Stomach Wins

I was supposed to run outside this morning. Before breakfast.

Meaning, I had mentally prepared all day yesterday since we have a busy day today. But when the alarm went off, my stomach said FEED ME and I knew no small pre-run snack would satisfy the hunger – it was deep and demanding.

Matt also said in his most childish voice: “Let’s run later.” OK, ok. Breakfast it is!

And man oh man was it a good one!!

Strawberry Cheesecake Oats

Cottage cheese gives the oatmeal a nice cheesy essence. Strawberries are plump and tart. And granola makes for the perfect "crust"

Served with a new tea from Whole Foods – Roobios. It was not my favorite. It seems the only teas that I just love are minty!

I’m a minty tea fan as well — every once in a while I like a cup of black or white tea, but that is about it!

Strawberry cheesecake oats — sounds delicious! And that pedestal bowl is so pretty.

My ABSOLUTE favorite tea is that brand, the Northwest Minty Green. It is so minty and strong. I can actually steep it and then make it into a glass of iced tea. It’s what has kept me going during my time of breastfeeding and not really doing caffeinated drinks.

Isn’t it great when you can have breakfast and dessert at the same time? Your breakfast looks simply gorgeous. I like mint tea, but I have been drinking a lot more roobios tea lately. It’s said to contain more antioxidants as compared to other teas. It’s a bonus that it’s caffeine free too:)

ooooh Rooibos are my favorite!! But yea, they are completely different from herbal teas. Have you tried it cold? I actually think they taste better cold since they tend to have a sour/fruity taste. I especially love the Rooibos mixes from Teavana.

OH I meant to tell you – I was perusing on the Lululemon career site, and they have a position open for a manager of the Lululemon Charlottesville store (showroom)! I know ya’ll are hard at work at Great Harvest, but for some reason, I thought of you 🙂 Or maybe you know someone there that would be interested? What’s nice about working in a showroom is they’re usually only open for a couple hours, 3-4 days a week. Plus the discount! I wish there was one closer to me!!

I too favor mint based tea, though I’m really loving ginger tea these days. I buy loose (tea cut) ginger from a local spice shop. It’s simultaneously calming and energizing, and always seems to cure any ailment. If you can find it, I urge you to give it a try, though I should warn you that the boxed tea bag versions in the grocery store tend to be combined w/other flavors/herbs, which dilute the zingy-ness of straight ginger.

Good luck w/ bizness stuff today, Kath!

Kath, I just love reading about all the updates to the bakery, watching you and Matt transform and idea into reality. You should have a page for the bakery, and how you went from a small idea and transforming it into something real. It provides me with so much inspriation to take the leap into what I want to do.

I usually prefer to exercise first thing before my mind has a chance to try to talk myself out of it- but something breakfast trumps it!

Kath, I thought the only teas I liked were minty ones too…until I discovered ginger. Now my body literally craves a lemon ginger tea every morning. Give it a try!

I can’t help but notice how GORGEOUS the food looks. After looking at several blogs lately, I feel like I need some prettier place mats to jazz up my pictures 😉

Love the cheesecake oatmeal! I added cottage cheese one time and for some reason I thought it was kind of odd so I haven’t done it anymore lol Love the strawberry idea. They don’t get too soggy?

I love your breakfasts. They inspire me to new levels of oatmeal!

Exciting day for you guys! and yes, Rooibos is definitely not my fave… I’d say that I go for minty teas too but I have a sweet spot for chamomile. 🙂
