to continue without the reformat? One of my memory cards sometimes pops that error up, but I’m able to bypass it to download my photos, and then reformat it afterwards.

Regardless, glad the problem was fixed! =)

I’ve had it do that with my camera before, and you’re right – I can just take it in and out. But this was a different, more serious problem and my computer wouldn’t accept it either 🙁
